The JLA once got taken out and enslaved by a starfish.
Not sure exactly how related this will be to your current discusion. BUT, there is much about the human mind controlling the human bodies functions etc. that modern medicine knows very little about.
I can't remember exactly what show it was but it was on the Discovery channel a few years ago and some scientist or host or whatever was travelling around the world studying different cultures I can't remember exactly what the purpose was.
But he spent some time with the Shao Lin Monks (sp) and as I am sure many of you have seen their demonstrations of control over their bodies and being able to withstand their bodies being pierced with swords while they bend them against their skin etc. (Although I am sure many are skeptic about this and would relate it to something along the lines of walking on hot coals or laying on a bed of nails, more about physics than actualy body manipulation).
Anyway, what did really interest me was that the monks would practice a specific technique where they would wrap their upper bodies in wet sheets and then meditate. They would literally dry the sheets with the bodies. They raised their body temperatures high enough so the film crew could actually see steam comming off the sheets draped over them.

Wolverine has a healing factor. I don't think those gases would work on him. I know Batman is suppose to be peak human or whatever, but Wolverine is slightly beyond that. One on one, Wolverine has him in hand to hand combat. You have to realize to that these guys use the Danger room to train in, something that the JLA doesn't have. Besides I have seen Wolverine give the Hulk a hard time so I can only imagine what he would do to Batman. Batman gets way to much credit. I honestly don't think Batman could beat Daredevil. There is no way that Batman could beat him. Aiight Cap, do you think that Batman could beat Cyclops?
Does Starro have to be on the face of its host? IIRC Starro was on the chest of Superman and thats why no one knew he was being controlled. Also I believe Starro's powers are psychic in nature but it must be extremely powerful as it can control every person in the world simultaneously including other psychics such as Martian Manhunter.
ya, I think Bats could take DD down no prob.
Very interesting, and while I'm agreement with you on your post why would Xavier automatically know how to do this stuff? Just becuase he can read and control minds does not give him some mutant insight on the entire human brain. The human brain according to science only operates at around a 10 percent capacity if i'm not mistaken. There are areas of the brain that science has yet to explain. I don't know why in the wolrd Prof X with his telepathy and would be able to do things to your body that his nothing to do with thought.
Well, Vision for one is a synthetically constructed being...so his abilities to control his density (so basically like a robot powering one of its functions) and being unable to go through Magneto's shield is one thing, while the Flash has the Speed Force which is an entirely different concept; which is in itself basically a force of nature. Wouldn't be a shock if Flash, especially Wally, would be able to triumph such a feat being so in tune with the Speed Force.
I never seen Wally vibrate through anything so dense; besides trees, walls, etc.
Maggs pwns Superman and Green Lantern that is for sure.

Plus, we've already covered the fact that a speedster wouldn't even need to get through Magneto's force field to potentially pwn him.
I don't know about Superman, but yea Mags could just do what Polaris did to Kyle.
Also, I fail to remember how Polaris owned Supes in a way that Mags could do the same. All he did was toss a ****load, or rather a few cubin billion tons, of metal at him that just happened to be hidden beneath the surface of the South Pole.
What would Mags do? I keep remember people talking about him being able to "pull out" the energy of the Sun that powers Supes...but wouldn't he just keep getting fed back the same energy? Or can all of a Sudden Mags can completely block out the Sun or affect even it? Even if for some gay reason Mags could do something like any of that...he would have to give his concentration on Supes, therefore creating an opening for a strike against him. Not like he would do it in one second, that would be absurd.
Dr. Polaris was hitting Superman with Submarines and hurting him, he made GL punch himself with his own ring!
Maggs could do much more.
