Pretty sure Spider-Man is the most profitable superhero in movie history.

Infinity War & Endgame made $4.8b combined alone.

.

The Avengers movies don't count. They feature various standalone superheroes who had SOLO MOVIES before Civil War, Avengers 3 and 4. Also, Spider-Man is just a cameo on Endgame.

So leave the 3 Avengers movies alone.

Batman is the supreme king. Without counting the animated series, the animated movies, the LEGO movies and... well, comic book sales.

Pretty sure Spider-Man is the most profitable superhero in movie history.

Infinity War & Endgame made $4.8b combined alone. Then Far Far Home made another $1.1b, Homecoming $900m, then you've the Toby Maguire trilogy to add on probably another $2b or so, Garfield's 2 movies another $1.5b, Into The Spider-Verse another £350m..

Spider-Man's way out ahead at the minute.
uh... way out ahead is just a tad over-exaggerated if not a flat out false statement entirely. Also, Including the Avengers' movies does not seem to make any kind of sense whatsoever because get this, ...THEY ARE NOT SPIDERMAN MOVIES! In addition, just cause they have been cranking out spiderman among other marvel movies at a rate that has never happened before in history in the last 20 years(almost 4 per year in the last 20 years but particularly the last decade), using an all in total measure seems a bit ridiculous. That's no different than saying, "They have made more spiderman movies therefore spiderman is more profitable"

Obviously such a statement is not only absurdly childish but is a fundamentally obtuse understanding of the franchise(comic book) industries.

You've literally included Suicide Squad & Joker in Batman's overall tally, one of which he has a cameo & the other he plays literally no part.. why are both of those being included in your tally towards Batman?

Not including Avengers films makes about the same amount of sense as including Suicide Squad, Joker..

I did not make that argument at all. My argument is just pointing out that saying "more movies equals said franchise is inherently more profitable than the other" is ridiculous. With that said, Joker is part of the Batman franchise. Just as Venom is part of the Spiderman franchise. But as I said before, that has nothing to do with my previous post so I am not sure why you made this reply at me.

Who said that though?

You've made 2 posts directed at me & I've honestly no idea what you're talking about or why you even replied to my initial post.

$849,1 mil WW.

Refuses to die.

$900 mil is now a foregone conclusion.

Will hit $925 mil. $1 Billion still seems unlikely to me but not completely impossible.

BvS - $873.6 million
Joker - $849.1 million
WW - $821.8 million

It will surpass BvS :lmao: Man the old DCEU was such a ****ing failure.

This sets the bar high for future Bat related projects that's for sure.

Under 40% drop OS this week. If the trend continues than 700M OS can. 300+ DOM is locked so a very, very, very good chance 1B happens. I think the worst case scenario is 960M WW right now but Terninator or Midway shouldn't hurt it much. Probably even bigger box office story than Endgame. R-rating, no China, no 3D... Freaking mental.

It will take some hit from Dark Fate and Midway no way around it. It just may be a small one.

As far as the impressive box office numbers being an R Rated film also lacking a China release is indeed remarkable but i dont think the lack of 3d played any noticeable role.

Only 1 out of 10 people prefer 3d over 2d anyways.

3d is dying and it doesnt have that much of an impact imho.

Went to see it again with a non-comic book person. She loved it. She was convinced Joker is making up the whole story. And the cinema was packed, which is very rare for a Sunday night for a film that has been out this long.

Guy made a thread and people said the same thing. Forbes even posted this. Spiderman even during the amazing franchise still sells more toys than Batman and avengers combined

I don't know about all that but purely from a box office perspective Batman isn't more profitable even if you only count the legitimate solo films as he requested.

But BVS was hijacked by the critics and it made some money from DVDs', cause that is totally more important than box office. The Snyder era was garbage and the only reason MOS made whatever it did is because of Nolan and Goyer. Even Snyder's patented "visuals" were awful.

Well, 3D would still count for 20-30% of sold tickets. Dark Fate's bombing already cos it premiered in many big markets last week and should do well only in China. Midway I think could do fine in Europe but don't think it can make more than 100-120M OS without China.

Well:

JOKER:

Bruce Wayne is the main character of the Batman franchise, so his age doesn't matter, this is still an origin story for both Batman's greatest archenemy (Joker) and Batman himself.
Also, in "JOKER", Thomas Wayne plays a pivotal role and Arthur Fleck is The setting is Gotham City.
Joker is not a superhero, he is Batman's archenemy, so this movie belongs to the BATMAN MOVIE FRANCHISE.

SUICIDE SQUAD:

It's a movie about the villains of the Batman franchise: Harley Quinn (lead), Joker, Deadshot (lead), Killer Croc. There are no superheroes on it (except Batman).
Batman appears.
So, it's a movie belonging to the BATMAN MOVIE FRANCHISE.

One can say Iron Man is more profitable as Iron Man is at the very least a co-lead in all 4 Avengers movies and arguably in Civil War as well.

Which would put him at $11.35B across 8 movies.

Since production costs were split 50/50 between three studios, does WB only get 50% of the box office profits?
