"It's Like Smallville, but with Wonder Woman!"

This thread has a serious lack of suggested casting choices.More hot brunettes that could pull this off!

Unfortunately we probably won't get a Wonder Woman film unless a Justice League film is successful, and the studio sees a demand for a Wonder Woman film. It's a smart way to go about it considering the huge disappointment WB had with Green Lantern. This show is a much safer investment for them. DC Entertainment has zero power in terms of greenlighting projects and DC seems to be not much of a priority at WB. This show is the best thing Wonder Woman fans can hope for at this point.

Well, I'll just repost what I wanted for the movie then!

WWTheMovie-1.jpg

Bridget Regan as Diana/Wonder Woman
Lena Headey as Hippolyta
Cate Blanchett as Circe
Daniel Craig as Mars/Ares
Rosario Dawson as Phillipis
Kelly Overton as Artemis of the Bana-Mighdall Amazons
Ryan Gosling as Steve Trevor
Ginnifer Goodwin as Etta Candy
Sean Penn as Doctor Psycho
Emily Blunt as Cheetah
and Jodie Foster as Julia Kapatalis

(I originally wanted Gemma Arteron as Mala or some other Amazon, and maybe Zoe Saldana as Cheetah)

It's as unrealistic as Superman's red undies appearing in MoS, but who's counting?

I think SHH is one of the most notable forums on the genre and they're almost certainly aware of us...but I still don't think they care much about our opinions, lol.

Ah, figures.

Yeah, I would love to see a live-action interpretation of the events in the '09 animated movie, with the Amazons winning their freedom from the gods and of course Ares' army vs the Amazons in contemporary DC at the end, but that now seems extremely unlikely on a TV budget. This is why I wanted a blockbuster movie instead - so they could really embrace the epicness of the Greek mythology, kinda like they did with the Norse mythology in Thor, only more so. Oh well.

And of course, a dash of Neil Gaiman ideas would help anything. :woot:

He wrote the script for Beowulf, and even though that movie pretty much stunk up both the source material as well as the movie, I blame Avery mostly for it. Gaiman's involvement in a WW adaptation should multiply popularity points by the hundreds.

They ought to really go into the mythology, and with a TV series they have that added advantage of really exploring their stories and no be limited to 2 and a half hours to do that. Branagh did an excellent job but with WW it's a whole different story

I do like Bridget Regan as WW but I'm sure she's to old for the CW.

As someone else has mentioned, a lot of Canadian actors do TV here in America. Sooooo.... since I thought of her

Yeah, she is short, but she has some really beautiful eyes and she speaks Russian.

Someone like Taylor Cole would be more realistic casting for a CW show.

Yeah I know most of the people on that pic i posted are too impossible for a TV show.

But yeah Regan's probably not gonna work as a 15-year-old. Same for Taylor Cole. Unless it's that sort of a 15-year-old (which would, admittedly, make me feel uneasy).

Yeah Taylor Cole is my choice as well but knowing CW, it's going to be a 19 year old playing a high school chick with teenage drama.....................the same formula with 80% of their shows. It's a wonder that CW is still a network but no surprise a lot of cable providers are dropping them.

19 is probably too young for a "teemager" on the CW lol. Wasn't Welling 26 when he started doing Smallville?

well, here's an update (somewhat) on that cast-preference. Yes I'm stubborn.

As a Canadian I'm a fan of this chick. But she is a bit small, more of a sidekick.Like on lost girl.

oh and one gripe I've had with the DTV Wonder Woman is that they sort of didn't bother with the implications of their themes. It's as if some of it just wasn't thought out at all. This wasn't true of films like New Frontier or any of the other "direct adaptations" and somehow I believe they ought to have just kept to Perez's original instead of deviating from it since in the comics, the writers did think it through. Here's what I mean:

There's that scene when they're talking about books and the library right? And it's implied that "venturing out to the world of men" would allow so that they'd have some new books to read. On the surface, an innocent claim; sure, why not get more books from the outside, it's all good, knowledge and everything. But then we have the girls quoting ancient greek philosophers and what it really boils down to is the suggestion that all these graceful Amazons have lived for so long without having created any literature of their own.

And I'm sorry but that just doesn't sit right with me. At all.

Think about it.

Later on we have Persephone "justifying" her treason by insisting that while Hippolyta did provide them with everything, that what they really needed were men to be boned by "because we're also women." Holy mother! And this was supposed to be a new-feminist take on Wonder Woman? For shame directors-that-be. For shame Gail Simone! And you yourself were a gal writing the script.

You can deconstruct it from there on but the implication was that Hippolyta's "paradise" was little more than a separatist fundamentalist nation where her subjects felt trapped rather than being "liberated." It's counter-productive. Not to mention missing the point of gender-equality that feminism is supposed to endorse. At the end of the day, it wasn't a paradise at all.

I for one hope that the upcoming TV series doesn't make those basic blunders.

Bridget Regan for Wonder Woman in a tv series. This isn't even up for debate.

I really like her look for a young WW, how's her acting?

She was in Final Destination 5 and I thought she did well in it. I liked her. She's also set to appear in the Arrow pilot and she's a regular on some soap

I would also like to point out that I think what happened to sethypants was wrong, he didn't do anything wrong.

I agree, but he was literally asking for it. There's really no point in making yourself a martyr on an internet forum for superheroes and TV studios. And this is coming from someone who's obsessed with these things.

I think someone straight up telling a moderator to ban them is a justifiable reason for a ban.

"Alright, guys. Cut it out."
"WELL GO AHEAD AND BAN ME THEN!"
"Okie Doke."

I don't think he should have been banned either but to say he didn't do anything wrong is being naive. He was becoming a tid bit obsessive and if you didn't see it his way, you were a troll. He should have been put on probation but then again, he was warned a couple of times.

Didn't see that part but if it's true, he had it coming. I did see the part where he was warned a couple of times and he let it bounce off him like bullets bounce off Superman's chest.
