Still getting the Hackman and Spacey vibes.

I feel like Snyder saw Moriarty in the BBC Sherlock and felt that was the way to go with their Lex.

I liked that Moriarty, so far nothing I've seen from Lex gives me thought that i'll like this take of him.

I love this Lex. We're getting a young, intelligent, zany Luthor that doesn't have a real estate fetish. It only took almost 40 years.

Yea, I never got too hyped over Jesse's excitement over the script for this movie. It's not exactly like half his movies haven't been average to awful.

Hackman and Spacey vibes?

Noooo.

There's a manic energy to this Luthor that we have not seen in live action.

I think it's definitely public Luthor, but he's obviously a little bit "crazy-smart", which I love. There's a dash of mad scientist here along with the corporate fellow.

It looks like people's worst fear of the fast talking, eccentric, wise cracking Luthor people were skeptical of. His bald menacing look does give hope though.

Jesse's Lex reminds me of early Smallville!Lex, at least in terms of the sarcastic attitude.

I did also get a Spacey vibe in some places as well, especially in the scene where he's talking about the devil killing god.

I thought he was awful in the new trailer. Way too hammy and cartoonish.

I championed Jesse through the sheer boldness of the casting. And that first reveal of (bald) Lex had me thinking it was going to be a transformation.

If this trailer is any indication of the rest of his performance, I'm officially off that support train. Looks like Rosenbaum is still going to be the reigning defender. :o

He was a bit too hammy for my liking as well.

I was actually on board with the eccentric Lex (or an Lexcentric. Get it? Get It?), but it was too much of that side of him in this trailer. He does seem to be crazy as **** though. I'm not writting him off yet, I just hope he does have a more serious side to him.

I can see why other people didn't like Lex. But I myself liked him. Reminds me a bit of...nvm.

I'm 99% sure that the Lex we saw interacting with Clark and Bruce at the beginning of the trailer was a facade. The voice we hear in the first trailer saying "We know better now don't we? Devils don't come from Hell beneath us. They come from the sky" sounds completely unwavering and not at all manic, as he appears here.

But as a facade, I thought it was pretty funny.

I'm holding out hope for the script, since Jesse never fails to get excited talking about it. The trailer has showed me no indication of the brilliance he was hinting at, but I concede this is edited for a particular audience in which such showcases wouldn't be appropriate.

I loved Lex in the trailer openly mocking Clark and Bruce. I still believe we've mostly seen his facade. We've only seen him talking to Lois (a reporter), his staff, Bruce and Clark at a party, and the Senator. He's putting on a show and reveling in the fact that he's pulled one over all these people. Once he looses he'll turn into the real Lex.

I wouldn't mind that. I thought his actual moments on screen he came off like a cheeseball but hopefully it works in the film. The voiceover was cool though.

Could be. He was a bit hammy with Lois as well though. Though in a bit psychotic way.

Yup. TheShape put it nicely - this trailer is clearly made more "for the masses". Your regular moviegoers.

I wonder if Lex is "drunk" at that gala.

Watching the trailer...Eisenberg is varying his deliveries.

His timing is excellent, if nothing else. I think he's giving a more balanced performance that people think. There's a nice "ego" undercurrent to the "mania", especially with Lois.

I kind of love it.

Bad cheesy acting from Luthor in new trailer. He make me cringe every scene in it.

As always, I like some things I see and am unsure about other things, but I can't wait to see his full performance. I have a feeling everything will fall into place.

Yes! Another fricking "mad scientist" type Luthor with hair. He looked completely out of place between Clark and Bruce. It's the 3 most important characters and specially the duo of Bruce and Lex. I always knew them as two strong, tall and imposing personalities. Here he looks like a groupie who just met celebrities.

Edit: oh and i have been and am calling Luthor going bald at the end as he is imprissoned.

Will that change after he is bald? Was it just a facade to trick people watching the trailer????????? hmm
