JL Casting Call Update

The pic of Cotrona looks good, but seriously guys, have you seen the videos of him? Even Superboy looks more muscular. On film he looks nothing like Superman, even Dean Cain was more "manly".
Four words: Muscle suits by WETA

Like i said, you've got to wait how he looks in the movie. Not sure how long ago they've shot those scenes, but i don't think he looks skinny or boyish there, at least not more than the other Superman actors. And he's a little older now, surley trains to gain more muscle mass and will be made up to look like Superman, just like the other Superman actors...

I think DJ CAN look like Superman, and if need be they WILL make him look like Superman.

I have to agree and especially after watching this clip. How could they think he's Superman. He looks short and no amount of pading can make him look supermanly.... just my opinion.....

for s second there, I thought, that was the Daily Planet building, at the beginning, lol

I don't think he look that bad there, I mean, obviously he was acting superman, or even Clark like in that clip, as he wasn't playing Superman/Clark
and he looked to be in at least decent shape, then
maybe, if that clip actually had the voices, I could get a better idea of his acting from it

I suppose, these scream superman to you lol

At least he looks down on the girl and not up.....

And when it comes to muscle-suit. Look at the guy playing in Desperate Housewives (one of the husbands). He has a lot more body/muscle then Cotrona, but the same height. He is also old and looks more "manly" due to that.

But still, when he stood next to Armie Hammer he looked like a midget. (the clip can be found on youtube).

Cotrona looks good damn awfull as Superman. I will remain a great skeptic if he stays onboard. There are good enough actors out there that fits the part much much better. In a 200 million dollar movie one needs not **** it up with a boyband-Superman who will need both filmtricks so WW and Batman does'nt tower over him, and a musclesuit a la the Batman-movies (before BB).

It's plain stupid and I think most people sees that. It makes no sence at all :)

This guy is way too short. He would be shorter then Wonder Woman. I do not get why they want to even cast him. It makes litttle sense to me but then again I am not a movie professional....

Maybe Superman is meant to be the wimp ion these movies

I agree and to me, even in that clip of Routh ,I can look at him and see him as Superman. Actually , he kinda reminded me of TW in those clips . I thought Routh did a good job in SR with what little he was given and if they cast him for JL it would be a postive sign for me.

I agree and to me, even in that clip of Routh ,I can look at him and see him as Superman.
But the fact that you've already seen him play Superman of course has nothing to do with that... :whatever:

Brandon Routh was an ok Superman. Not fantastic, but theres only one who fits that description. May he rest in peace.

YEa he was an ok superman/clark kent but his acting was a bit wooden and he was pretty much trying to be Chris reeve playing superman instead of taking it his own way and all that. He did look the part maybe if he and singer do return(i hope not) he has a better suit and has a better defined muscles and please no muscle suit enhancements.

I saw him before he cast as Superman and when he was cast I thought he was a good choice and I could see him as Superman .

Not this guy though. Sorry.

i get what you're sayin and am as doubtful as the next guy, but I really think if he's gonna play Superman they'll get him to look like Superman, the right height and everything. Not that F4 was the greatest movie, but Michael Chicklis is 5' 8', 2 inches shorter than Cotrona and they made him look like he was the tallest as the Thing, taller than Cris Evans and Julian Macmahon, who are both 6' 2'.

So in this day and age, anything's possible.

His height, while a bit concerning to me, is not the biggest issue I have with Cotrona.
He doesnt have the look, at least for me he doesnt. If he did, I could certainly overlook his height.

Here's a pic of Hammer looking sharp on the set of the film this week.

Actors, crew approach Graham movie reverently

By BEVERLY KEEL

As warm sunlight sneaks around the window blinds and brings a sparkle to the dust floating in the air, a fresh-faced, wide-eyed Billy Graham sits alone at the end of a long conference table in a Nashville prison.

At the other end, and in many ways miles and years away, the towering religious figure Bob Jones bellows, "God gave me this position, not your mama, and I'm doing his work." After a few more emotional words are exchanged, the conversation is over.

"Cut," says ponytailed director Robby Benson, bringing an end to a scene shot Wednesday for the Billy Graham biopic that's being filmed in Nashville, Lebanon and Watertown.

The glistening dust was enhanced by a haze machine; the spectacular lighting is no accident. No detail is too small to be overlooked by the crew driven to maintain authenticity in the telling of the story.

Indeed, the older Graham is played by Nashville's Bill Graham, the famed preacher's first cousin and a preacher himself.

Actor captures nuances

Graham fans should be pleased with the casting of Armie Hammer, the great-grandson of industrialist/philanthropist Armand Hammer, as a young Graham. He bears a strong resemblance to the preacher—a stylist spent about two hours shaping Hammer's hair to resemble Graham's wavy locks—and he's committed to capturing Graham's accent, movements and motivation.

"They've never made a movie about this guy, and beyond any sort of spiritual reasons or anything like that, he is really an iconic figure of the 20th century," Hammer said.

"He's gone places and done things that no one else has been able to do, and he can do it all with such grace. From an acting standpoint, that is such a difficult role to try to emulate.

"I've been going to church and reading my Bible and doing a lot of other spiritual work to get in that right headspace to even start to play someone like Billy Graham."

Hammer spent hours studying videos of Graham's sermons.

"One of the main things about Billy Graham is his gestures, his movements, the way he used his body just as much as his voice when he spoke."

Turner jumped at role

On Wednesday, country singer Josh Turner filmed his role as singer George Beverly Shea.

"He was a force to be reckoned with in gospel music, and still is," Turner said. "When they said they wanted me to do this part, and I found out it was only one or two lines, I said, 'Hey, I'll do it.' "

Before his scene, Turner wasn't nervous. "I know if I screw up, we can do it again," he joked.

While the vacant West Nashville prison has provided the backdrop for movies like Robert Redford's The Last Castle andJohn Frankenheimer's Against the Wall, it seemed like an unlikely setting for Billy: The Early Years, which recounts the conversion and early struggles of the world's most famous preacher.

But the crew bypassed the prison cells for third-floor offices, where each room was converted into a different scene.

Shooting is on schedule

This is the second week of shooting, which runs through May 10. Last week, Martin Landau, who plays Graham mentor Charles Templeton, shot his scenes with Jennifer O'Neill.

"We are on schedule and everything is perfect," said producer Larry Mortorff. "We are really pleased with everything — even the weather is cooperating. On the days that it's rained, we were inside."

There's a sense on the set that this film is more than a movie, the work is bigger than the crew itself.

"It's like this is a message that he continued to get out his entire life," Hammer said. "Now that he is getting older and he can't get the message out, we're doing it for him.

"We're taking his story and his message and staying very true to that and getting it out."

He is looking nice and all but still not who i would want to see as bats if cotrona is still attached as supes.

Yea he could work and all that, and if bruce scenes make him look a little older but if he is bats with cotrona as supes i still dont want to see that.

He'd do fine. Just get Cotrona the hell out of the movie. He is even shorter then Adam Brody. He will be the shortest of all the JL-members, if the rumored cast is correct. They would need to "play" a lot with camera and angles to try to fix it. Just plain stupid.

Just think of the first off-filming picture of the whole group. Then the little man, that will be the guy playing Superman.

Wow. It's probably just me, but slap a cowl on that picture, and he looks just like the Batman: TAS to me. Maybe its the smile.

Yes he looks good and all but still not who i want for batman i wish they were going with a bit older actor and all that. But if he is to be batman once filming does start hopefully he will look good in the suit and yes i agree with you guys i could deal with hammer if they play him right and make him look older if any bruce scenes but we need cotrona out and a better looking superman and the actor should atless be 6'2-6'4 in height so they could slap an inch or two lifts in him to make that actor and hammer simular height.

LOL! That's EXACTLY what I thought when I saw him.

He reminds me of this:

Best thing I can say about Hammer right now tho, is his voice. He sounds like Jeremy Sisto's batman, IMO.
