Absolutely. Just like in the trailer, as the quote goes "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts.." and Lex has it in different, narcissistic ways. Obsession is another thing and that's what flew Lex over the kookoo's nest..his obsession with Superman. Power and obsession is Lex's downfall but at the same time, comics most well rounded villain.

Yes - Phoenix was approached and declined, according to THR I believe. I don't think they rewrote for Eisenberg - Phoenix isn't that much older and has the same detached nerdy vibe.

I like the angle they're taking, but given that, I still feel like Eisenberg just doesn't have the charisma. As an Eisenberg-style Luthor, I would have gone with:
Phoenix (damn his arthouse pretensions!)
Ben Foster
Liev Schreiber
Zachary Quinto
Adam Driver (the second choice. Turned it down because of Star Wars, most likely)

First of all, is that a Batman TV series song as your username?

Second, I'm not sure that Driver was approached for the role of Lex Luthor, most recent quote of Snyder seem to indicate that they decided to go for younger version after approaching Eisenberg for different role, so there's no reason to go for Driver after deciding for younger Luthor, as they already had their eyes set on Eisenberg. I don't think they rewrote much as well, though.

Yeah, I remember this. I'm just not entirely convinced that Driver was considered for the role of Lex Luthor. They often get roles mixed up.

I don't think that Driver was ever approached for any role in BvS --that I could recall. What I remember is his debunking the Nightwing rumour (interview from Huffington Post:

The original script included the traditional Lex Luthor, i.e., older, business suit type. It was only after Eisenberg met with Snyder & co., for a different role that they decided to change the script and cast Eisenberg as a different interpretation of Lex. I suspect that the traditional Lex came from Goyer's draft while Eisenberg's Lex came out of the revised Terrio script.

I personally believe THR over an actor involved. Driver probably signed an NDA with the studio, which means he can't reveal anything about the process.

As for the script changing to suit Eisenberg, I HIGHLY doubt that. Even when it was Goyer's draft, the rumors were Luthor was younger - a reformed gang banger, was the original rumored concept, though that could easily be fake. There was talk of full-sleeve tats. As if we don't have enough tattoos in the DCEU.

Even Phoenix, the widely acknowledged first choice (I think he semi-confirmed it in an interview) is not as old as past Luthors. Younger tech genius was definitely the concept. It's certainly Eisenberg's trademark, so makes sense they went with him.

Why would they lie about changing the script after Eisenberg got in? Such info is as official as it gets.

I haven't read what you're talking about, so I don't really know. The "changing the script" thing sounds like conjecture. The only rewrites I know about are Terrio's which started long before Eisenberg was cast (and continued through production, but that's normal for a movie).
