But there ARE too many superhero movies. And well, if most of them were good it wouldn't matter I believe... And for sure I'd have liked Cameron's version much more than Raimi's.

Heard the same thing from the general public as well, does that stop them from seeing something like Iron Man 2? Hell no...

theres also too many dramas and comedies....

Have you actually seen the treatment he had for Spider-Man? I mean, say what you will of Raimi's Spider-Man, but Cameron's treatment was insanely, I say INSANELY off target.

Would I like to see a Cameron's X-men movie with sentinels or his version of Transformers war on Cybertron?

Hell yeah!

His version would blow away Bay and Singer.

It might even have a plot and some character depth too...

if there is one superhero movie that Cameron should have done its wonder women.

i know that you dont want to hear it but he is almost the only one who is writting badass women in action scenes. and for WW you need this.

Yeah it'd be great to have even MORE inconsistencies with the Spider-man/Peter Parker character than the Raimi films have given us already!

But I agree. Waaaayyy too many superhero movies. It comes to a point where I really cant say Im as excited as a used to be when they'd come out. I'm really just waiting for Batman 3 at this point, the rest i'll see but im not excited for them. Hollywood needs to take a break with this, people when get tired of them fast. Especially since most of them have the same old formula

He is absolutely right, there are way too many and unnecesary ones, plus the SPIN-OFFS! Let's not forget those either. Totally useless.

James forgot to add....to many Man Boy comedies...to many Judd Apatow films...too many terrible Horror movie remakes....F that too many terrible remakes period.... TOO MANY GODDDAM SAW MOVIES...too many Superhero Date Epically Scary movies......the list goes on and on.

I mean to say there are too many superhero movies is to say there are too many gangster movies or R Rated Comedies.

Compared to other genres there are not that many superhero films. And also there are a good amount of 1st tier heroes who havent gotten the big screen treatment

Superhero movies used to be an event. Now, they are commonplace. They arent special anymore. Camerons right.

I bet if Cameron said there were too many Jews and Blacks in Hollywood people would agree with that

Why does a movie need to be an event or a anything of that nature. It's just a ****ing movie. Eventually a genre becomes popular and becomes mainstream. I thought that's what people wanted. I don't get it. First people ***** about no or not enough films now we are complaining that there are too much. What do you guys want?

hey Kenshin...long time no chat...

I agree with you, I think the fans want every superhero movie heralded from the highest mountain, as if they are all the second coming

Yeah I have been MIA for a while. I agree completely. I would have more inclined to agree with theses statements if he had maybe said that there are too many bad superhero movies. That I believe is the real problem.

There aren't that many superhero movies coming out next year.

Iron Man 2, Green Hornet, Jonah Hex...any others?

I think the bigger problem is that they're aren't enough action movies that aren't adaptations. I mean, I've enjoyed most of these superhero movies and reboots, but I've reached a point of saturation where I have limited interest in them.

With a scant few exceptions, I wouldn't care if they didn't make a comic movie or a reboot for about five years.

James honey! Don't say the cake tastes bad just because you can't have a piece of it.

Here's another one! THERE'S TOO MANY REMAKES!!! and TOO MANY SPOOF's

Superhero movies at least have varying genre's. Dark Knight is crime-drama (The Departed), Iron Man is high concept adventure (Indiana Jones) and Green Lantern will be Space Opera (Star Wars).

However, there have been too many BAD Superhero movies but I dislike the "the guys that would not be asked to speak at the annual superhero dinner" comment. What like Scott Pilgrim, Kick Ass and The Losers? What so only the big guys deserve the spotlight?

Why you making Battle Angel then? Make Gundam or Ghost in the Shell or Akira!

I think that was the point Cameron was trying to make without being so direct. The majority of the superhero films arent good. An oversaturation will cause this. There doesnt have to be 4 to 5 films a year based off comic books. Sooner or later quality will begin to waver, and in some cases quality was never there. Thinga run in cycles with Hollywood, I think the superhero films are at the beginning of the downslope. Just my opinion. :)
