James Bond 24 - Part 3

Lana Del Ray for the next Bond theme. I also wouldn't mind another rock style song like 'You Know My Name".

I like that idea in theory, but I can't help thinking it will be too close to an Adele-type moody and mysterious song. Bond 24 is The Man back in business. He's no longer finding his place in the modern world, or out for heartbroken revenge, or coming back from the dead and rediscovering his past. It's Bond back in full force. I either want a cool jazz lounge song like FRWL or an aggressive, brassy thriller song like VTAK.

Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber should duet for the new Bond theme.

^How about some autotune galore in the vein of Madonna's "Die Another Day?" We'll have it sung by T-Pain.

God, that was probably the second worst Bond theme ever. Maybe even the worst.

I'm pretty sure it was Lee Tamahori that thought the song would be "hip and cool."

My only major wish for the next Bond is that Quantum is brought to a conclusion as the set up in CR and QoS established, and the head of Quantum is the modern, new interpretation of Blofeld, and that Felix Leiter is back with Jeffrey Wright, he and Craig work v well together.

If Quantum merged into SPECTRE, or something to the effect, and appeared in Bond 24, the fans would explode with delight. Or even if it's still just Quantum - a big organisation pulling global strings would be great in the next film.

Or maybe Quantum is a separate criminal organization that Bond destroys in the next movie, but as with all things, something else takes its place ...

I remember years ago Metallica were rumoured to be doing one of the Brosnan film (TWINE or DAD I think). My mind wonders how that may have ending up sounding like.

I'd keep Shirley Manson's song for TWINE. Madonna's song however, was terrible, much like her acting.

I think GoldenEye was the pick of the Brosnan era songs, Sheryl Crow's TND song I thought was different but maybe a bit too dramatic in its execution, Garbage's TWINE good but a tad too repetitive I found, DAD was awful, yet at the same time I can see a far more traditional composition saving it.

I understand reception to her song is mixed at best, however I respect her decision to keep her sound in tune with what she was doing circa American Life. Very electronic, stop start rhythms ala I'm So Stupid, etc.

GoldenEye did have a good song.

The score was bad though. I mean, that ''Ladies First'' track... what was Serra thinking?!

I think what makes GoldenEye such a good song is that Bono and The Edge captured the perfect blend of old and new, relative to the time it which it was recorded. And Tina Turner was possible the best choice of vocals harkening back to Shirley Bassey style vocal rendition.

Man, I am excited to see what Hoyte Van Hoytema will bring to the cinematography. Interstellar was jawdroppingly gorgeous looking film.

Whispering Statues is a very moody track. Don't listen to it at midnight on full volume!

I personally found the QOS theme to be much worse than DAD's. I can listen to DAD's now and not want to jab pencils into my ears, not so with QOS. The fact that it's sandwiched between two great theme songs doesn't help matters in that regard.

Also, why does SPECTRE need to come back? We already have a SPECTRE-like organization, just go with them. "Lets get rid of this shadowy worldwide criminal organization, only to replace it with ANOTHER shadowy worldwide criminal organization." Sounds rather pointless.

Said it before and I'll say it again, Another Way to Die is a good track, its just tainted by having both White and Keys at the same time; if that would have just gone with either one of them , it would have been great. I still love the instrumental though.

I agree, AWTD would have been far better as a solo piece, the music is actually pretty good, but the singing is awful.

I think DAD is a pretty good tune, but a very atypical Bond theme. It is also marred by association with the movie.

QoS has a terrible theme. It would be better had Alicia Keys sung it by herself, but the theme itself is really "by the numbers". It reminds me of MWTGG's in that respect.

I actually attempted to listen to Another way to Die last night...nope it still hasn't become anymore palatable. It's the musical equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. I really liked the credits sequence of QOS tho. Just a damn shame they put that horrible song over those nice visuals.

I don't like the song itself but the instrumental itself is fine. I can understand people wanting forward thinking in the franchise, but Shirley Bassey's song No Good About Goodbye worked much better against the title sequence. It contained snippets from Arnold's score too.

"Another Way to Die" sounds like a really uninspired song title. It's like White and Keys sat down, brainstormed, came up blank, then looked at the title "Die Another Day" and rearranged it to say "Another Day to Die" and swapped out the D for a W on the second word.

Maybe someone should use the tagline from "Edge of Tomorrow" as the basis for an all-encompassing Bond title generator: "Live. Die. Repeat." :o
