James Bond In Skyfall

I thought TSWLM would feature in most lists despite that slightly dodgy insert close up of Moore. :D

My top 5:

The Hovercraft chase - Die Another Day

Bond ski escape - The Spy Who Loved Me

Destroying the facility/chasing the plane on a bike - Goldeneye

Bond vs Blofeld - For Your Eyes Only

Sabotage "Shocking...Positively Shocking" - Goldfinger

My top 5 pre-credits sequences in no particular order:

1. Goldfinger
2. Thunderball
3,. The Spy Who Loved Me
4. Octopussy
5. Moonraker

My top 10 Bond movies in descending order are:

1. From Russia With Love
2. Goldfinger
3. Dr No
4. Thunderball
5. You Only Live Twice
6. The Spy Who Loved Me
7. Octopussy
8. The Living Daylights
9. Moonraker
10. Casino Royale

My top 5 opening sequences...

1. You Only Live Twice (Bond dies! :wow: "Well... at least he died on the job")
2. Goldeneye (007 and 006 are the dynamic duo... and then 006 gets taken out... or so it seems)
3. Goldfinger ("That's as bad as listening to a Beatles concert without ear-muffs." Then Oddjob karate chops. Jill covered in gold paint. Then "Felix... the girl's dead.")
4. Casino Royale (Great opening black-and-white scene showing how Bond got his 00 status... grittier than he's ever been. Plus it has one of my favorite modern (of the last 30 years) Bond song in the beginning)
5. Die Another Day (the rest of the movie sucked... but I loved Bond fighting a new enemy (North Koreans) and getting captured and tortured (even if the Madonna song playing over it was terrible))

If anything it would be easier to answer which Bond pcs I DIDN'T like. Most of them are fantastic.

This topic really helps outline the fact that the Bond films had some of the best in camera stunt work of all time. The fact that the Moonraker skydive or TSWLM ski jump were done with REAL PEOPLE instead of all cgi tirckery is just astounding. The cargo plane/mid-air fight in TLD is just insane.

That's what annoyed me about Quantum of Solace. I couldn't really see what was going on. In the old days like with the ski jump in TSWLM or the car jump in TMWTGG you got a nice long shot with a perfect view of what was happening.

I'd much rather see it for real than just see a special effect.

There are only three pre-credit sequences I didn't like. DAF, LALD & AVTAK.

DAF's pts was awesome. Bond going around the world trying to hunt down blowfeld and strangling Marie with her bra. Awesome.

That I liked, but the fight at the clinic with all the mud was just terrible.

Was it because it didn't have Bond because I thought it was great. Seeing MI-6 agents getting hunted down was great for building up the villain.

3. Goldfinger ("That's as bad as listening to a Beatles concert without ear-muffs." Then Oddjob karate chops. Jill covered in gold paint. Then "Felix... the girl's dead.")

That's what you get for insulting the Beatles, even though it's true because of screaming girls. :funny:

But seriously, that's not the pre-credit sequence to Goldfinger.

I liked the campy fun of the DAF pts.

Eh, it killed whatever they were setting up from On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Instead of a serious showdown between Bond and Blofeld, we got a silly battle completely devoid of any emotion or tension.

Not just because it didn't have Bond. TMWTGG doesn't have Bond and I still loved the PTS because of Scaramanga. It is just very uneventful I thought. It sets up the plot okay, but isn't terribly exciting for a James Bond PTS. It feels more like the first scene to come after the title sequence.

It seemed more like it should be something from the Adam West Batman than a James Bond film.

It does feel like something that comes after, but i don't know, I feel like it felt more exciting just because it was the pre-credits sequence.

My top 5 pre-credits scenes:

1) Goldeneye - A brilliant re-introduction of 007 with the bungie jump, Also great team up with 006....... "For England James!!!"

2) The Spy Who Loved Me - Makes me feel great pride when i see the Union Jack Parrachute open. Also has one of my favorite lines of the series......"But James i need you" "So does England". Yeah you tell that *****!

3) Goldfinger - When Connery takes off his wetsuit to reveal his white Tux jacket i dont think he could get anymore cooler, even if he did have a duck on his head...

4) The Living Daylights - Brilliant opening scene set on Gibralta. Nice to see Bond on a training excercise with other 00's and the SAS.

5) Casino Royale - Love the black and white and a good introduction to Craigs Bond. I love the brutal toilet fight.

Honorable mentions - FRWL, Thunderball, OHMSS, Moonraker, Octopussy, VTAK, LTK, TWINE, DAD

 You're right. Damn, guess I need to watch Goldfinger again.

True Lies paid homage to that entire scene.

Three of the absolute coolest moments of Bond in my opinion (off the top of my head, there are definitely more) that doesn't include any dialogue or fighting are when:

Roger Moore revealing the Union Jack Parachute.

Connery takes off his wetsuit to reveal a tux in Goldfinger.

Pierce Brosnan adjusting his tie in the middle of a tank chase in Goldeneye. Yeah this may be a small one, but I thought it was so damn funny and cool that in the middle of all the insanity going on, that he was calm enough to care about his tie!

My top moment comes from Casino Royale.

the whole opening sequence sitting in the chair.

"well don't worry the second is"

BANG

"yes, Considerably"

Thats a Bond we haven't seen since Connery. A cold bloodied assasin.

I thought that was in The World Is Not Enough when his boat went underwater during the chase down the River Thames. I don't know about Goldeneye but I know it was definitely in TWINE.

What about in CR when Craig's Bond calmly strolls back to the poker table after almost dying and makes some quip about the last hand almost killing him (iirc). Le Chiffre just sits there seething. I thought that was pretty damn cool.

"Oh I'm sorry, that last hand...nearly killed me."

Classic and one of my favorite lines from a Bond movie.

My top 5 pre-credits scenes:

GoldenEye
The Spy Who Loved me
Die Another Day
The Living Daylights
For Your Eyes Only

As much as i love 'Live and Let Die' as a movie, it had the worst re-credit sequence of any Bond film.

It's not a moment exactly but for me Bond at his coolest is the scene in which he first crosses paths with Goldfinger and costs him the card game while taking his girl.

Its in GoldenEye (too), I know it very well because I love that little moment :)
