I'm just giving this thread the BIG BUMP. Too many new threads popping up with people giving their casting suggestions. We should restrict Joker casting talk to this thread.

Oh, and what do you guys think about Kevin Bacon?

Pitt is a pretty boy, leading man, not a character actor. Not a very good one, anyone.

See, the thing about Tim Roth is, yeah, about 10 years ago he would have been a great Joker. Watch "Rob Roy", he plays one of the best villains ever in that. But now, I'm not so sure.

All of these pics are from the 90s. Now, Tim Roth has put on weight, and has aged quite a bit too.

Tobey Maguire is a fat pig right now.But he'll be Spider-Man again :joker:

Anyone heard of Paddy Considine? He's not really a big name over in America, but over here in the UK he's fast gaining a reputation as one of the best actors around today. He's billed by some as "The British DeNiro".

He's got that tall and lanky build of The Joker, and has that on-screen intensity that really puts you on edge. Plus, at age 30, he isn't too old. Only problem may be whether or not he can pull off an American accent.

A fine actor, but too distinctive and just too wrong to play this part.

i odnt think it will happen, but it is an interesting thought. i owuld never have thought Brad Pitt for Joker. but i think played a certain way it could be right. my only problem is would be that to the General audience (not Batfans) Brad Pitt would be the star, and he would probably want a certain amount of screen time. wait this has happendbefore in 1989.

when in reality it should be Batman & Christian Bale's movie. to me the same thought applies to Johnny Depp which many ppl have mentioned. i owuldnt want a ''Star'' who would out ''star'' Bale so to speak.

people like; Crispin Glover, Lachey Hulme and all the other mildly recognisable actors would be better IMO because they are talented but they wont make the charcter bigger than Batman which even the Joker shudnt be.

I can see it, I think he would be a pretty good choice one the one hand, but alot of people I think are still pulling for him to play captain america in that movie sometime down the road, I think he would make a convincing joker though, the problem I think would be, a couple people might think he would over shadow the charcter, similar to what nicholson did in batman 89, I mean nicholson played an awesome joker, but people saw him first as nicholson then as joker, and if they were to cast brad pitt, I would see the same thing happening again, I would rather they go with an actor who is not as well known, someone like crispin glover, or adrian brody if he put on some muscle, I think brody could do it because I saw him play a killer in a movie where he buried this girl alive, but I can't remember the name of it, my only gripe with brody is he looks like bale would break him in two, so if he put on some muscle I would agree with him.

Brad Pitt can do whatever he wants. He's not just a good looking guy. "12 Monkeys," his little part in "True Romance," "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," "Ocean's 11," "Troy," "Sleepers," "Interview with the Vampire," and especially "Fight Club" show his skill as an actor and his ability to play a vast variety of characters ranging from completely insane to a cool, smooth, wise-cracking suit. As a matter of fact, he chipped a tooth while doing "Fight Club" and didn't bother filling it in until the movie was over because he thought it made the character better. He's not just looks, my friend.

HOWEVER, him as Joker is wrong. Joker isn't supposed to be able to go down and dirty with Batman. Ever. Joker's supposed to be insane and extremely dangerous, but it's more on an operational level. He's a crappy fighter. He always has been. He's not built at all. He's tall and skinny. Definitely not buff like Pitt is (even though he could lose all that, but either way he wouldn't look even remotely the part).

By the way, Attikus, that was hilarious how you attempted to keep suspense about who you were talking about even though you put his name in the title of your thread. Good one. :)

Yeah, that was pretty cute... :D

Not quite. The Joker beat Batman in hand-to-hand combat during their first run in. The modern age-version is indeed a weakling, though.

True, but every new villain introduced in those early comics could put up a straight fight against Batman and almost win. The myth of Batman as one of the greatest fighters on earth just hadn't been established yet.

I mean, in those first appearances, every time he meets a new costumed freak (even scrawny ones like the Scarecrow) he goes "Have I finally met someone who can match me in a brawl?" It's quite silly really, if you consider Batman's current reputation in hand-to-hand combat... :)

Yeah the original first appearance joker wasnt a weakling like todays version

he was based on Conrad Vedt - a very physical and muscular but wiry actor

Pitt in Fightclub, twelve Monkeys an Kalifornia did indeed play psychos

But the joker is on another level of insanity - far beyond even Hannibal Lector

Hannibal Lector is order

Joker is pure chaos

While Pitt has the acting chops to do it I'd rather see him as a superhero
Aquaman, Thor whatever

But Ed Norton from fightclub would make a good Riddler

Come on guys! What's with all these new threads like "Brad Pitt For Joker" and "Who shud play da joker OMG LOL PWN teh sex" popping up? This thread was created for a reason. Try and keep Joker casting discussion in this thread.

I mean, this, which we should try and make the official Joker casting thread, has been relegated to page 2 while various pointless new threads have been started. Let's try and make things easier by keeping casting discussion here folks.

Okay, giving this THE BIG BUMP...
