from the 50s? i'm assuming that they rediscovered the footage in 1979?

I mean that truck doesn't look like its from the 50's. So I'm guessing the 70's like a few others said.

I thought the teaser was supposed to be the kids filming s*** in the 50's & noticing once played back that they captured an alien on screen. Why was this not the teaser?.

Trailer was pretty cool.

Triva! : Guy who did the trailer titles also did the titles for Fringe and the credits on Star Trek (Andrew Kramer)
i am a huge Andrew Kramer fan. bought some of hes DVD's and use hes plug ins.

i knew that he worked on this trailer. not only because he works a lot with JJ and hes work but because of hes lens flare plug in and titles.

the plug is used now almost all the time in short movies and fan movies. i wouldnt be suprised if they will use the Optical Flare plug in in TF3. its fast and has 1000 options.

this guy on an After effects software can do in 1 week more then 20 people in 1 month.

Apparently this movie is about some kids filming a movie with an 8mm camera in the 50s and while they're looking at their footage they notice they captured an alien on film. The alien came from the train. That's about all the info there is on the movie at this time.

could the movie be about little kids filming with the super 8 camera some location and then they accidentally see an alien(that run away) or monster?

:hehe:

Is it weird that one of the first things I thought off while watching the trailer was, "OH MY GOD, BEAR IS DRIVING, HOW CAN THAT BE?"

be funny if Richard Dryfuss is driving that pick-up...

Why not? It'd be a nod to Close Encounters of the Third Kind, seeing how Abrams is playing tribute to Spielberg and all...

Spielberg should also pay tribute to Abrams by having lots of lens flares and a smoke monster

The thing kicking its way out of the train is Chuck Norris. Duh.

As Nivek and Aesop Rocks mentioned with the nod to Close Encounters, there is a scene where Richard Dreyfus is stopped at the train tracks when some of the aliens fly over him. That was the first thing I thought of as well when I saw the truck and the train tracks in that teaser.

Guys guys guys guys...ladies...guys guys guys, listen, we all know it's the origins of the Hype Lag.

Maybe J.J Abrams tries his hand at the super hero genre and adapts the Japanese classic 8th Man.
