Lee Bermejo and Brian Azzarello's Joker Graphic Novel

that was batman taking her down, harley and joker got out of control killing innocents

I read this a long time ago, but only recently did I join this forum. I understand where both sides are coming from with this novel. It does seem to be a *love it* or *hate it* story.

I loved it for TWO reasons:

1. It showed the Joker in a reimagined light that made you really despise him.

2. It showed that Batman is an ABSOLUTE BADASS. While only being in the book for a few panels, he leaves an indellible impression on the reader. When Gotham needs the Joker stopped...go to Batman.

Another reason I should probably add...the artwork was phenomenal.

ya, I have read many complaints that they don't like Joker portrayed like that. I found it very refreshing esp. with the new Joker love that came after TDK. It is like people who idolize Che Guevera but don't see some horrific acts that they don't do.

I really liked the bat-signal Harvey painted. It was the Batman begin's one.

It's just like the public's fascination with serial killers. We all despise what they do, but we want to know more. I really loved Joker in this book. I think he is a perfect amalgamation of comic and TDK. I liked the fact that he had the scars, but he was still perma-white.

yeah that was cool. By the way, how many posts do we have to do in order to put an avatar?

I really enjoyed how different this novel was over the other incarnations of the Joker in the other comics. I like how he can morph and adapt and change.

yeah tat's part of the charater we tend to forget but it's great. Joke could be recast usin that, and it wouldn't be a heath impersonation

It's been a good while since I last read this, but I remember digging it. I didn't like the portrayal of Croc in it, but it was an otherwise good read. The Joker is truly a sick SOB in this comic and I dug the more vile portrayal of him.

There is nothing I'd want more than for the same creative talent to make a sequel to this comic. Is there any way we could make a petition to convince them? There is so much to the world that they created that can be explored.

heah guys, i cant find the rabbit page anywere, could u help me out?
i want to show it to some freinds

I'm pretty far behind all of y'all but I just read it...and really liked, very entertaining...

Really dug all the interpretations of Face, Ed and Penguin...Riddler reminded me of Han from the Fast and the Furious franchise...always thought the Riddler would be cool as a Jap...But anyways...anyone else think that Batsy's sole little line seemed out of character...at least that's what I thought...

Why, because it was funny? lol I'm kidding :yay:

'Way I see it, what he said was what the Joker was already thinking. It may or may not be the actual reason (a nice side-effect, at most, IMO), but it did rile him up even more to the point that he **** and attacked Batman. Only problem is that Jonny was still in the way, hm... There's probably some deeper meaning/reason for the mocking, but I'm tired lol :o

This Batman is so reticent; forgoes a good verbal sparring match, lets the Joker ramble and accuse and then gets the last word in (and some kicks and punches). Beautiful. Their spat-fests are stellar, but this isn't the comic for it.

Just read it for the nth time and it's still fun. Right up there with DA and TKJ in this regard *mental tally*

Batman is a jerk. =P Fitted him nicely.

Well...I don't think that Bats actually meant what he said...and really did just want to zing Joker's ass to shut him up...but...if he did mean what he said then it shows how obsessed Bats is with Joker...

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I just wanted to give my two cents on the Bank Robbery scene. I believe:

1) The picture was supposed to have semen - not blood - on it, and some of the semen was filled in red to avoid having to make the comic "Mature Readers" only. However, they left a few white stains to make sure that keen eyes would spot the true meaning of the frame. This was probably a compromise between Azzarello/Bermejo and the execs at DC.

2) The semen belongs to the Joker. While several other Joker interpretations show him as someone who revels in making other people do horrible things, this Joker seems to be mainly focused on doing horrible things to people. This book hits us over the head with how Joker does all the nasty bits of crime himself. This one is not into the whole "corrupting others" thing. He just wants to **** **** up himself. Because of this, I think he wanked it all over the photo. I don't think he forced the Bank manager to do it himself.

No the semen is the Father's. Joker states how he loves driving people or something, referring that he made him... well spank the monkey on his own daughter's picture.

I haven't read this comic since I bought it when it first came out but I really enjoyed it. My favorite rendition of the Joker will always be the classic one like in The Killing Joke but it is refreshing to have a different take sometimes. Really liked the gritty feel of it. The arkwork was incredible.

Is it me or is Azzarello's quiet killer Harley Quinn is similar to, if not based off of Katya from Die Hard With a Vengeance?

My biggest problem with the Joker in this comic was his sexuality... I just find that to be lowbrow and beneath the character... But that's just me

Does anyone else think it's hilarious that the guy who deciphered the meaning of the *********ing bank manager scene and posted it on SHH! calls himself "FrackingOff"?

LOL

Bermejo is bringing out another Batman book, maybe for Christmas
