Joker 2019 boxoffice predictions

With all the shenanigans that WB pulled with Justice League in its current form, it losing out to Joker is only a good thing, given what the film could have been.

But great for Joker. Less so for all those pundits who tried to basically drive audiences away with fear, not to mention those who may have questioned whether people would see a Joker movie without Batman. Obviously audiences showed up with a resounding "Hell yes!"

Nice to see the numbers only go up. After so much media BS with this movie it's great to see that the majority of the movie going audience decided whether or not to show up for themselves and no big surprise here that they showed up in droves.

Just wow at those OS numbers. As impressive as its domestic performance is OS it's on a whole other level and they really seem to be embracing it. They don't give a **** about any of the dumb media controversy that's here in the States, and honestly I could not respect them more for it.

Has anyone here had a chance to see the film more than once?

Not that I'm (completely) jealous or anything. Just wondering.

I saw it twice during opening weekend. Plan on going back one more time before it leaves theaters.

Regardless of my feelings towards the movie, I’m blown away by the numbers this movie is putting up. Simply amazing.

I’m convinced WB should earmark October for DC properties in the future. Just like Marvel Studios has done by earmarking February, late April/early May and late summer/November.

Still release big titles in prime spots like summer and Christmas (if Disney has to delay a SW or Avatar movie), but fall is no longer a dumping ground for the right movie.

More importantly, international numbers aren't predicated by NA scheduling. The international audience is quite flexible and open minded than most studio heads about movie selection.

A 55M R-rated character piece lead by a psychopath would a be a risk for any studio in this day and age.

You're right to a degree, but this is a special case since this was the most well-known villain in comics. Joker has never been far from the heartbeat of pop culture, so there was a built-in audience for this film. Couple that with a tiny budget, and I'd characterize it as a moderate risk. There have been quite a few CBMs that were more risky when all factors are considered.

It has potential to come close Venom's heights of over $800 million, or Suicide Squad's $750 million as a low point.
