You must be in highschool or ignorant to rap.

I'm 21, and I like alot of rap. Old school stuff is my favorite, mostly NWA, Dogg Pound, Run DMC. DMX is always good too. Jay Z sucks, and Eminem is only good for comedic value. This "you arent a true fan if you dont like X!" is a stupid, played out argument by the way.

First half would make for some interesting teen-angst poetry. Second half I could care less about.

Flow being... what, exactly? Tempo? I'd love me some coloratura rap.

WHo determine poetry???

ok so I guess your another ignorant rap hater cause though you may not like Eminem...He is FAR from sucking.
you're not open to anyone's opinion are you? And you wonder what happened to hip hop... :whatever:

From your list you haven't heard real lyrical stuff cause out of everyone you've mentioned...Kurpt of the dogg pound, and very old DMX was lyirical or impressive. Good music, but as for lyrical mastery??? None of what you have mentioned is even on that tip. Ice Cube at once and Kurupt were beats and could be compared to the likes of Em and Jay, at once, but with what you've said I can understand why you would think two of some of the greatest emcees alive SUCK. Look at your list of what you think is better

Well, I'm going to go listen to some Sondheim. I look forward to seeing further results in this thread tomorrow.

Yes, because your opinion is of course the measuring stick by which all MCs are measured. You know who I think the best rapper out there is today? MC Frontalot. He's f**king awesome, and better than Jay and Em combined.

Just because someone doesn't share your opinions, doesn't make them ignorant.

I agree, but ignorance is not necessarily a negative thing. To say Eminem Sucks, you are ignorant to his music and Hip Hop in general and no NOTHING of Hip hop. It's like saying Bruce Lee was a horrible martial artist...What the ****???? that's how I feel about that. They would have to be ignorant to Martial Arts to say such a misguided statement. Now if you don't like Bruce Lee's style, That is understood, but to question his ability to do what he does GREAT, then that is ignorance.

You're on crack... have you ever heard Run?

While I find that Godmans opinions are worth didly squat, that had to be the most snobby thing I've ever heard.

People like you are the reason theater goers get such a bad wrap.

*OPINION

I grew up listening to Hip Hop/Rap/ and R&B. Ignorant I am not.

...basing his old music on his looks gives you so much credibility kb

No... that's just a picture that adds to his dorkiness. Jay's old stuff was at most decent... nothing prolific, clever or mindblowing. No wannabe emcee emulates Jay-Z's style. Nobody gives Jay-Z props at freestyle cyphers... and if they do they get beatdown.

Here's a good example of Jay-Z's "old music". You'll have to wait 'til near the end of the video but it just really shows that his "old music" wasn't nearly as nice as Em's style.

You're on crack... have you ever heard Run?

Yea I have, but at that time i was too busy been wrapped in the far more superior Krs Ones and Rakims at that time. Run was not wack, but has not aged well. If I can listen to something now and still feel, WOW that person was waaaay ahead of his time then I can put them on my list. Run DMC were significant, but nothing lyrically amazing.

He is right, you are ignorant of my real name. That is not a bad thing.

People just jump to getting all hurt and sensitive so they lash out and don't think deep as they attack. Went and found a terminology that actually PROVES my point, but anyway it's you either like Eminem or Jay Z. I would have put "other" if I needed OTHER opinions on the matter of Hip Hop.

Having an opinion different from yours does note equal ignorant. I could go on for pages about how awesome I think NIN is, on several levels including technical and lyrical ones, but just because someone else was to say "hey, I don't like NIN," that doesnt automatically mean that person is ignorant...they just have bad taste...I mean, different taste than me ;)

But she has to make up for Bamfer... whose skills are far from mad and crazy.

btw Godman... I posted this in your other, deleted, thread.

You've got some pretty decent tracks on your myspace page. I'm liking Microphone Crazy the best. Know My Style is a monster and left me shaking my head to free my ears of the bass aftertaste. Good stuff overall and you definitely break the southern rapper mold.

Saying I don't like NIN is not the same as saying NIN sucks without any reason to justify such a bland and irrelevant statement.

I already6 explained the ignorance thing so you can go back and read some of that.

I never said it was mindblowing, I said it was better then Eminem. :cwink: And I stand by it.

I beg to differ. And for the record, this may help explain your question of what happened to hip hop:

*comes in expecting half the thread to be an argument about rap's credibility as a musical art form*

*leaves knowing things haven't changed*
