Civil War Jeremy Renner confirmed for Civil War

I suspect in AoU Clint will turn out to be happily married (to a character played by this actress if rumors are to be believed) along with children.

Yep, there are toys and drawings obviously done by a kid/kids in the background of the shots at Hawkeyes farm. Unless he hasn't returned to the farm for years, it is likely he has a family.

I am doubtful-I don't think he would bring the Avengers to his home if he had kids (unless they were all adults and living elsewhere). Possibly his childhood home?

People keep suggesting this and I don't think they get how important branding is. "Civil War" or "Marvel's Civil War" is not gonna have the same instant brand recognition "Captain America: Civil War" does.

And that's not even getting into the fact that there are likely already deals going down with all sorts of license holders and merchandisers for products.

Exactly. Captain America is more of a brand name than just simply Civil War. Avengers Civil War would be probably more marketable, but it being a Captain America film predominately would falsly advertise it if you called it Avengers.

calling it just Civil War would be dumb but I think Marvel's Civil War works

I wondered why Hawkeye would bring the team anywhere near his family. I wondered if he was divorced or it was his childhood home (the place does look a bit dated?).

I'm still hoping for a reunion with Mockingbird though......

Me as well! If he is married and she's with Hunter then it doesn't look like Marvel wants this? :csad:

That wasn't too likely to begin with I don't think. They haven't really been crossing over the AOS characters into the movies so unless Hawkeye showed up in the TV show it wasn't gonna happen, I don't think.

There have been rumblings about a possible Hawkeye appearance for AoS at some point. Also I think people may be making too much out of those kids drawings. Who's to say it's his kids?

When would Mockingbird and Hawkeye ever appear together for something substantial that would give them a meaningful relationship? Unless Hawkeye got his own film or Netflix series (do it Marvel) then I don't see them even being on screen together never mind there relationship being anything other than a fanboy pleasing throw away.

Good point, but maybe a few brief appearances by Renner on AoS (like Fury in season 1) could establish something between the two, and Bobbi could make a cameo in a future movie. I think it would be a nice link between AoS and the MCU.

It seems that if a particular friendship, relationship etc. is liked by fans then Marvel does the exact opposite! Science Bros look to be doomed and I suspect a lot of Clintasha fans are going to be disappointed after watching AoU. Strangely, Bobbi and Clint getting together is more unlikely because fans want it to happen.

It has nothing to do with the fans wanting it and more to do with the logistics. Fact of the matter is, even if Jeremy Renner does agree to guest star on SHIELD, it's going to be a one time thing. They do not have the money to hire him to appear on a consistent basis or as a recurring character. Haven't you noticed that none of the actual Avengers ever actually show up despite being name checked repeatedly?

That means any significant development with Mockingbird would have to essentially happen offscreen since if you just introduce her in the movies, people who don't watch the show are going to be asking who the hell this woman is.

But they have already done it with Fury in season one, and if they can afford SLJ then Renner shouldn't be a problem. Fury made a series of small but important appearances and something similar with an appropriate story could establish at least a link between the two characters. Plus Renner got one of his first acting gigs with Whedon so he may be happy to appear.

New characters get introduced all the time so this shouldn't be a problem in the MCU. The key question is whether Marvel want this (which arguably they don't based on current knowledge).

Jackson really likes Fury and probably was more into the idea than others. And it wasn't a "series" of appearances, it was a brief cameo in the second episode and then a guest role in the first season finale. He hasn't appeared since. And Renner is an actor who generally does not do TV anymore. Jackson occasionally does TV appearances despite his film career, so it was less of a stretch.

That's not exactly enough time to develop a romance or establish a relationship with the team.

Not in this manner, they aren't. So far none of the SHIELD characters have made the leap from TV to the movies.

Sam Jackson will do anything. He's in like 10 movies a year, most of which I don't even know exist until I see them in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart. So him appearing is easier to buy than Renner, Johansson, Evans, etc, who don't do that. And Cobie Smulders is primarily a TV actress anyway, so her appearing made even more sense.

Its waaaaay easier to get SJ to do it than someone like Renner.

Renner did do an episode of Louie last year.

He also said during his set reports, there were talks of some of them appearing on the show, and he'd be up for it if was good cos he likes the character and would like to explore him more.

However he was probably just saying that.

If he did appear, I'd hope Hawkeye had a proper characterization and didn't come in and was all super serious and bland.

Definitely, the way they handle Sif's appearance recently just didn't play well at all... If they going to bring guest from the films, they should use them over a 2 episode arc. I think more actors would be willing to come aboard knowing that there will actually be some sort of development on the character over a 2 episode arc, rather than just popping in to show your face and remind audiences you in the same universe. Except if you SLJ... He will do it anyways.

Plus I just want more Jaimie Alexander as Sif :ilv: ... I don't think thats too much to ask! I think she should be added into Civil War, Black Panther, Spider-Man and Captain Marvel's film just for good measure!

I'd love for there to be a Netflix mini-series about Clint that's similar to the Fraction run. Maybe Renner would be up for it because it'd be something different.

Yeah, apparently our Clint boy fights Black Panther one on one.
Since it's probably a fight to show how strong Black Panther is, I'm assuming Hawkeye loses

Yea I heard about that on Instagram. It is just a rumor, but still news is news even when it is BS.

Weirdly, I also heard something else on IG...
Apparently Steve has a fight with BP too. And I could've sworn that I read something about the Winter Soldier in there, but don't remember the exact details.

Just like with Spiderman, leave his origin story to his own movie! Introduce him here, but that is all that should go down

It's probably a way to recycle their idea for the Hawkeye vs. Captain America fight that got cut from the first movie.

One thing that will probably have a big influence on Hawkeye's role would be:

His family. His desire to protect them by keeping them secret, will likely push him towards Cap's side.

It doesn't sound like Renner is down there yet, based on his Tweet from either today or yesterday. I'm sure he'll have to show up soon since we've just about every other hero who was listed.

So, pretty much all of the big hitters have been seen now, except for Robert Downy Jr.
