Jet Li Confirms Jackie Chan Team-Up

A few weeks ago, it was announced that Rob Minkoff was hired to direct the long anticipated movie that would team two of China's biggest stars, Jackie Chan and Jet Li, and when ComingSoon.net spoke to the latter for his upcoming martial arts epic, Jet Li's Fearless, we had to find out whether this pairing was really happening after many failed starts.

"Always there's rumors, rumors, rumors, for 15 years," Li told us, "but now… it's true! Next April, we're going to make a movie. Everybody's waiting for the producer and the director to announce."

We tried to push Li to reveal a bit more about the plot or premise of the movie, but he resisted, shouting (with a smile), "Don't be selfish! Let them tell the world!"

Apparently, it's going to be Jet Li's first movie for kids (and hopefully, it will be Jackie Chan's last.) Meanwhile, you can catch Jet Li in Jet Li's Fearless, which opens next week.

Rumor has it that the plot is a retelling of "Journey Into the West." For those uninformed of what that is, the name also goes by "Monkey King." It's a very famous Chinese folk story (1 of 4) detailing the travels of a priest and his companions, one of which being an expert-fighting monkey monk (haha). Dragon Ball, the original one, is based on it. Check out wikipedia for more info on that. Wikipedia has also listed a general premise for the movie: "The J&J Project is about a New York kid who travels to the ancient China to rescue the Monkey King and to learn the true meaning of Kung Fu."

True, but I want something along the lines of Rush Hour, Rush Hour 2 (Chan), and Lethal Weapon 4. (Li)
A movie like Jackie Chan's First Strike, Rumble to the Bronx, or Police Story would be nice, too.
