The monster looks fine, I mostly care about if the screenplay, direction and acting is good.
[SNOB]People on the internet love to complain about the unimportant thing in films. People in general like movies for the wrong reasons and are partly responsable for the currect crop of terrible films.[/SNOB]
It's snobby for me to expect semi decent acting and direction in a film?Well aren't you sophisticated. I'm sure Super 8 is will win awards for screenplay, directing and acting.
Ya see, I'm a fan of movie monsters and I mostly care about what the monster looks like and how much screen time it actually gets. So when a picture of the supposed creature comes to light, I'm going to judge it the same way you'd probably judge the little kids acting in the movie.
You talkin to me?You know that's not the monster, right?

I have no problem with judging the look of a monster in film as there are good and bad designs. I've criticized many a films monster design but to write off an entire movie or act really negatively because an unconfirmed image of a monster comes out is silly. If that picture is true, it's hardly something to worry about, it's not H.R Giger or anything but it's a pretty decent drawing.
I guess I just don't expect every monster design to reach Predator and Alien heights. Call me when something really important about a film looks bad.
I would like that design for the creature if it turns out to actually be a good guy. Abrams would be the one to pull something like that.
