BvS Jesse Eisenberg IS Lex Luthor - Part 10

It's not a "come to mama" or "come here" gesture. It's him using his hands to guide the people pushing the gurney. It's like traffic control. Or when you help someone back their car out of or into a space. It's a "keep going" gesture and makes perfect sense.

Ooooooooooooooooh no it's not. Come on now...

Teaser:

"We Know better now don't we? Devils don't come from hell beneath us... They come from the sky."

Comic Con Trailer:

"You know the oldest lie in America, Senator? Devils don't come from hell beneath us... They come from the sky."

"Black and blue... God versus man... Day versus night..."

"The red capes are coming... The red capes are coming..."

Trailer 2:

"You know the oldest lie in America Senator? It's that power can be innocent."

" The greatest gladiator match in the history of the world... Son of Krypton versus Bat of Gotham."

"That's a three syllable word for any thought too big for little minds."

"If man won't kill God... The Devil will do it!"

Okay... This is a collection of Jesse's dialogue from the teaser to this last trailer not including the humorous section of Lex meeting Bruce and Clark.

I think it would be fair to say that, no... that party scene is not the full story of Lex in this film nor is it indicative of the one note his portrayal will be for the entirety of the film. Or am I being too even handed in not jumping to that conclusion given the existence of evidence to the contrary?

Thoughts? Also it is curious how there has been either some changes or expansions in dialogue from the teaser to now, and of course the tricks inherent in editing blockbuster trailers, both of which indicates we don't have a full picture on Lex. While being dialogue I can see coming from any version of Lex when actually hearing them n the trailers can you all honestly say they ALL come off as "camp" or similar to Hackman or Spacey as Lex?

Posting again because I just feel what I keep hearing is just people taking the the humorous party scene and extrapolating it to everything possible about the character when there is evidence to the contrary in EVERY trailer, given the style of the line readings and actual dialogue we have which don't sound like Dr. Kafka from TAS-M2 or like Spacey's or Hackman's Lex at all. No to mention all the crew and cast interview material that speaks to Lex having two very different sides, a FACADE for the public and a darker, sinister and more calculating side in private.

From what I can tell, there is a big difference between the Lex at (what I believe is at) the beginning of the movie in terms of demeanor and posture, vs what he will become, a la Baldy Lex. So, I figure this movie will reveal why and how this change happens, and perhaps as the movie unfolds, we will get to see the darker side of this Lex. Otherwise the campy approach may not pose a threat, just like Ultron in AOU.

The way Lex talks and acts at the party is different from when he's with the senator so he has a public side. On top of that, I think he's going to spiral down and be obsessed with Superman/metahumans.

His experiments with Zod could lead to Cadmus.

Agreed, I think his story arc in this will be very much Lex Luthor Begins. I can see in a future movie he will just be obsessed with destroying Superman which is how I like my Lex.

Let's analyze every split second of the trailer and decide if it's cheesy or not.

What type we talking? Hard cheddar? Swiss? Muenster? Jarlsborg?

If you guys want to know how cold and calculating Jesse Eisenberg can be then watch the social network, i believe in him.

It's safer to assume it's all cheesy. Even the shots used in previous trailers that were deemed "dark", that's cheesy now. It's darkcheesy.

It reminded me kind of "Lex Luthor: You're not seeing the big picture here, Miss Lane. Let me enlarge it for you. [brings down another map] Not just an island. An entirely new continent. An extinct world, reborn, on our own." from Superman Returns. :sly:

That just sounds more or less like Zods motive/plan in MoS. Build a new Krypton.:yuk:

Even if the campy side is just a mask he shows to the public until he reveals the darker side and then is that from there on, I don't like the idea of a Lex that uses such a persona as a mask to begin with. He can't be all psychopath to the public, but he should still present himself with class and act charming

Err...if I'm not mistaken that's literally one of his most noticeable traits historically? He's a manipulative and duplicitous egomaniac, whether his veneer is classy charm or smarmy congeniality it doesn't really matter. Lex keeps people focusing on his left hand while his right hand readies the knife, he's had different variations of that kind of personality since his creation from what I recall.

I don't think it's out of bounds to call the hand gestures cheesy. It might play differently in the movie, sure, but within the context of the trailer, it came off (to me) as cheesy.
