Indeed. Being prepared for both possibilities is usually the best thing to do.

I haven't seen AOU, by the way. I don't think I will. I am quite interested in "X-Men" though.
Apocalypse is one of my favorite villains and Oscar Isaac is a gem so yeah I'm there.

I used to read a lot of X-Men comics in my younger days and I always saw Apocalypse as their ultimate villain (with Mister Sinister being the second) and, yeah, Oscar Isaac is a great choice for the role. I also liked Psylocke on rare occasions when she's written well, so I'm happy to finally see her being included in this universe.

Some old, incredibly awkward interview Jesse had with a reporter is making the rounds again. I guess for to reinforce the jerk thing from his interview from comic con. That thing is almost too painfult to watch. Eisenberg is obviously feeling incredibly awkward and what I think are attempts to be witty and charming are totally falling flat and are coming off pretty rude, especially if you arent accustomed to his dry wit. The poor girl looked like she was about to burst into tears by the end. I felt bad for both of them after watching it.
Yeah he calls interviewers pariahs and compares comic-con to genocide as well. [YT]KqOeRLfG5MM[/YT]
It doesn't come across as dry humour to me, just him being an a-hole. He does realise that the interviews help to promote his movies and fans pay the money to see his films right?! And he just seems to play himself in every movie.

Maybe he just sucks at jokes. Some people do. Someone at my work made a massive joke fail just yesterday. Everyone around talked about how ****ing awkward it was when the offending co-worker left, lol.

At any rate, I don't care if he's awkward in interviews. Just give a good performance.

Well if you like Jesse's performances playing Jesse in Zombieland, Social Network, Now You See Me and whatever else, then you'll love Jesse in BvS. It's all the same facial expressions, tones, all the same. It's so nice to be paid to play yourself like RDJ.

I assume he played the same character in "The Double", where he played two diametrically opposed characters, as well. :funny:

I don't get why everyone's making such a big deal of it. It was pretty funny

I haven't seen that one. Also you call this making a big deal? I was just sharing his supposedly dry a.hole-ish humour, he should really do stand-up. :woot:

It's because some people are really disappointed that the trailer is excellent, and they are desperate for something to hate.

They will be further disappointed to learn that nobody cares.

I don't get the complaints that Jesse acts "the same" here as he did in Zombieland and other films. First off, he didn't act the same in say, Zombieland, Now You See Me and The Social Network. And his performance here doesn't make me think of any of those films, beyond "Hey, that's the same actor." Like someone else said, he's giving off more of a John du Pont vibe here.

Unless the role requires an accent change it's not gonna be that much of a chameleon thing. Look at Gyllenhaal and his role in Nightcrawler and Southpaw. You know it's the same dude but they are two drastically different looking and sounding guys.

Yea but from the trailers I get the impression this Lex isnt that much different then Kevins spaceys Lex or hackmans Lex only younger and alot richer. He also kind of reminds me of Ezekial Stane from the Iron Man Comics. None of thats a bad thing, just i understand why he was cast.

Ever since Heath Ledger posthumously won his well deserved Oscar, there's been this utterly stupid belief that unless you're a character actor, you're not really much of an actor at all. Unless you're adept at method and becoming completely physically and vocally unrecognisable for every single role you undertake, you're really just playing yourself again. It's the kind of stupid criticism that was first immediately thrust upon Jack Nicholson (if memory serves) once Ledger's performance had first been glimpsed in teaser trailers and whatnot. God knows what these sorta imbeciles would make of the likes of Humphrey Bogart or Jimmy Stewart. And I believe I was the one who made the du Pont comparison, though someone else may have also done so.

you mean Method actor?

^Basically we want everyone to be method when they portray a character more or less.

I hope Hans Zimmer cooks up a badass leitmotif for Lex Luthor like he did for General Zod in Man of Steel.

I've got to hand it to Chris B: he was pretty spot-on w/ his earlier description of Luthor, going all the way back to June 2014.

"It’s not Eisenberg’s typical curly look — it’s a bit longer, kind of loose and wavy, and it’s dirty blonde. Eisenberg’s Luthor has spastic mannerisms, like a 20-something guy that pounds energy drinks all day."

See, while he got the look right, I didn't get "spastic energy drink guy" from the trailer at all.

Zod and Lex are vastly different villains, dont think he really needs one. Zod was alien with immense power, kinda easy for him.

Yup. The DCEU has an RDJ. It's not a black mark against the MCU with critics and fans so... yeah.

This.

Also, "method" is almost the opposite of what people tend to think it is. Method isn't "becoming someone else"; it's putting yourself into the circumstances (or as close as possible). It begins with working from the inside out. Only then do you begin to take on physical characteristics such as mannerisms, voice, etc. You have to approach it from a deeply personal place otherwise it just becomes superficial. Phillip Seymour Hoffman has some great quotes on this subject in reference to Capote.

Well he has Lexcorp so depending on the background of this particular Lex he either inherited the company or he started it. I am assuming hes fairly intelligent and built this corporation on his own from the way Zack has described his view on a modern lex.

The previous Lex Luthors always stole their wealth which i never liked.

Also if you look hard enough you can find "jerk-like" interviews from prettty much every actor. I've seen Jesse act really well in certain interviews. Conan O'brien referred to him as one of the nicest people in hollywood. I just think he has a weird sense of humor.

If you think about it a bit more carefully, and remember that most celebs try and get as far up the public's ass as they can for a paycheck, then his comments have a lot of merit.

The pariah comment wasn't meant as an insult, he was making an observation about how the press is treated based on his experience of playing the role in question and spending time with a journalist.

We know from MOS that this Lex has a corporation with diverse holdings that include energy and transportation at least, owning trains, bus lines and oil/gas companies.
