John Lasseter rebooting Winnie the Pooh for Disney

Well, a retelling. Whatever.

if the guys from pixar start rebooting movie then its really over.

The team from Pixar doing Winnie the Pooh? I loved it as a kid.

this fall...Winnie the Pooh Begins.

Yep, I officially wish Batman Begins never happened.

I couldn't resist :D

That said, if the animation style is close to the original illustrations it would be really cool.

Well, it should be good because it's not going to be CGI'd.

I woulndn't mind seeing a Pooh movie in CG.

"They told me there was no honey there, nothing but bees... but the night I first tasted that honey I caught a glimpse of something... I've looked fir it ever since... I went searching through every forest, searched in all the holes in the trees... and there was something out there in that forest, something tasty, something that would not stop calling my name until I tasted it... me."

I couldn't resist.

That is the teaser right there. And it has to be done with that narration, and only brief flash glimpses of each character. Then the money shot...."a full widescreen action scene of Pooh escaping the hive with a giant swarm chasing him towards the screen.

I think these are classic and really charming  It'd be cool to see a 2D film in this style.

when i was a kid i saw alot of those old pooh cartoons/films. Should be interesting to see what they do with the character today.

I know there have been CG versions of Pooh and they all looked scary. Granted, they weren't done by Pixar but I'd still rather see this done the old-fashioned hand-drawn way.

I don't think they'll look like that. They'll probably looked like the Disney versions.

This should be good, the classic movie from '76 was one of my favorites as a kid. I'm glad Pixar is starting to do hand drawn animation, they saw what they created & they're trying to change it.

Don't see how this is a reboot.

Same here. This sounds more like a sequel to The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh. There have been attempts at "sequels" in the past, but none were based off of the books the way the first one was. They said that this movie will be another amalgamation of stories written by A.A. Miline the way the first one was, and that sounds like it could actually be very good. A reboot however, this is not.

Hopefully they honnor what A A miline did with pooh.

this fall...Winnie the Pooh Begins.
"I'm going to show the people of the Hundred Acre Wood that it doesn't belong to the criminals and the corrupt. People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy. I can't do this as Pooh Bear. A bear is just flesh and blood and can be ignored or destroyed. But as a raincloud... as a little black raincloud, I can be incorruptible, everlasting."

:atp:

I had an idea for this a few months ago.

My idea was kind of a mix between live action and animation, like where it starts out with Christopher Robin moving into a new house with these vast woods behind the house. Slowly things develop from there.

I think my idea was kind of inspired by the idea behind Where the Wild Things Are.

that would be interesting if they choose to go in that direction.

will this be considered to be a major Disney animated film, thus being part of the 'Disney Animated Collection', or just a "Return to Neverland" film where it gets dumped into theaters?
