James O'Barr...

i'd definately buy this if it came out...looks like it would be a cool change

i just dont understand the nails, what did he fall off a building and roll through a construction site?

If he cleans up the art and doesn't do his version presenting it as final then yeah obviously, he's an awsome artist.

If he does a continuity style book, even one like Arkham Asylum, and has Batman with a gun it'll ruin it. The cigarette I can handle, the nails are odd but meh...

i'd love to see a one shot or limited series (think: The Long Halloween..just not on such a grand scale) drawn by James O'Barr and written by Scott Levy (current TNA Wrestler, and comic book fan, Raven).

wow you guys are just nuts.

honestly fans (and bat fans especially) need to relax. o'barr on a bat book would be awesome. keep the gun, smoking and nails..it just looks cool and if it's an elseworlds book then whats the problem?

i cant believe how many of you were complaining about the gun if it was an elseworlds book and i'm especially disappointed by the comment about how you want him on a book but not if he was doing his version. thats just stupid thinking.

why would you want someone on a book but not want then to do their interpritation? thats just plain idiotic especially in the comics medium.

I want him on a mainstream book, and that would mean dropping the interpretation of Batman as some kind of vampire-esque gun-toting madman.

I think O'Barr would be fun to see on a Bat book of any kind, Ive only read his crow work so I dont know what else he could do.

Im sure I would love it, but I dont think it would sit very well with others.

WOW a lot of those pics were brilliant I'm a fan of the original The Crow by O'Barr so I would've loved to have seen his take on my favorite character's world.

Id love to see it too lets hope DC gets off their butts and put it out...I mean it's just sitting in a drawer somewhere in the DC office!

James would be great for Batman.

He mentioned the Batman/Crow crossover at the Dallas Comic Con last year when I gave him a hardback copy of my OWN fan fiction crossover of the characters.

I think it would be quite interesting to see.

CFE

From what I see keep him away from Batman.

Ironic, coming from someone with the avatar you have. "All change is bad, even when not in continuity! But make up Joker is great!!!!"

Hypocrite much?

Couldn't have said it better myself Mr.J :)

I was gonna say it looks weird having Batman hold a gun and nails on his costume but you are absolutely right. Its his interpretation of the character. If a writer changes something, then they are not fully expressing themselves.

If O'Barr feels thats how his Batman should be then let him be. However, there are those enthusiasts which can't stand change and that's pretty unfortunate.

Some more O'Barr Batman

Dammit I want to see this story!

What's with all the nails and cigarettes?

I don't like this.

He's badass, over the top Batman. Seriously, he should be drawing All Star instead of Lee.

I wouldn't mind that either. But his artwork would work better with his own story.

I agree, I dont think James could do the character the way he draws him justice if he were to go off of some one elses drawings. Of course his own wacked out tale has me interested, I want to see what he would do differently with Batman.

give him a book. if Burton and Schumacher can have movies and do whatever they want then this guy can too.

These pictures reminds me of Frank Miller's Batman. Maybe he and O'Barr should get together after Miller and Jim Lee's run on All-Star. That will be the most unstable Batman we would ever see.

It would be an awesome experiment. O'Barr is mad talent.

Hell, he could call it Batman: Guns, Nails, and Cigarettes. :word:
