I think the "core" package is supposed to, price-wise, compete with the Wii.THWIP* said:WHAT I THINK WILL HAPPEN IS, THEY'LL PHASE OUT THE "CORE" PACKAGE, AND MAKE THE "PREMIUM" $300.00........BUT DROP THE "PREMIUM" NAME. WITH THAT, THEY CAN THEN OFFER A BETTER VERSION, FOR $400-$500, WITH A 60GB+ HDD, EXTRA CONTROLLER, ETC. WHO KNOWS, THEY MAY EVEN (AND LIKELY WILL) OFFER AN X-MAS BUNDLE WITH THE NEW WEBCAM, AND EVEN THE HD-DVD, FOR LIKE $500. THAT WOULD KICK ALL KINDS OF ASS.![]()

A 60GB harddrive is only meaningful to say. Game saves are rarely larger than a Megabyte, and game cache gets cleared pretty regularly.
Also, unless you're downloading a ton of movies onto the thing, it should never get filled up on songs.

I still think there are going to be shortages of teh PS3 everywhere much like there were with the 360. Yes, Sony is sayign they have pumped up production, but remember that they were stalled a couple of months waiting for the approval on some compnents. If the PS3 is in limited supply, then it won't matter at all about the price, because the die-hard Sony fans will buy the systems no matter what, and there won't be any left, just like it was with the 360. Now when PS3s become available, then it might pose a problem.
If anything, I see this as hurting the Wii. They were banking on 2 things, innovative controller, and much more affordable. Well, Microsoft just took out the much more affordable. 50 dollars isn't going to mean much of anything to parents buying little Timmy a new game system for Christmas, where 150 might have turned them more towards Nintendo.
