Justice League JL Runtime Thread. Yay? Or Nay?

The sheer amount of assumptions in this pathetic twitter thread and use of the phrase "we know" is so funny https://***********/FoldableHuman/status/921116460755197952

I'm slowly warming up to the runtime. I watched GotG again last night, which is a movie i love and had the exact same runtime and I figure if it is paced the same way this can work. GoTG had a lot of world jumping just like JL will, in theory, this could work. I just want everything to breathe and feel natural, is all. A big part of the reason I'm excited for this is we're going to be hanging out in Gotham City, Atlantis, Central City, Themyscrya, I'm assuming Metropolis, the Kent Farm, maybe Apokolips....I'd like for the movie to take its time in each of these cool locales just like GoTG did on each planet we visited.

I'm okay with the short runtime. One of the bloggers who were part of the set visit last year confirmed that Snyder said that JL would be significantly shorter than BvS or MOS.

Eh, I won't lie. I'll be disappointed if it's two hours. That's just how I feel.

I normally do not panic over runtimes, but this does feel too short.

Agreed. It's probably a ploy to try and get a bigger box office and address the 'too long/confusing' comments about BvS.

It is. Warners hasn't confirmed it yet, but it was confirmed by several theater chains and AtomTickets in preparation for advance ticket sales this week.

I don't see the fuss, honestly. Snyder originally set out to make it shorter than his previous two DCEU outings, so it's not like Warners kicked him off and let Joss take the editing scissors willy-nilly to the film.

As long as there is a longer cut to look forward to on blu ray, I'll be fine with this. I refuse to believe that they shot a 110 page script.

Which sucks and reeks of the course correction bs. Just make a good film and stop checking boxes. This movie has too many new characters and important events to be so short.

Not necessarily a longer version, but rather the original Snyder/Terrio movie, please.

Chances are slim...

Maybe an extended cut like Suicide Squad at best.

Only way it happens is if Snyder pushes for it, and I doubt he cares anymore at this point.

Yeah, chances are slim, unfortunately.

It's a shame really. For someone who adored the first two films, I should be buzzing for this, but I'm not. Not even a little bit.

Hopefully when I watch it, I'll have a highly positive reaction to hype you up! Would that help? Since I also adore the first 2 films. :oldrazz:

I actually think an extended version on home video has a great chance of happening, why? Because both Batman v Superman: Ultimate Cut and Suicide Squad: Extended Cut were very successful on home video. Sometimes you have to look at WBs as it is a business that wants to make money. So if they think they can do that on home video then I bet you they will

Well, I'll certainly be here and read everyone's reactions. Even if I end up not liking the movie, I hope you guys do enjoy it.

Also there is a difference between an "ultimate edition" and "extended." The ultimate edition was Snyder's original version of BvS, supervised by him. The extended version of SS was put together by the studio, I dont think Ayer had any involvemenr with it.

Oh really? I wasn’t aware of that with SS.

Just release the same movie in theaters and home release, why have different versions of films. Only thing I want on home releases are deleted scenes BTS and commentary. I just don't understand the need for releasing a theatrical version and then a "real version" later.

I get the reasons why you think that but as far as a business decision goes releasing an extended version can really boost profits.

That's probably a part of it.

Or, maybe Whedon and the producers felt that's all the footage that was worthy of release for the theatrical version.

People are really underestimating how straightforward this story is gonna be. Bad guy shows up and starts stealing Mother Boxes. Batman and Wonder Woman try to recruit the metahumans that we learned about in BvS. Good guys join forces to defeat the bad guy. Along the way, Superman comes back to life and joins the fight.

It's REALLY that simple, folks. Steppenwolf is not a particularly deep or compelling villain. He's Darkseid's muscle. As long as he's threatening, it'll be fine. But don't expect some rich backstory for him. Same goes for the new kids on the team. This movie will function as an INTRODUCTION to them. It's NOT a character study for Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. They are simply introduced as three unlikely heroes (for three different reasons), and then they have to put that aside to save the day.

Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman have all already had their introductory films, so they don't need a ton of development either.

From what we know about the plot (for those of us who read the spoilers), you can EASILY fit that into a 2 hour film. Just because The Avengers had an extra 15-20 minutes of fat lined into their movie doesn't mean Justice League needs to do that.

absolutely nay :sigh:. i just hope we have an entertaining enough movie and not a butchered nightmare that was the BvS theatrical edition.
