it starts out sort of well enough. I say sort of, because we have a villain who is some master hacker and stole a list of secret agents' true identities....so, glad we're stuck back in the 90's. And also we're supposed to think Silva is menacingly weird because he's always chuckling at things. okay.
But it really begins to fall apart when Silva wants to get caught for no good reason with an impossibly planned escape.
And then MI6 is being convened before a board of their peers to question the departments necessities and operations. When, anyone who is in a position to question the necessity of MI6 and how they do their business, would be well aware of the departments proceedings and would know exactly why MI6 needs to do business the way they do. It was all B.S. dramatics.
But then worst of all, we end up at james' childhood house to play a game of Home Alone. And there's silva, whos greatest assets are his patience, computer skills, and his meticulous planning....suddenly dumb enough to stumble into a situation where he shows no patience, has no computers to help him, and hasnt planned for any of this. this brilliant villain is suddenly stupid enough to go for this? i dont buy it.
and does anyone notice that silva won? he got everything he wanted. he wanted to embarrass MI6, kill M, and apparently he also has a sudden desire to die at the end too (which came out of nowhere). all of these things came true for him.
