I'm sorry but the fact that he already played the Green Goblin automatically disqualifies him. I agree he would make an AWESOME Joker and if I had to choose him to be one villain...it would be Joker, but the way Willem Dafoe played the Green Goblin is wayyyyyyy too similar to the Joker. I have no doubt in my mind that even if us fanboys/girls were to see past him already playing the Green Goblin, the general audience won't. Willem knows it, WB probably knows it.....and Christopher Nolan sure as hell knows it. It's too bad because he could've easily topped Jack Nicholson.

I think that they're obviously going to be doing something very different with Joker, so Willem could avoid typecasting just by being in the next one.

OMG... conan obrien as the joker... can you imagine that? Hes already pale enough to be Joker without any extra make-up. Hes got that goofy hair, just needs some coloring, lipstick and gloss, and hes ready to go.

But Dafoe all the way. He has said he doesn't care about typecasting, besides he would look physically different than Normon.

Also, the thing is, and he himself has said this (Willem), that very few of his roles are the "bad guys" and that everyone seems to associate him with them - and that's true. But screw the typecasters, that's not what matters. What matters is if he can do the part in every aspect - which he can.

Dafoe was actually a canadate one time in the 1989 version of Batman. Of course at that time I don't see how they could have used The Joker killed Waynes thing, Dafoe was a lot younger then.
I think Dafoe would do great as the Joker, but I just don't see it since he was Green Goblin. He would be a big name if they were looking. It wouldn't be the first time either that a Marvel Movie person crossed over to DC. Bryan Singer X-Men now Superman Returns, Joss Whedon - one time X-Men 3 contender now Wonder Woman, david Goyer The Blade movies now Batman Begins and The Flash.
It might could happen, but I just don't see it!

I just have to report with horror that after I saw the movie the other night, I walked behind a group of people and many of them actually thought that Jack Nicholson would come back and play the role.

Couldn't believe anyone could watch that movie and think that's where it's going.
