Jack Kirby's New Gods

I can't believe the Wachowsky bros. wrote a script for Plastic Man (????) 10 years ago and no one even think of how to bring the New Gods into motion pictures.
I suggest an epic trilogy shot back-to-back.

Meanwhile, wich Darkseid should be used?

I like the modern look but the classic look is the only way to go for a movie. However, I hate Tan's Darkseid. He's too muscle bound. He should look like this:

I'd like the New Gods to be integrated into a Superman film, you know?

I'd rather they be integrated into the Justice League. I'd rather see Darkseid be taken as a threat so powerful that it takes more than just Superman to stop him.

New Gods has a very interesting potential to be the next Star Wars (but I say that about Green lantern too). What I dont understand though are peoples obsession with back-to-back sequels. Do they tend to be better than the ones that take a year off? Not really. The first couple were publicity stunts (at least IMO).


As for Plastic Man coming about before New Gods: different strokes. Especially when you look for a certain specific genre comedy/action/adventure with a partnership with DC comics Flash and Plastic Man first come to mind. Plas has the Blade effect where they could take much more artisitc licensing in changing the character a bit. But I digress.

Thinking casting Im a bit stumped. I would think the heroes would be either Orion or Mr Mircale or both. I heard Sean Maher as Miracle in other threads. It seems like a fit

Now this I don't agree with. Jack Kirby's "Fourth World" was an unfinished work as far as I am concerned. It would be a great opportunity for a writer and as director to retell the story and perhaps finish it so many films down the line. If it works out right, it could be used as a platform to spin-off other films (Mister Miracle, The Forever People, et. al.) and to even have the characters make appearances in other DC film franchises (i.e. Superman and Justice League).

Jack Kirby's New Gods should be on DCs to do list right now! I can't believe it hasn't already been done. Talk about some characters that are just screaming for a live action movie.

Done right, it would be one of the best comic book movies ever!!

Maybe I'm too stylish, but anyway I think Darkseid needs to look like he destroy anything. The classic picture doesn't make me think much of his persona, but the modern makes me think, get outta that guys way!

I look at it like Predator. Do you want tall lanky unmuscular predator or big muscular super power Predator. I want to see a formidable foe. So I say pack them full of power and muscle and demonic seed.

Darkseid shouldn't be wearing a swimsuit. He is a ruler not a wrestler.

michael ironside for darkseid. has the voice and presence, but maybe a little too old now.
