BvS Jena Malone is in Batman v. Superman... Which role is she playing? - Part 1

I can't believe they considered putting Barbara Gordon in this. It's already bursting at the seams.

I think we could have had Lex more low key, and honestly much less screentime where his involvement was more to introduce him to the fray, but not show everything at once. This version of Lex just did too much in general! I'd of preferred just a couple of scenes without all the quirky ticks.

You don't think this is packed to the gills like ASM 2?

Not in the least. The JL set up was minimal, it wasn't like suddenly there was a bunch of other characters appearing, just a, what, 6 minutes or so with a snippet to set up other characters. I'm sorry but I don't think the film was all that bloated or with elements that I didn't get why they were there. The film never dragged for me, which I can say about some other more well regarded around here type films in the CBM world. Sorry but I just don't see it that way, and I am not one that thinks things just because I am a "fan" or the like.

I'm not just talking about JL set-ups, although that was a problem for me. I'm referring to all the plot threads and moving parts that the film would spend a minute or so on before quickly jumping to the next thing. I certainly disagree and find this movie to be as bloated as I've ever seen a CBM.

The thing is that all these elements overlap nicely. If you look at them as mutually exclusive elements, it seems overstuffed but that's not how it's woven into the film. The Justice League stuff is relevant to the story of Bruce's discovery of Superman and Lex's arc and so on. It's not an entirely separate storyline as people have decided to pretend.

I'd say it's bloated, but I'd also say that Snyder and co. showed genuine passion for just about every piece, so in comparison to ASM2 the bloating had an attraction to it; there was a purpose beyond shilling someone else's film because Snyde likes all the material.

Don't get me wrong, still bloated, but more edible, if that makes sense. Like ASM2 was a meal that's too large with some things you aren't even going to touch on the plate because you know how bland they are, while BvS was more like an overstuffed plate with too many good things in it. You'd eat what satisfies you on the first one then throw it away, but probably strain your stomach in the second.

Part of me wonders if Jena Malone ASKED to be cut after she saw the film. Like, "Hey Zach? Yeah, I already have Sucker Punch on my resume thanks to you. I don't need to be associated with this too."

She's in the GCPD building when Clark goes to investigate Batman...

Bye!

The GCPD building. Why...shes could be absolutely any woman who just happens to be hanging around there.

Was I the only one that saw Malone in the Knightmare sequence? I haven't seen anyone talk about this.

You don't even get a full shot of her face but at one point, for a split second, as Batman is fighting you see him help someone up who is partially off screen towards the bottom. You can see what looks obviously like a woman wearing some kind of small robin or nightwing type covering over her eyes (or black paint to make her look like one of the "sons of batman" from TDKR) with longish hair going forward. She kinda looked like a punk rockish version of carrie kelly. You don't even get the full face, just mid face on up at the bottom of the screen. I wasn't even looking for it, but I caught it on my second viewing of the film.

Nice catch, I see what you're talking about, I never noticed that woman before. Maybe you're right, I can buy that. Maybe that's part of an extended Knightmare sequence where we see him interact with her.

I think the Knightmare sequence is one of the extended scenes for the ultimate edition. In the comic con trailer we see a shot of people riding on horses in that desert landscape that isn't in the movie. In the film there's a bit of an awkward transition. Batman exits a bunker, looks around, then a quick cut to trucks entering that area we see Batman fighting in in the trailer. I think there is something in between those two points where we might see Batman on horseback (homage to TDKR) with his "sons of Batman" crew along with Malone's character in a Carrie Kelly type role.

If memory serves, one of the horse riders said that the scene happened at the start of the film and included Amy Adams, so I think it's more likely that's part of the extended Africa sequence.

Judging by the trailer for the extended cut seems like she is
Cat Grant

Sorry if this has been suggested already, but perhaps she's Vicki Vale?

Remember how people thought Scoot McNairy would end up being Jimmy Olsen, Nightwing or even the Flash? Instead he was just a random security dude from Battle of Metropolis.

Most likely scenario:

Jena is just some scientist in the crime lab to discover the nature of the bullet. That's it. This is similar to the Scoot McNairy thing...

Yup. Snyder loves to waste good actors in pointless little roles.

I full expect Willem Defoe to play the janitor of the Hall of Justice.

Blowing it out of proportion a bit. Jena in a small and throwaway role is disappointing (if it is indeed that), but I've no reason to expect that to carry over to veteran actors like Willem.

Even Jeremy Irons thinks the film was overstuffed and muddled!

It's pathetic how so much of the cut footage was Superman's parts when you consider the pointless and crappy nightmare sequence and batmobile chase.

Shows you just how little respect and concern they have for Superman, which has always been obvious anyway. They cut so much we practically had a cardboard cut out expressionless mute
