Brother-man doesn't like Jessie. We aint changing his mind.

I actually think that Jessie can give us either a brilliant scenery chewing Lex or a really cold an calculating heartless bastard Lex.

Whatever of these two or a combination would be really good.

Not true. The way an actor delivers a line can make or break it. Sometimes even the most average line can be elevated by an excellent performance. The reason that scene in TSN doesn't work for me is because of Eisernberg's performance. On paper it looks great but I don't think Eisenberg does that speech justice.
A lot of people felt he did do the dialogue justice but you are totally entitled to your opinion of course. I'm not going to try and change your mind.

and sometimes an actor can deliver an awesome line and make it seem crappy...so it comes down to the actor's performance.

Exactly. Just imagine Taylor Kitsch trying to deliver that speech from The Social Network. The movie would have been direct-to-DVD.

He start's filming this week doesn't he? Hope we get set pics.

J.E. Is the weakest link in this for me. I really hope he hits a home run with Lex and proves my gut wrong.

Eh more worried about Gal Gadot than Eisenberg. At least he's a proper actor.

I really want Jesse to be good. The character needs it. There's so much potential there.

My hope is that we'll be seeing spy photos of a bald Eisenberg by the end of the week.

Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor is so left field it could be genius if done right.

Only thing I saw Jesse Eisenberg in is the Social Network
He's one of the few people I see playing a role before moving to a comic book movie/show role
If he can be a more appealing Lex Luthor to me than John Shea, or the other two who played the role in movies before him, I will be surprised

I've seen him in a lot of things. The other "brilliant but extremely arrogant p***k" role that he did was in Now You See Me. I really liked him in that movie, actually I liked all of the performances in that movie.

Jesse Eisenberg is plainly Jesse Eisenberg in everything I've seen him in. Does he lose himself in a character that you forget it's him? Not that I know of.

Will he do it as Lex as though? Based on the past? I'm guessing, no.

It'll be just Jesse Eisnberg calling himself Lex Luthor whilst acting a little like Lex Luthor and a lot like Jesse Eisnberg :o

I've seen Cavill in about everything he has been in, never was blown away but seemed like a promising actor. He is great as Superman however, and hopefully we get a great Lex.

Has he ever been required to?

Does he really need to? Do you need to completely forget that you're watching an actor named 'Jesse Eisenberg' to enjoy his performance as Lex Luthor? Is the role of Lex Luthor somehow similar to the role of the Joker which requires a physical/mental transformation that is the furthest thing from the way a "normal" person would act? Does he really have to "lose himself" in order to portray Lex Luthor successfully?

If you say so!

Eisenberg is an Oscar nominated actor.

The thing about the Oscars is that it's not an award for your work overall it's an award for how you performed in that particular year. You don't only have to be good to win but you have to be better than everybody else that year. Cavill, despite a solid body of work, hasn't been lucky enough to be in that position. He's a great actor; his role in the Tudors proved that.

Plus Oscars is all politics anyway.

You don't have to be a chameleon actor to be a good actor.

As much as I like Cavill, I see little indication that he has more range than Jesse.

No matter how much either guys have or have not done on screen I think BOTH are so very early into their careers that definitive statements about how much range they have is putting the cart before the horse in many ways.
