Jeff Smith's Shazam: The Monster Society of Evil

In an additional note, I've always thought that Billy and Cap were two seperate beings. They just transpose planes of existance. However, I am disappointed that the power of Zeus is the ability to traverse time and dimension. I thought it'd be neat if Cap could throw lightning, not just summon it with the magic word. But you can't win them all. It is good that it was finally explained in canon, though.

Chuckymack, I agree with you about all the things you said about Captain marvel, your exactly right.

For all the folks that have a problem with the art saying it's terrible...why's that? Cuz it's actual ART??? Cuz there is true storytelling/craftsmanship etc in EVERY panel of EVERY page and not just "every panel is a potential poster/action figure" like is in a good portion of comics these days. Smith is doing a fantastic job both writing and drawing this book.

And I have a theroy that the folks who downright hate this book are the ones who are reading Winick's piece of crap Shazam title and loving it. Sorry folks Winick is WRONG, the Marvels don't need to be "updated" or "dark and edgy".

Alex Ross should do a Shazam! limited series.
His Captain Marvel is the best IMO.:cwink:

Alex Ross should be banned from having anything to do with the creative process in comic books.

I think someone should maybe show Ross the creative process.

And while he can paint some nice pics I stil lthink that there are far better painters in the industry today. Paola Rivera and Essad Ribic are miles ahead of Ross.

hmm not really. paola rivera is good, alex ross is alot better then him tho. rick berry (eternals covers) is awesome tho. i agree that there artist out there who are better then ross. but i dont think rivera is one of them.

I'd say it comes down to a matter of opinion, but Ross's popularity cannot be denied.
Personally I've loved Marvels, Kingdom Come, The X trilogy (Earth,Paradise, & Universe), and now Justice. I look forward to anything he does.
....But that's just my humble opinion.:cwink:

i hated the x trilogy. ross needs to exclude himself fromthe writing process.

Well let me say this. I enjoyed it because it was a good alternate reality story and Ross did a great job of incorporating every aspect of the Marvel Universe and its' heroes, but I am glad it's not in continuity.
I didn't mean to get off topic on this thread.
So.. though I'll follow this mini series to its' end I do not want Smith's Captain Marvel to be canon.

There are just some aspects of his interpretation that I don't prefer. Such as Billy and Cap being two separate beings and baby Mary Marvel to name a couple. I don't hate it, I just like Ordway and Ross's take on him better. And the art is just mediocre.
