If it's a good movie it's a good movie. If it sucks, it sucks. The look of the monster/alien/whatever it ends up being won't change that, so it's pretty much irrelevant.

You can see some kind of alien tentacle breaking the glass to grab the kid. Maybe the cube controls the beast?

Let's face it, as interesting as the cube would be as a biological entity, it's not dragging people away ferociously. My guess is that the cube may have some sort of biology, or maybe even sentience, but it's more likely a macguffin for the alien in the movie. It's been separated from the cube, and it wants/needs it back for whatever reason.

Just a thought, wouldn't it have been cool if Transformers was made THIS WAY instead? With this kid, filming a movie (maybe a robot movie) and accidently catches his dad's car transform one night?

I somehow think this kid, or one just like him, same look and age, would have been better for the Transformers universe had they started to release the first film now.
