Kieran and Michele Maroney, husband and wife team.

The people that apparently "knocked WB's socks off" with their script, have a total of 2 writing credits to their name. Only one has been released, a comedy that nobody saw except for the 22 people that gave it a 3.9 user rating on IMDB.

Their hiring for what is supposed to be WB's major 2009 summer release is on the somebody working for WB is their uncle level of disturbing.

You know how you just get a feeling if someone actual cares and I don't see it with these two.

These two are green and they're going to tackle ensemble like the JLA.

Does anyone know anything about these people?

And I'm pissed about the writers strike. Because that's whats fast tracking this which robbed me of my plan. I had my script in 2nd draft and a producer and everything. We were getting set up to pitch to WB and then the writers strike made them put the muscle behind it quick.

It coulda been my movie damn it!

Your point about them being green is noted but still outside of their known work you or I are not aware of what they are capable of. Every great talent is at some point "green."

Alan Horn, in late 2003, said the screenplay to "TROY" by David Benioff was the "best script he had ever read".

How did that turn out?

I dont think JLA is gonna be good or help the DC franchise

Apparently the director's cut of Troy is amazing so maybe it was the best script he ever read. From what I understand, the movie was ruined in the editing room.

Editing had nothing to do with Brad Pitt resurrecting his character of Floyd from True Romance and giving him a sword.

My biggest problem with Troy, and I don't want to get too far off topic so I'll leave it at this is that Bana was the only likeable character in the entire movie. Everyone else was either a dick or a total putz. And that is something that could have happened in the editing room.

Keep the dream alive, this current JL project could still go belly up.

Some Youtuber needs to make a Superman & Batman version of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, attempting to stop the JLA movie from being made. Even have it start off with Supes and Bats reading the hate on this message board.

I think a better idea would be a film about trying to make the Justice League movie and all the ensuring problems with such a project, it'd be a comedy or course :woot:

What you are failing to mention here (and also IMDb) is the fact that the reason why the Mulroneys were chosen, was becasue of the their re-write of "Mr. and Mrs Smith". According to the original Variety article, Justice prevails for Warner Brothers, their re-write caught the attention of the studios around Hollywood. The article goes on to say that they are credited with other screenplay projects such as "On the Nature of Human Romantic Interaction,"Paper Man" and "Worst Case".

It's amazing they won't give Bruce Timm a chance. :)

If you believe the documentaries that have been aired about "Superman Doomsday" Timm is busy mentoring a new crop of animators over at WB Animations.

I only went based off of what I saw them credited for on imdb. And Mr & Mrs Smith wasn't all that great script anyway, Pitt & Jolie carried that movie, the best moments in that movie were their gestures and expressions of relationship frustration towards each other - something a writer has no control of

That's just your opinion and it doesn't really matter. What does is the fact that the studios around Hollywood noticed their work and the WB hired them on for that reason. The IMDb reference is a little misleading and is kind of sending the wrong message to readers.

Read the Variety article you posted again. See the last line? It has their agency contact. That piece was driven by a publicist. They may have done a re-write to Mr. & Mrs. Smith and may have caught some attention around town, but their draft wasn't filmed, nor are any of their other projects in production. Their/WB's publicist is fluffing them in that line.

I'd agree with that, but that's also the feeling I got when reading the Illiad.

I haven't read the Illiad, but Hector is the best character in that as well, huh?

It think the report was by Pamela McClintock with Ben Fritz contributing to the report. Both of them work for Variety. They quoted Jeff Rubinov, Warner Brothers president of production who obviously told them about the hiring of the Mulroneys and the attention they got from the studio's for the re-write. Rubinov more than likely also told Variety about Dan Lin handling production on WB's side. I doubt that the article was a press release by the Mulroney's publicist. All I am saying is that the WB hired the Mulroneys based on works that they saw that is not necessarily posted on IMDb, which is something that you didn't report.

Same here. I think WB is desperate & rushing this film too quick. You can't just read a script & give it the ok with a big epic film like in JLA. Lot of superhero movies go through several scripts change. WB better pray JLA is a success. Of course it could be a success because it has the heroes, but bad stories.

OK, you may not be able to tell from my internet message board grammar, but I, as well as my two best friends, have been writing press releases for five+ years in three completely different industries. Reporters build their story from the press release and may make some follow up calls to confirm or gather info.

Its regular practice to include quotes from those involved in that press release for them to print in the article, just like Rubinov's. This is standard media relations.

All I am saying is that the WB hired the Mulroneys based on works that they saw that is not necessarily posted on IMDb, which is something that you didn't report.

I know. Because there was nothing to report, all those works they sited aren't even in production. I sited actual productions in which they've received credit. The article pointed out works in progress the Mulroney's agency is attempting to sell.

Wait, let me get this straight. You had a script for JLA, and producers. Who are these producers and what have they produced. I can't see the WB hading off a project like JLA to untested writers and producers.

Damn. It's happening all over again and we can't do anything to stop it. Just more rushed trash, just like X-men 3. This is NOT going to work.

It's not just his opinion. Pitt and Jolie were two of the hottest celebrities when that movie came out. I guarantee you their fans went to see that movie multiple times because THEY were in it, not because of some script written by a couple of nobodies...:yay:
