I haven't seen a thread on this yet...or maybe I missed it. Has anyone else seen this show on HBO? I watched the first episode and all it really did was try for the "How many times can we say f**k in one hour" record and confuse the hell out of me.

Is this supposed to be some sort of Hero's type show or what??

I watched the first episode but I couldn't tell anyone what the hell it's about. I'll watch a few more to see where it goes but they better start explaining what's going on.

I thought John was a demon or the Antichrist and Shaun was Jesus. My main reason for thinking that is that John's last name, Monad, is an anagram of "damon," which I think I've seen some people use as the Antichrist's name. I figured it made about as much sense as anything else in the show so far. Of course, if Shaun or John are supposed to be Jesus, why hell can Mitch levitate?

Deadwood would hold the F Bomb Record

That's pretty much where I am now too. I'm all for suspense and a little mystery...but that first episode was just a mess and frankly a little boring.

I'm surprised that not many people like this show. Not just here either, I looked around on the internet and it seems not many people like it. I for one love it. Its all so crazy.

John: "Room 24 will give up its dead and the dead shall be forgiven"

Then in the next ep. the motel owner sees ghosts or something in room 24. I cant wait to find out whats going on.

I have to aplaude this series. By now any other show on television would start answering questions.

But not John from Cincinnati. They're actually piling more and more onto the pile.

Is it any relation to lost which gave one answer and thats they are on a island.

I really find this show unwatchable at times....am I missing something?

Nope. I think most everyone is just watching to see the answer to the question everyone asks.

And that kid who plays Shawn is awful... I hope it is just how he is supposed to play the character and not an actual attempt from him to act.

You know it's not. I could believe that if Shawn were always subdued and quiet, but he got angry and yelled at his friends in the episode prior to last night's and the actor was still totally monotone and unengaging. I think the kid who plays Shawn may just lack a soul or be incapable of modulating his voice in any way. :(

He should learn from his grandmother... her yelling was soooooo annoying in the beginning.

And was I the only one thinking Kai was going to shoot Butchie and/or herself?

Cissy still annoys me. Rebecca De Mornay is really hot for a woman her age, but listening to her character talk is like nails on a chalkboard to me. She's just ****ing crazy for crazy's sake.

A lot of the characters are (insert mental condition here) for (insert mental condition here)'s sake.

I have a feeling that this entire thing is what Lost became, a strange show just throwing things at a wall and seeing what sticks with no real plan at the end.

I think there is some plan to it. I just pray it's a self-contained series that doesn't get stretched out for years. I want it to tell its story, solve all of its mysteries, and be done in one season.

Or at least like other 'weird mystery' shows, it answers some big questions in one season and goes on to ask more questions in another season and go on to answer those.

Well I was really enjoying this show. But I found myself bored watching the last two episodes. Hopefully the next one is better.

Cissy is a gilf but her act is getting old. All she does is yell. I would hate to have a wife or mom like that.

I think it's because the last two episodes have featured a lot of the Yost family. The first couple episodes had a lot of other stuff to offset the Yosts' melodrama, like John being extra-weird and what the hell Freddie's deal was and the crazy guy who owns the motel now. The last couple of episodes have been almost exclusively about the Yosts at each others' throats with a little bit of John; but the Yosts, I've found, are mostly just annoying idiots and John's weirdness is quickly becoming old hat because it doesn't seem like any explanation for it is forthcoming.

Yeah, they need to show everyone in this little world. Cause that is what made the first episode good and each episode after a little more boring.

Well, for me, it's also losing its luster because I found the first episode more intriguing than good, and every episode after that has been a little less intriguing and a little more frustratingly obtuse.
