You know from a box office standpoint im actually kinda glad that deadpool is the next cbm film after F4 because what F4 did might have hurt what the audience perception is of good cbm films, especially during the superhero renaissance, a film like deadpool really needs to restore the faith in the cbm genre before BvS comes along

I don't think it would have had an effect, tbh.

Example, Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance came out merely 3 months before Avengers, and the latter broke records, despite the awful taste left by the former. If BvS is a crowd pleaser, the negativity associated with FF would have had no bearing. But yeah, it helps that Deadpool comes out before to help inject some needed good will to audience after the disaster that was FF.

I think it's going to break the opening weekend record next year but if Devin Faraci is to be believed then the film is going to be ok and not great, but right now with a great release date and massive potential things are looking good.

Don't believe him.

Faraci may have some good contacts in the know, but he comes off as a sarcastic know-it-all ass (like Umberto Gonzalez aka El Mayimbe). A lot of his Bad Ass Digest and BMD articles have clickbait titles.

What really turned me off Faraci was an article he wrote in mid-June about a 'needlessly cruel death' in JW... when that sort of thing is tradition for that franchise.

Take his comments with a pinch of salt.

If they got a Superman reboot to a 100M+ opening a 200M+ opening for BvS is doable

Friday: $80m+

Saturday: $60m+

Sunday: $60m+

Total: $200m+

not to mention that Warner bros are still leading at number one in terms of Friday domestic openers with harry potter and the deathly hallows part two clocking in at a massive $91m+, and if a film like JW (an ok movie thats on 71% rt) can do bigger numbers then these then im optimistic

True, as long it takes the march domestic record which is currently the first hunger games at $152m since MoS opening June record when it beat toy story 3 was OBLITERATED thanks to Jurassic world

Well i disagree with you there, BvS appeals to practically every age group that goes to the cinema from kids that want to dress up as superman and batman to old people who remember reading a comic book for the first time or watching the old George reeves superman or the Adam west batman to even my generations batman: tas and the JLU.

Because at the end of the day everyone loves batman and superman!

I think this movie has a shot at taking the opening day and single day record as the first movie to gross $100 million of course with an asterisk because it will include whatever is earned from Thursday showings (6:00 PM-Midnight.)

Friday: $100m
Saturday: $75m
Sunday: $60m

OW total: $235 million. Yep. Two greatest icons of all time plus the most popular female superhero, this thing is gonna soar.

Then on the other side of the coin, the general public may suffer from comic book fatigue and the film ends up with Iron Man 3 like numbers.

The thing about those numbers is it's almost never predicted correctly. Just even 3 months ago, who would even think that bolded part would become a "phrase"?

We'd be lucky to have similar performance, and rare as it may be, I wouldn't count out the likes of this film (and Star Wars while we're on the subject) to potentially reach such heights.

i mean china was the main reason that AOU, F7, and JW all rose past a billion

BvS needs to absolutely dominate the Chinese market during release

Although i have no idea how to check the upcoming releases for china

Its hard to say, release a trailer showing the likes of doomsday or darkseid, and the big three together
( along with AM ) against him, and a billion is probably in the bag.
Of course, the film will have to actually be good first to reach it tho.

If Doomsday or Darkseid were in the movie, don't you think it would have leaked by now? I mean, unless Snyder is trying to pull a Nolan here, I think the villain is just going to be a Bazarro/evil Superman clone.

That hasn't leaked either. I have no idea who, or even if, a second villain is in BvS, but Doomsday rumors outnumber the other villain rumors.
