we all should be glad that we're not getting that comical criminal genius as a Lex Luthor that we saw in the previous interpretations of the character.

I am glad. So done with that Lex.

Yes.

You're not happy with the casting?
Nope.

So Wayne may represent the old rich and Luthor the new? :hmm
This is the most interesting thing ive heard all day regarding this news.

Calling it gross before we've seen anything involving Eisenberg. I'm sure that's logical.
It's because i dont like the actor.

But if Jesse had a role in TDKR, you'd worship him. :hehe:
Not at all, id be super annoyed with Nolan because i just don't like Jesse Eisenberg. I find him irritating and plays every character the same way.

Thank god... one username popped up as a "Negative Nancy". So at least now I know 30 people in the thread is actually going back & forth with at least 1 person IN HERE that fits that crybaby whiner that needs to shut up/wait & see, accept Eisenberg as Luthor, & learn from the lesson taught by thy great Heath Ledger. I'm definitely :bdh: but even that one person isn't really like THAT. Just like a person isn't necessarily a scrotum-worshiping Nolanite for liking TDK trilogy; just because you don't care for this particular casting choice, doesn't mean you're a whiny crybaby that thinks the studio should cave to your every whim (who on here is even acting remotely like that at all? Is there actually even ONE user like that on here?) Like the Shadows Fall album, its a War Within or better yet, like ATR's album, A War You Cannot Win.
What the heck are you even saying?

Agreed, in retrospect, Lex's characterization has been the weakest link in the previous movies. Open for a new Lex Luthor now.

So anyway I love that we are getting a younger Lex. Sometimes it's like Snyder is reading my mind....sometimes.

I can really see Eisenberg Lex being really into technology and science, having his hands involved in various projects.

That's ... interesting.

I had pretty much convinced myself that all of the Joaquin Phoenix rumours were true and that it was inevitable that he would be cast as Lex Luthor. So, Jesse Eisenberg is a little disappointing in comparison to Joaquin Phoenix.

But, I'm glad that the casting indicates that we're not getting another older, real estate obsessed, evil tycoon version of Lex Luthor. And while Jesse Eisenberg has certainly never struck me as having a "threatening" personality, I'm hopeful that, with the right script, costuming, "hair" and make-up, etc, the new Lex Luthor will be a great nemesis for Superman (and the other members of the inevitable Justice League).

Einsenberg does have that evil stare down pat. It's downright creepy.

Well, that was unexpected....... and freaking awesome.

Eisenberg is a very good actor with a phenomenal 'range', and, because of his age, should bring something to the role that we haven't seen before.

Yep. If Rosenbaum can knock it out of the park as a younger, contemporary Lex.....than Eisenberg can do the same without a doubt IMO.

I've never been specific on Lex's age, but I think having a billionaire that is this young could be interesting on screen. It's kind of an interesting parallel to superman.

Lex has achieved a billion-dollar empire by the time he's in his thirties.

Superman has saved the world by the time he's in his thirties.

Both young men in the prime of their lives. If superman didn't exist, Lex would be the pinnacle of success thus far.

Superman is going to get trolled.

He just looks like a guy who could snap at any moment and stab you in the neck with a pen, at least in that picture.

right..........and I can see this Lex being the "wonderkid" of Metropolis. his face everywhere. on the cover of the mags. on the billboards. on tv.

he's the darling of the city, with his vision for a "City of Tomorrow."

the spotlight's all on him.

then some aliens show up and wreck the place...........

and steal his spotlight.

I hope he's only in this movie so we don't see him in Justice League, then he returns for a final Superman movie several years from now.

Im gonna get bashed super hard for hating this casting choice. I just think it's such a letdown from Joaquin Phoenix.

I do get it now. He'll be the same age as Cavill. There's a certain appeal to that since Bruce is so much older. I guess they dont want Supes to be the only young dude in this franchise. But then again they were after Phoenix, so did they just go younger because Zack couldnt hire any of the older big names?

He just comes off really nerdy to me. It's very odd for a choice. I was hoping for a more diverse actor who is a few years younger than Affleck or around the same age. Dicaprio, Phoenix.

I want to see Lex use the media to turn public opinion against Superman. Maybe he personally funds the rebuilding of Metropolis while publically blaming Superman for Zod's rampage. That could be interesting and a different version of Luthor than we've seen in the movie before.

That's actually a good shot of him.

If he surprises me then ill say i was wrong.

that should absolutely be a part of it.

I like Joaquin Phoenix, but Eisenberg has far more 'range', which opens many more doors as far as Lex's characterization is concerned.

With regards to Lex's business, we know that he'll be in oil (oil tanker Zod throws at Supes who floats over it (shot at Supes II)) and that his company does construction...

Doesn't sound like a software company or even a tech company. Not saying he won't also have tech... He also has established highrise buildings.

Unsure how "new money" Lex will be.

I was thinking a youthful 35-45 so JE is actually 5 years younger than my age range but the point is I just wanted a youthful Luthor for once. Not because I'm youth obsessed and hate seeing old people on screen, I just thought it would be different to go in a different but still good direction for once.

I'll need to see a clip to really make a judgement but this casting choice to me just comes across as ODD.

I hope they see something wonderful in him he just hasn't done on screen yet.
