James Bond 24 - Part 3

The problem with the song is that Jack White ruins it. Alicia Keys should have been the only vocalist on the song.

Said it before and I'll say it again, Another Way to Die is a good track, its just tainted by having both White and Keys at the same time; if that would have just gone with either one of them , it would have been great. I still love the instrumental though.

Agreed.

How about Cillian Murphy for the next Bond?

Too creepy :wow:

Edit:Actually...I may have to think on that :hmm

What do people make of Chris Cornell's You Know My Name? It's not a traditional Bond song, and doesn't fall into the classic category. But by God, it gets my adrenaline going everytime!

It's an amazing song. Did you know that the song is written from M's perspective.

No, he's a lot more than that. He is entirely convincing as a 1920s Brummie gangster.

If he was to be picked in Craig's reign, I would be fine with it. I could see him being pretty close to the book's usual depiction of Bond.

But I'm hoping for an actor that will mirror the qualities of Sean Connery, since they're going back to the olden days for inspiration. At least I'm hoping.

I didn't actually lol
I thought it was always about Bond.

Just look at the lyrics. It's like a little lecture from M to Bond. :oldrazz:

If you take a life, do you know what you'll give
Odds are, you won't like what it is
When the storm arrives, would you be seen with me
By the merciless eyes I've deceived

I've seen angels fall from blinding heights
But you yourself are nothing so divine
Just next in line

Arm yourself because no-one else here will save you
The odds will betray you
And I will replace you
You can't deny the prize; it may never fulfill you
It longs to kill you
Are you willing to die

The coldest blood runs through my veins
You know my name

If you come inside, things will not be the same
When you return to my night
If you think you've won
You never saw me change
The game that we have been playing

I've seen diamonds cut through harder men
Than you yourself
but if you must pretend
You may meet your end

Arm yourself because no-one else here will save you
The odds will betray you
And I will replace you
You can't deny the prize; it may never fulfill you
It longs to kill you
Are you willing to die

The coldest blood runs through my veins

Try to hide your hand
Forget how to feel
(Forget how to feel)
Life is gone with just a spin of the wheel
(A spin of the wheel)

Arm yourself because no-one else here will save you
The odds will betray you
And I will replace you
You can't deny the prize; it may never fulfill you
It longs to kill you
Are you willing to die

The coldest blood runs through my veins
You know my name
(You know my name)
You know my name
(You know my name)
you know my name!
You know my name!
You know my name!

I've never really thought about it like that. I suppose it's a novel way to look at it. I've usually thought of it more as Bond himself speaking generally about the perils and pitfalls of becoming an agent and what one must through in order to succeed in this cutthroat business of spies. The "I will replace you" line I've thought of more as Bond saying he'll replace the previous agent who gets killed off, so no-one is really indispensable.

It doesn't really seem to make sense that M is saying "You know my name", when that line is normally attributed to Bond himself (eg the tagline "You know the name, you know the number."). And we don't know M's name as well, but we know Bond's.

Most Bond songs are usually told either from the perspective of Bond or from the Bond girl's perspective anyway, with the focus almost exclusively on Bond himself.

That's pretty awesome :D

Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga for the next theme song.
I enjoyed their Jazzy combo on the current album they made together.

Haven't had a boyband in a while :hmm

Didn't Westlife do an album of rat-pack inspired covers? I think it was called "Allow us to be Frank". They could potentially do a Bond song in that style, which would certainly be different from these female singers or the rock style of Chris Cornell. It would hearken back to the old days of the likes of Matt Monro and Tom Jones.

The problem is, if you want a smooth lounge sound for the next theme song, why not get an actual smooth lounge artist, rather than Lady Gaga or some boy band doing a smooth lounge gimmick? I know we want millenials to see this movie, but they're going to see it anyway because of the action, not because we get Ariana Grande singing the theme song.

The problem with the song is that Jack White ruins it. Alicia Keys should have been the only vocalist on the song.

Agreed.

I would say that the problem is also White's lyrics. Stuff like "slick trigger finger for her majesty", to me, just sounds cheesy and like one is trying way too hard to make Bond young and hip.

Cillian Murphy would be great.... Imagine he was Greene in QoS!

GoldenEye did have a good song.

The score was bad though. I mean, that ''Ladies First'' track... what was Serra thinking?!

yeah it had moments but for the most part it was bad I was so glad they ditched Serra's music for the traditional bond theme during the tank chase. here is a video with the music as it originally intended and I like the film version MUCH more.

I've said it before, but Laura Mvula should get a shot at a Bond theme.

Holy Odin, keep Westlife far away from this franchise! Gaga, too.

So after Craig, who would people like to see as Bond? I haven't given it much thought.

After seeing this pic of Tom Hardy

I thought, yeah, maybe. Or does he still look too brutish?

My choice would be Dan Stevens.

I've only ever seen him in The Guest, but he has a great on screen presence.

Tom Hardy was played quite a refined character in Inception. He is a possible contender.

I am currently feeling good about Cillian Murphy. His turn as Thomas Shelby shows he can do an alpha-male swagger surprisingly well, and there is no doubting his range as an actor; he seems to have a different voice in every role he takes. He has something about him as an actor- a kind of restrained energy- that I think would suit Bond very well.

<--- Cillian Murphy agreeing.

After Daniel Craig, I really hope we don't get a metro-sexual catalogue model type actor. Craig has expanded the role, to a degree.

Hmm, Cillian Murphy is an interesting choice. He's a great actor, and I really need to see Peaky Blinders.
