Okay, the direct link is making a big deal about some Serbian chick doing a cello-based score of the film? What's Carte Blanche, and why should I care?

Carte Blanche is actually the name of a new James Bond novel by Jeffrey Deaver.

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/08/29/new-james-bond-movie-seems-to-have-its-name-and-story/

[Bond] starts his assignment on the outskirts of Novi Sad in Serbia where an Irish sapper-turned-enforcer named Niall Dunne is planning to derail a train carrying three hundred kilograms of methyl isocyanate, dumping it into the Danube. Bond is able to prevent the catastrophe by derailing the train himself at a much safer place along the line. He is unable to detain Dunne, who kills Bond’s Serbian contacts in the course of his escape.

EON Productions officially deny bogus 'Carte Blanche' title rumours

Bond 23 - 30-08-11

An online report by newspaper Blic set the blogosphere alight yesterday with a bogus story about a Serbian musician who claimed the 23rd James Bond film would be called 'Carte Blanche' and would film in her native country.

'Carte Blanche' is the new 007 continuation novel by Jeffery Deaver from the literary estate of Ian Fleming, and is set partially in Serbia.

No 007 film has ever been based on a James Bond continuation novel, nor used the title from a non Ian Fleming story.

Long term Bond fans smelt a rat - and they were correct. Unfortunately, the majority of the movie news websites didn't perform a sniff test and ran the story without any basic fact checking.

MI6 will not be naming the musician to help stem the tide of free publicity she has received from this concocted story planted in the media.

Amongst the sites that fell in to the publicist's trap were: IGN, Collider, Geeks of Doom, Screen Rant, Slash Film, Den of Geek, Indie Wire, Bleeding Cool News and Comic Book Movie.

Blic ignored all correspondence about the story.

EON Productions officially shot down the bogus story today: "The new film is not going to be called Carte Blanche and will have nothing to do with the Jeffery Deaver book."

Despite the denial, expect to see lazy movie news sites continue to run the title 'news' for days to come.

India Green-Lights Bond 23 Shoot

31st August 2011

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry of India (I&B Ministry) have officially given permission for the 23rd James Bond film to shoot in the country.

Reports of the negotiations, which have focused on the tricky aspect of shooting a stunt sequence atop freight trains on the busiest railway in the world, have been ongoing for several weeks. Steady progress has been made, despite rumours that filming may switch to South Africa. Today's confirmation green-lights the Bond 23 team to commence pre-production in India. The proposal was initially filed in May. According the the latest report in the Times of India, EON Productions and India Take One Productions have been given permission to shoot in North Goa with the exception of the tunnel at Dudhsagar (south-eastern railway) and Zuari rail bridge over Zuari river (Konkan railways) due to security concerns. Sources said talks with the railway ministry were on regarding these particular locales. The ministry has also stated that it has no objection for shooting of the film at Mumbai and Goa, and has asked the crew to take all necessary precaution so as not to hurt the sentiments of local people.
Sources gave more location details to the Deccan Chronicle: "Clearance has been given by the government for shooting in Sarojini Nagar Market, Daryaganj street and Ansari Road in the national capital."

In Ahmedabad, the producers had sought permission to shoot near the Navagam area that is close to installations like Torrent Power limited, ONGC and IOC. The ministry has asked them to ensure that permissions are taken from the state government. "We have suggested that these vital installations be avoided during the shoot in this area," a source said.
MI6 understands that filming of Bond 23 in India with Daniel Craig will commence in January 2012.
Two major blockbusters have just completed shooting in India: "Batman - The Dark Knight Rises" and "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol".

I always found it funny how they constantly say that non of the post-Fleming books have never been used. So many of the movies use scenes, action sequences, plots from the Amis and Gardner books. I guess because they didn't use whole novels ... but that's the case with Ian too.

Im glad Carte Blanche isnt (supposedly) the title, don't really like it. The story itself sounds decent though

I can't wait until we get the official title announcement, as well as press with the entire cast possibly. Going to be three years since QoS and we're just two months away from filming. Exciting stuff I say.

Ya nice to see eon confirm title isn't set yet. And great to hear india is a go for shoot can't wait.

I think if they start shooting right now, they can still make it to December of 2012 as their release date.

October 2012 is the targeted release date for the film.

i think its nov 2012 like it was for some other films. and bond shoots pretty quickly. They start in nov and probably will be done in march. So it gives them a few months for post.

I love Carte Blanch for the title, and it's one awesome book too. I would recommend it to Bond fans, action fans, fans of a good thriller.

Well, a lot of the early Bond movies were near complete adaptations of them, especially the first four Bond movies and On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Near is relative, droping whole plotlines, characters, action scenes. Dr No alone has a miriad of missing characters scenes, all of the climax, not nearly enought of Honeychile Ryder.

Have you still not got over that??

Honeychile was a bit of a bizarre character in the book, though. The way that she had developed a kind of telepathic symbiosis with nature would be pretty difficult to work into a spy movie.

Have you noticed how many of Ian Fleming's Bond girls are perfect apart from one physical idiosyncrasy, like Honeychile's broken nose or Domino's shorter leg?

I'm still hoping the new Bond movie will be titled Risico or The Property of A Lady!

:awesome:

And it's a damn shame that Olga Kurylenko, who is such a beautiful actress, is wasted on that movie and doesn't even seem to have any kind of relationship with Bond whatsoever

Yeah but I doubt it would be as the main Bond girl. At most it would be a cameo or small part. They missed their chance to make full use of her character and her sex appeal. QOS was such a grim and frantically edited movie that it was hard to really appreciate much in there. She should've been in a more normal and more glamourous movie like Casino Royale.

Bond was still grieving from losing Vesper. The theme of QoS was about revenge and closure so him trying to get with Camille so soon would've been inappropriate and contradictory. Yes, I know he shacked up with Fields, but he didn't give a sh** about her and only did it to buy himself more time since he was on the run from MI-6.

Has Carte Blanche been debunked as the film title? It's possible that they were just talking about the music made for the book trailer.

Yes, EON confirmed the title is not Carte Blanche.

All you had to do was scroll up the page a little bit to get your answer.

Adele has fuelled rumors that she will record music for the next James Bond movie during an appearance on Jonathan Ross's new ITV chat show.

The 'Set Fire To The Rain' singer let slip on the first edition of The Jonathan Ross Show that her next musical project would be a "theme", later becoming embarrassed when the 50-year-old host proceeded to reference the iconic spy series.

"I'm going back in the studio in November, fingers crossed," she stated. "Well, this is actually a theme, what I've got to do. Wow, that's really giving something away."

Blushing as Ross started humming the opening tune to previous James Bond installments, Adele added: "No. It's a concept. One song."
