James Cameron's "Avatar" Thread v.4

I cant believe after months of it being out ,people still gather to see this. I would just wait for the dvd but thats just me.

seeing the packed house for the avatar rerelease, I think instead of the constant stream of remakes they should just release the classics, for example;

terminator
alien
aliens
blade runner

all movies I didn't get to see at the cinema

Even though I'm not the biggest fan of this, I know I'm a minority I've been itching for a long time to see the "Blade Runner-ish" city at the beginning. That may be worth it for me to purchase this edition of the blu.
it will be on youtube in less then 10 days :woot:

That was a pretty common thing to do in the past before video was well established in most homes. As late as 1985, for example, you had re-releases of both Ghostbusters and Gremlins.

watch ''Jeremy's Dragon Corner: Avatar & Space Dragons'' on youtube. it has cursing so we can not post it here.

:awesome:

Alright, I just saw this yesterday with my wife. I really did NOT want to see it when it initially came out. I thought it looked "gay."
Well when I heard about the re-release, I started to consider seeing it, especially since it was going to be in 3D. I talked to Storm about it and he was really on the fence about going to see it, but told me that if I did decide to see it, then I should see it in 3D. I had not seen a 3D movie in many many years, so I decided that I would give it a shot.

I talked to my wife about it and she was against it, but after a little while, she changed her mind and said she would give it a shot.

Anyways, enough of the rambling, on to the movie.
Ok, so it was very predictable, because the story had been used before (Pocahontas, etc). So, already "knowing" the plot, I wont complain too much about that aspect.

There seem to be a lot of holes, or at least things that werent explained, in the story. This kind of bothered me, since I felt that it was important for me to understand. But, whatever, I know, its just a movie and we need to let our imagination take over. But I guess for $16.50 a person, I wanted it spoon fed (LOL).

I know my concerns have probably been spoken on here many times. I havent read a single post in this thread, so my thoughts here are my own.

Anyways, it was good, enjoyable. My wife liked it.
It was NOT this incredible, groundbreaking, heart string pulling epic that SOME have made it out to be.
4 out of 5 stars. (slightly rounded up).

Oh and the Tron 3D trailer looked pretty good.

it is if you look at the technical aspect, theres nothing like it today.

new pics from yahoo. i think they are from the re-realese.

The added scenes will definately be an incentive to watch the film again. There's no purpose in buying a 3D tv just to watch Avatar.

I've seen the 3D TV's they suck! The pixels on the edge of things that pop out are not small enough to not being distracting.

until 3DTV come without glasses I don't think they (the tv's) will take off and even then it's not sure the general audience will think its worth the hassle.

what about video games? i could see people buying 3d Tv's because of games.

there might be people that were int he military , etc that missed the chance to see this in theatres . I can see why it would be worth it to them .
i would see it again in theatres if i knew someone that didnt get the chance, i'd take them . i'm fine watching the blu ray at home though.

Lol as it Avatar hasn't already broken enough records

Otherwise, the generally sluggish, late-summer weekend's notable development was 20th Century Fox's overseas introduction of a "special edition" of "Avatar" at 1,046 screens in 14 markets for a gross of $4.26 million. That was more than enough to push director James Cameron's scifi blockbuster past the $2 billion foreign-gross mark (offshore cume stands at $2.002 billion).

While the billion dollar mark is reached more frequently , with the exception of Titanic and Avatar , all movies have reached that mark with the combined numbers of both domestic and foreign numbers.
Titanic and Avatar are the only movies that have made more then 1 billion from foreign markets alone and now Avatar has truly set thebar high enough with $ 2 billion :awesome:

this was the only reason they realesed it again in the theater.

again its not the same like SW or other movies. it was re-realesed 4 months after.

now its time for Cameron to start working on Battle Angel. ohhhhhhhhhhhh i went there. ;)
