I agree, it has gone too far. I understand that people have a different perception of beauty, but that's just ridiculous.

Yes, indeed. Hell, I know all too well about the whole beauty/eye of the beholder thang. Been there, argued that, got a truck load of T-shirts to prove it. But Gale's a model - and from what I understand, a fairly successful one at that. I realize some people might not find her appealing, but I don't get the "manface" and "transvestite" analogies.

Yeah. I just haven't been interested in following it in preprod. I'll definitely see the film - because I love me my Christian Bale - but I'm totally content to just wait for the pic to unspool and see it w/o any preconceived notions that weren't already set-up from the first film. That said, Heath Ledger isn't a draw for me. I won't be seeing it because HE's in the flick.

I guess The Heather is The Hoboker now.

There's nothing wrong with Gale's look, IMO. I think she's very beautiful, attractive, and has the right look for Diana. It's her credentials and qualifications as an actress that I question, but this wouldn't be the first time I've given an unknown a chance, so if she's the one... here's hoping it all works out.

It would be nice to at least have one or two well known/respected actors in this cast to give the project some much needed credibility. X-Men might have had a lot of fresh faces, but they also had two classically trained Shakespearean actors, with Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart to anchor the film and give it the credibility it needed. Stewart was also already well known from Star Trek, and having an actor the caliber of McKellen doing a superhero film was a big deal at the time.
