BvS Jesse Eisenberg IS Lex Luthor - Part 9

This article makes me want Lex to not be a known bad guy at the end of this movie even more now.

Put me in that last group for sure. I think that Lex does need to have some snarky humor along with his ruthlessness. I think Jesse is a good choice for that.

He really is. I think his humor will be pretentious, holier-than-thou, dark humor. I saw it all in that "Red Capes" line from the trailer. That's what got me fully on board with this Lex and we haven't even seen the beginnings of him yet. :woot:

Same here. Actually, it would be neat if he would not only remain untouchable with good public image, but would also candidate for the president in the end of the film, leading into the JL.

I still feel Lex being free, even with a dinged public image is a double edged sword. On the one hand, sure, it builds up Lex as a formidable threat. He went up against the Trinity and he still wasn't put behind bars.

On the other hand... Superman, Batman AND Wonder Woman went up against one man and in the end couldn't bring him in? It could make the heroes look ineffective in the audience's eyes.

People are morons. The sooner you accept that the better off you will be. There is nothing confusing about that article but people are morons so they are confused.

No, statistically speaking people are of average intelligence.

I think we need more than just rumours here. We need some bald facts.

“It’s a necessity,” Luthor insists. “We live in the most dangerous point of time in all of human history. Statistically speaking, it’s a near certainty that another world-changing crisis is hurtling toward us like a speeding bullet. We have to be ready to defend ourselves. No civilization was ever conquered by having a strong military.”

I see what you did there, Lex. :cwink:

One other thing I noticed that I think is really cool:

Alexander Luthor Sr., the East German immigrant, almost certainly had his son in America, since Lexcorp existed ten years before Lex arrived in the 80's. That means, that just like Clark, Lex is yet another take on the fully assimilated American son of a powerful and intelligent man from "another world," though in this case the second world in the classical sense of Communism.

I think that there could be a nice bit of commentary and subtext which could be intuited with the idea of Lex's extreme Libertarian view (and the politically poisonous paranoia and rank skepticism that often accompanies such views) that seems to be a motivating factor in his villainy but more importantly the world view he's convinced himself that he has. They are using some real world examples to underpin Lex's rationale.

I like that they explained why Lex's company is a Tech Giant but in Man of Steel it was a much different company. Explains why LexCorp has it's hands in so many cupboards.

Would love to see a President Luthor Storyline.

This doesn't even sound like political discussion or commentary. It just sounds like political agenda. "Lex is a libertarian and that's a motivating factor in his villainy".

Also, how exactly is Lex Luthor a libertarian? :o

He's 31 so he can't really run for President.

Yeah, that plotline would have to wait a few years to be viable.

Really, it only wouldn't be viable in BvS. Any Superman sequel could easily, and most likely will, be set several years later. So, theoretically, the very next Lex centric (from the villain side of the story) movie could feature a Les for Pres plot or sub-plot, or at the very least introduce it or its seeds.

Actually, setting it up for a full on President Luthor in a 3rd Superman film would be pretty sweet I think. A nice "trilogy" arc, building to the finally showing just why Lex truly is Superman's ultimate foe. Either that, or maybe make an actual 'DC Trilogy' film where Superman must confide in only Bruce and Diana, and keep it off the books from the rest of the League.
I mean, they ARE trying to take down the president.

It would be a useful way to write the League out of it. After a BvS and 2 JLA films, it can be hard to justify why you're "only" having 3 of them as the focus.
Considering this is done all the time in the books, for team ups, and solo adventures, it always seemed an odd concern to have for the films; why wouldn't Tony call on Steve in Iron Man 3 kind of thinking. It's not a hard thing to justify story wise, I think, but I guess you've gotta convince the studio big wigs of that.

Any who, enough tangents.

Lex Luthor has managed to attract 8000+ twitter followers in less than 24 hours.

You have to be 35. So just in time for JL 3 or MoS 2.

Lex should get elected president, and have 40 cakes served at the inaugural ball.

I think we all are. :D

Also. If Lex loses his hair due to kryptonite exposure (as we're all expecting) I'd love it if, at the end of the film, presuming that his public persona is still intact, he gives an interview and says something like, "Yes, it sucks to lose your hair. And unfortunately, not even the geniuses at LexCorp have devised a true cure for baldness. But it happens. That's why I decided to just shave it down instead of grow some ridiculous combover like some other overexposed billionaires."

a theory I have is whatever the 'product' is..it's powered by kryptonite and in destroying the 'product' Lex is bathed in unhealthy amounts of K-radiation and that's what makes him lose his hair.
