I've been thinking about all the SM3 hate...

It's different.
A high phone ring wouldn't hurt the symbiote or Eddie, nor would the noise the train does on the subway, for example.
But frequency waves, caused by the bell of the church or those poles hitting each other on the construction site actually hurt the symbiote. Know what I'm saying?

I was just making fun out of the reporter's voice, it was a JOKE, it wasn't suposed to be seen as a serious comment!

And also, the pic of Venom in your avatar, or whatever it's called, that is what Venom should look like, yes...but the film itself, his symbol didn't look that white, and the night made him look smaller. But that is also my opinion though.
It's weird you know: in certain scene from SM3, Venom simply looked terrible, in some he did look pretty cool. My point is, that in some scenes, he looked different.

I'm surprised nobody's said anything about the fact that he was never called Venom in the movie.

That and his death were some of the parts I didn't like about Sm3. They should have filmed the scenes on the comic book "The Black" that cae in the movie, they would have been some awesome Venom scenes.

 I didn't get that comic.

I find it weird. The film did have alot of flaws. Of course,Venom was butchered as a character,Sandman being Ben's killer, the reporters/Raimi's kids;etc, etc. But,despite all that's wrong the film is still pretty good. It's fun and entertaining to watch.

I don't agree, Venom was treated different and I liked the way Venom/ Eddie Brock were in SM3, just think he should have a lot more screen time.

I just saw this movie for the first time the other day. I had wanted to see it in theaters, but never got the opportunity. Then with all of the bad reviews I figured that I would hold off until it came on HBO...

I can really understand all of the bad reactions. The main draw for me to see this was Venom. His character was butchered, and he wasn't even on screen long enough to really do anything. I would have loved for this movie to be (Spider-man vs. Venom) only...

Overall, I think it suffered the same fate as Batman & Robin - trying to do too much with too many characters and a rushed plot.

as bad as you may think spider-man 3 to be [ i personally think its the best of the three] it's nowhere NEAR as bad as BATMAN AND ROBIN.

Spider-Man 3 made me embarrassed to be a Spidey fan.

i dont know about that..like seriously? theres no way it coulda been THAT bad.

Maybe saying that Spider-man 3 and Batman & Robin being on the same level is a bit harsh...but they are very close. At least SM3 didn't turn their characters into walking pun machines like B&R.

I felt the same way about Batman & Robin :( .

Me too Milu, me too...

All the hate surrounding this movie ... Well, I can see why some/many people don't like it. That's fine. I personally enjoy the movie, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't want to change a few things about it. So yeah, I can understand where people are coming from when they hate on this movie.

The thing that bothers me, though, is that people rag on the first two films now. Back in 2004, many fanboys were ready to kiss Sam Raimi's feet. Now in 2009, many fanboys say that he got Spider-Man all wrong to begin with and that the entire trilogy sucks. To me, that's like saying Superman I and II suck just because III and IV suck ... Or that Batman 1989 sucks just because the other three movies sucked.

What if Nolan's third Batman movie sucks? Will people say that Batman Begins and The Dark Knight suck just because of the third movie? Sounds ludicrous, doesn't it?

I'm well aware that there are plenty of people who don't like the first two Spider-Man movies to begin with, but those people made their decisions about those movies before Spider-Man 3. It's the fickleness among Spidey fandom that has become irksome for me.

^I guess SM3 made some people realized how bad the first two movies were. I'm not saying I didn't like the first two. I acutally love it.

It's an over-produced, neutered, and flawed movie, but it isn't as bad as it has a reputation for being.
First of all, Topher Grace being cast as Venom, was not a bad idea. He's fantastic as Eddie Brock; slimey, a bit unstable, and sympathetic. The fact that he's so skinny only serves to make the transformation more jarring when he becomes Venom.
Secondly, as much as I might thing it retroactively hurts the first film a bit, having Sandman be the killer of Uncle Ben isn't that bad of an idea. In point of fact, it was good. In a film about redemption and forgiveness, the notion that the trilogy ends with spider-man looking uncle ben's killer in the eye and saying "I forgive you" is powerful.
Finally, the "Saturday Night Fever" scene was funny as ****.
