Joker actor poll

Agreed. The Joker won't be back, so that's the end of that.

And, with respect, Nolan is hardly the type of director who would cast someone just because they look like the previous actor who played the role.

No, but Joseph Gordon Levitt is an outstanding actor who's best work is yet to come.
His resemblance alone isn't enough and would be silly to cast him on just that.

But this kid can act. And Nolan obviousley wanted The Joker to stick around. So Heaths death (tragic as it may be) shouldn't be the deciding factor in keeping Nolan from doing what he may have been planning since he introduced that card at the end of Batman Begins. Jokers work is far from done, as he says in the end
"We are destined to do this forever"

Why are you so sure of that?

That, I can agree with. If he's going to recast, it'll be based on the merits of their ability, although that doesn't mean they should entirely disregard the element of physical similarity.

If Nolan brings back Joker (I don't think he will...) then we can rely on him to choose wisely. Chill.

Levitt looks like Ledger's younger brother. He would be Joker Jr.

He can get bigger. Thats not unheard of, especially in The Batman movies

Levitt could be a good joker.

I have another suggestion, and I know everyone will think he is a terrible choice, but Jim Carrey. After seeing him in the number 23, he could maybe pull the joker off. He could have his hair long like ledgers, and I think he could do it.

Actually, I agree. Levitt looks like Heath Ledger as a sixteen year-old. Of course, you couldn't tell under the makeup, but he'd definitely have to get a bit bigger.

i think no one said jim carey cuz we all picture him still as the riddler lol but i mean i know what ur saying though could deff see it

I couldn't see it.
At all;
I can see Carrey as the Joker. I saw shades of him in Ledger's performance. But his celebrity would far overshadow the character, and he would basically be playing the same character he's lately been trying to get away from with more serious roles. Plus, he was the Riddler.

Jim Carrey playing the Riddler instead of the Joker was one of the great missed opportunities of the Batman series.

but Carrey wasn't **** in 89, he was just a limb flailing rubber faced spazz.... He would not of have known what to do with the role, in any way.
Plus, so many hated the idea at the time of Keaton being Bats, that Nicholson being in the movie was probably what enticed (non batfan) people to see it.

Unless you mean Carrey playing some sort of revamped Joker role...which I dont see making sense either since Joker died in the 89 flick, but then I guess we'd get into the whole "the burton and schumacher films aren't sequels" debate, and that's just not necessary.

Either way... Nicholson did fine, I just wish he was thinner faced for the role, acting wise he was damn decent though.

and Ledger definitely gives him a run for his money, I do prefer the Ledger rendition, but it's just different times and different eras really, I suppose.

I am not saying Carrey should have played the Joker instead of Nicholson, rather that he just should have played the character at some point rather than the Riddler.

Jim Carrey could play Joker, but it shouldn't be JIM CARREY playing The Joker if you know what I mean.
