James Wan and Leigh Whannell's Insidious

^^ Good. Well, I guess I'll be seeing it this weeknd. Though, not before I see Scream 4. Scream 4 is a must.

I found this movie to be good. Up to the point where [BLACKOUT]they start talking about Astral projection and the Dad goes and leaves his body to travel to find the son which to me just broke the mood of the movie[/BLACKOUT].

Then it got ok again but it was pretty predictable (to me at least) the twist ending.

Saw this last night and it ruined my ****. Great, great, horror movie. Strong characters, good direction, perfect scares and AMAZING music. Really loved it.

This movie has LEGS. Haven't seen it out, but word of mouth is making it a monster hit for upstart FilmDistrict.

im very interested in seeing this and i havent really heard anything about it either. i have faith in the saw guys and i gotta say, paranormal activity 2 scared the hell out of me, that never happens for a whole film. maybe a scare or 2 in a movie makes me jump, but pa2 just genuinely spooked me to the core. nobody i kno will see this with me, i think going and seeing 'scary' movies are more fun when you have a group that way you can laugh at each other getting jolted by stuff

Well, I can agree with one thing: It's better than "Paranormal Activity."

But I was horribly let down. As a horror movie lover, I went in with high expectations (all the positive reviews claiming it was "frightening") I was very excited. But man...it fell into cliche' horror movie hell when they started using the music for scares ("BAM!!"). The first 20 minutes were good, I'll give it that. But if you only have enough money in your horror movie budget for face paint and finger armor for your "demon" don't show the damn thing 30 minutes in...my friend and I literally laughed out loud. The demon was scarier when it was in the shadows. Glad to see Darth Maul getting work again in Hollywood though. And the first time we actually see a "ghost" it's some guy in a black trench coat. Someone said in the audience "Hey I think I saw that guy last weekend downtown at the pub."

It was like walking through your local haunted house attraction, people in make-up jumping out at you.
And the psychic lady naming the "other side" the "further" was pretty eye-rolling. Get it? Because your soul is further away from your body? GET IT?!...
I liked the paranormal investigator stuff though, very "Poltergeist"-y.

But if your between the ages 10-16 you might enjoy it. Or if you don't ever watch horror movies at all.

i loved that the ghosts and the demon weren't a bunch of horse**** cgi. one of the best things about the movie and the first time the demon was shown over nite owl's shoulder, everyone in my theater gasped and jumped. very effective. reminded me of the face that shows up in the background of scenes in the exorcist.

I heard a lot of good things about this movie. I really have high expectations. Can't wait to see it!

It's on DVD now. Just watched it. Not too bad. I really miss the old days of the R horror films. They could have done so much more with a nice R rating.

Maybe they didn't feel the need to make it more explicit in content. And last time I checked, plenty of R rated horror films are still made.

Picked this up yesterday and watched it just now. I still love it, very intense and creepy film. Can't wait for James Wan's next, so far I've loved all of his work.

Saw it on bluray! Loved it! They weren't kidding when they said this was one of the scariest movies to come out in a while.

Sure I have some complaints story-wise, like why did they need a second son close in age to the one in the coma if he's never gonna show up again for the rest of the movie? The beginning started off pretty slow, with like, creaking house, misplaced items, simple stuff, but once it got going it didn't let up. It got creepier and scarier, and it was awesome.

Good visuals, good scares, great music, acting was never overboard and all in all, a good old fashioned scarefest. And to the poster earlier, since when is using music along with the scary moments that make you jump to enhance the effect considered cheap? That's the very definition of what makes scares in any movie work, it's either that or a sound effect. There were some interesting concepts introduced in this one, and for it's budget it was quite the spectacle:up::up: 8/10

This movie was awesome. I was expecting another by the numbers haunted kid movie that I've already seen a dozen times but the execution really raised the bar. Not been this creeped out by a horror film since I was a kid. Loved it. 8/10

this was technically the most profitable movie of the year lol... well deserved

I just saw that this movie was screened at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), and I guess it's actually really scary. I didn't see a thread on it, so I figured I'd make one.

I had the unfortunate pleasure of watching this clip at 5 AM, and trust me, it's pretty freaky but so damn good.

Those two Australian guys have achieved great success in such a short time. They're featured in the Australian magazine of Inside Film, and their history is very impressive.

This movie reminds me of Drag Me To Hell....freakin' awesome.:up::up:

I saw this last night and had trouble sleeping. Its a pretty creepy film...especially the redface demon

****ing movie junmped the shark half way through and never recovered. Seriously, it was scary as hell and awesome the first like 50 minutes, but then, when the, oh gods WHY MOVIE WHY!? They completely ruined it, I couldnt believe it, didnt they learn anything from PA? Less is more, what we cant see is more scary! Thats the whole point! Goddamnit movie!

The last half looked like a ****ing videogame and completely ruined the illusion. I was really embraced in the movie from the begginning, but when "that" **** started, it pulled me out instantly. I almost had tears in my eyes for the sorrow I felt for the movie and what the filmmakers did to it.

It went from a 9/10 to a 3/10

In our world this demon is a almost like shadow, but in his dimension he is a tangible solid thing so of course your going to see more of him. It wouod be like a demon in hell. Its not going to creep and hide in its own environment. Sorry you didn't like it but I like it from beginning to end. Still holds up after 4 viewings.

imo they shouldnt have shown the demons world at all. thats the fundemental thing the movie did wrong.

Oh. I enjoyed that myself, but I understand why others wouldnt.

i think the only part i didn't like was the wall crawl.

And the fact it was just a dude with face paint and finger armor.
