The 2DS reminds me of those Tiger Electronic handhelds.

Members from the PokeGen community have been working on a freeware Pokémon MMORPG called Pokémon Planet, and they have just released the first public pre-alpha build of the game for you to download, if you wish.

The first thing to note is that everything you see in Pokémon Planet is very early and, in fact, the development team say that “the game’s code and assets will be completely reworked and rewritten after this version.” That should mean the game will change drastically, then.

The current pre-alpha build features a basic multiplayer system with in-game chatting. It also lets you catch your starter Pokémon and do real-time battles with them against others.

Pokémon Planet will, of course, be expanded upon in a number of ways from this simple build. Both your character and their Pokémon will have their own skill tree that you can progress through, for example.

You’ll also be able to venture into The Wilderness to find wild Pokémon to battle and tame. Pokémon Leagues will also be a feature so that you can attempt to become the very best (that ever was). A full roster of features planned for the game can be found on the game’s wiki.

Those looking to track Pokémon Planet’s progress, new builds, and talk with the community can do so over on the official forums.

Hey for you competitive PokéFans out there. Can you please rate my Dragon team:

Dragonite
Charizard
Tyrantrum/Goodra/Steelix
Tyranitar
Kingdra/Dragalge
Garchomp

I'm definitely leaning towards Kingdra, but Dragalge would cover the Fairy-type weakness. I'm also leaning towards Steelix, but Goodra's ability to lower Speed could be very helpful in battle and Tyrantrum has good Attack and Defense. Any suggestions or recommendations?

PS: I didn't know that three of my choices can Mega Evolve, so that gives me even more incentive that I'm heading in the right direction.

do they need to be dragon type to be on your team? cause steelix and tyranitar are not dragon type

Not really, just dragon like. Lance and Iris have pretty much set a standard for me. :D

EDIT: Also now I'm thinking of adding Ampharos...:hmm

ampharos probably wouldnt be that helpful, dragonite can do pretty much anything ampharos can do. Dragonite is really good with someone who can setup rain, if you give kingdra rain dance for example, and give dragonite thunder, thunder's accuracy will raise to 100% during the rain, but that might not mix well with tyranitar which im assuming has sand stream?

Garchomp and Tyranitar running Sand Stream is a good combo. It's one I've used a lot. Also, I'm pretty sure Sand Stream gives a boost to Tyrantrums Special Defense, as well as Tyranitars.

What are the movesets?

It means was use as attacks or actions in general of the characters we cotrol. Though I see dev's and other people use other words in placement of the word move set

Pretty much my strategy. Using weather effects to my advantage.

If we're going with Tyrantrum:

Dragonite
Item: None/Leftovers
Attacks
Dragon Tail
Thunder
Safeguard
Aerial Ace/Acrobatics

Charizard
Item: Focus Sash
Attacks
Dragon Tail
Flamethrower
Dragon Dance
Steel Wing

Tyrantrum
Item: Life Orb
Attacks
Head Smash
Crunch
Stealth Rock
Dragon Claw

Kingdra
Item: Wise Glasses
Attacks
Water Pulse
Blizzard
Rain Dance
Dragon Pulse

Tyranitar
Item: Bright Powder
Attacks
Stone Edge
Crunch
Aerial Ace
Earthquake

Garchomp
Item: Zoom Lens
Attacks
Fire Blast
Dragon Rush
Earthquake
Giga Impact

If you're using Tyranitar for it's weather, you could give it Smooth Rock instead of Bright Powder. That'll increase the number of turns the sandstorm will last.

Good idea, maybe a Damp Rock for Kingdra to increase Rain Dance allowing for it to gain a major Speed boost with Swift Swim and for Dragonite to get a chance to use Thunder. I was thinking of giving Tyranitar the Bright Powder to make it difficult for Fighting types to inflict damage to him.

I need a little advice.

I know little about Pokemon but my 8 year old son just became a fanatic.

Which of these options should I do?

A) Make him earn (via allowance) Pokemon X or Y (3DS)

B) Make him earn Pokemon Art Academy (3DS).

C) Let him wait for Christmas and buy him Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire for the 3DS.

I want to say A or C seem to be the best choices.

My only problem with making him earn the game is I don't think he has the will power to save up (it will take a month). Usually he uses his allowance on Pokemon cards once a week.
