Joker Costume for Halloween

@ Blindside: Nice find buddy :), iv still gotta get my pants :)
Thanks man.

I actually went to 2 different Goodwill's that day.

I was super excited when I saw the first pair, but at the other one, I nearly had a little party right there in the store when I found those pinstripe pants. I have been looking all over online, and almost settled on dying some khaki's.

I also saw a purple wool long coat with big lapels just like Heath's, but the sleeves were really short and the buttons were on the opposite side since it was a woman's coat.

I was super lucky that day I suppose.

Offer is open to anyone on the other pants. I'll sell them to you for the price they went for at Goodwill + shipping if you have paypal. Much better than paying 25 bucks for the same type on eBay just because the seller put "heath ledger joker" in the description.

So are the pants you found with the stripes blue or purple?

The flash makes them look blue. They're definatley purple.

His are more of a royal blue color, but I'm still very happy about them.

My costume hunt has been put on the backburner because I'm running low on cash - and my hours at work are being cut. :csad: With my other expenses (*cough* GAS *cough*), I think it's a bad idea to keep spending money on something that I have two months to complete. :woot:

I tried to choose my words carefully so as NOT to offend anyone but I suppose they're read over too quickly, or misinterpreted. I said "I'd like to think" because the idea of being more ballsy makes me happy. xD Obviously it takes guts to costume at all, as anything, because of the sheer stupidity of human kind and their reactions to such "odd" behavoir. I guess I find it a bit peculiar that people might tell us to "get a life" because obviously we're doing something we enjoy doing, and that's the life I want.

Maybe, to them, "life" means school, college, job, family... death. Oh, joy! What fun! (sarcasm) ... Anyway. Tick-Tock, that was my idea, really. I wanted a costume as screen accurate as possible on my budget. Obviously if I find a nice woman's coat that is more flattering and better looking with the costume, I'll purchase it. I'm not going to be passing over all of the female items out there. But I still want the end result to look like... well, er... the Joker. :3 I really don't know how to word that without it offending anyone. Obviously these femme-joker costumes sound like they're gonna be pretty kick-ass.

Honestly, I think I'm quite lucky, being female. Because I can choose between men and women's clothes for this particular costume and not have to feel strange at all about it, while men who find "that perfect coat" in the women's section might have to think twice before purchasing it. Men and women's clothes do have entirely different shapes to them. x3

I have the satin for the underside of the overcoat, but still need to pick up my purple wool. Can anyone suggest where to get the wool from for the best price and what type to get? I know a few people have made the coat and I wanted to find out who has had luck with matching the color and style up for a reasonable price?

Any of you clowns located in toronto? A pretty big photographer is coming to Toronto to do a TDK related shoot on Wednesday (the 20th) we're one guy short right now so I was wondering if there was anyone who lives in the city and has a couple of hours to kill? I know its very short notice but one of my guys had to drop out last minute because of work. Should be a very cool experience.

Please pm me for details

so i have been looking around at makeup kits, to see which one i would like to get. I was told on here that they used aquacolor makeup on the film, so i figured i would look for them...

i came across these two types:

Ben Nye magiCake Aqua Paints:
http://stageandtheatermakeup.com/bnmagiaq.htm

Kryolan aquacolors:
http://www.dauphines.co.uk/product-...up-palette-gb-6-colours-for-facepainting.html

What do you think, which would be best, Ben Nye or Kryolan? will they do the trick? maybe give it the distressed look i want, then seal it with something like Final Seal by Ben Nye??

I think both Ben Nye and Kryolan are quality brands that will do the trick, but I wouldn't buy them from overseas... you should be able to find them in the US and save on the exchange rate and shipping/handling. Ben Nye seems to be the more popular brand.

By the way, where on ebay did you get your costume again? I found about three Asian sellers there, and I'm concerned that what I buy won't look anything like what they claim to sell in those pictures--one of them put up an auction for an almost neon green and purple costume.

thanks for the reply lmuboy03 :).
I am actually from england so the site with the £ currency would be great for me :)...

Any way, i got my coat and vest from an ebay seller called Dream-cosplay

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Dream-Cosplay

the pictures on the item description showed the vest as a dark green and the coat as a dark purple, so i bought them, but when they arrived the vest was very bright green (as you can seen in a picture of one of my earlier posts), and the coat was a dark burgundy colour. But i figured i couldn't fault the rest of it, quality etc. so i let it slide. I am going to dye the vest a darker green, to make it a little more screen accurate though, but im going to leave the coat as it is otherwise it would ruin the lining.

you do kind of have to be careful who you but the items from, i dont think any of them will be dead on screen accurate though...
Although Redball's Joker coat, is probably as close as you will get to that:

Just a tad too expensive for me though lol.

Dont know if this has been discussed here or not but thought I would share this info. I found that there are dozens of cheap pocket watches on ebay for 5-20 bucks, most of the chains arent long enough though but heck for those prices Id find a way to make it work. Here is one example.

wow that watch is awesome looking.... i was actually thinking about buying one of those fan made pocket watches with the joker's picture in the background.... but i like that watch much better

I just got home buying this babies today from The Burlington Coat Factory. they're white stag men's shoes size 9 1/2. only 20 bucks and they look similar "enough" to the Jokers.

Tonight I'll be playing with the prosthetics that came in the mail today as well. Going to try on REAL fake scars for a first time.

pretty much what i said haha. quoting is so much easier :P

I see what you mean noxas, I guess the vest is a little "too" green, but they seriously look excellent tho, the style & the fit!

What does the fabric of the jacket & vest feel like?, I cant tell from the pics.

Noxas, how long did it take for the coat to get to you?

hey i have a question. i just bought a long wool jacket from a flea market for five bucks... hell of a deal XD its perfect but i have to dye it.. i was wondering if there was a way of dying the coat a color and the interior a different color.?

JokerHahaha, i would suggest that you dye the whole coat purple, then after it dries to the color of your liking(if not add more purple and keep going)go to wal-mart(or some other place that sells fabric material) and get some orange satin fabric material then measure and cut it, etc etc etc then use fabric adhesive(liquid stitch) to line the inside of the coat with the orange satin material, beats sewing it, it will hold. Hope that helps

If you have access to someone who can sew, then what about cutting or ripping out (with a seam ripper) the lining and either dyeing that and sewing it back in or just replacing that with new material?

thanks for the reply lmuboy03 :).

The Dream-Cosplay coat and jacket were the one's I was going to get because they tailor-fit them. The color of that vest might make me change my mind, though. The coat color looks fine, though.

Are you going to dye yours? Keep me posted.

This is the first time I'm giving the scars a real try. I didn't notice until I looked back at the pic of Heath's scars before the makeup is on him, that I had the scars reversed on the wrong sides, these images are flipped.

Hence why this is a first time trying no? Things must always be tested out before cosplaying.

Mental Note: Flip the sides of the scars....

Middle Left Image

This side came out better, but its still WRONG. Hence the test no?

And yes he DOES have a scar under the lip but I need to make that thinner.....sooooooo

Mental Note: Starts out thick and goes in thin. Make it end thinner and curl it more at the tip of the scar. Make under lip scar thinner.

Middle Right Image
After adding three different colors of makeup just to give it some definition to see this is how it turned out.

Comparing this with his actual scars from the movie....I put too much.

Mental Note: add less skin tite next time.

Bottom Images
Comparison to Heath's scaring job before they put the makeup on him. For those seeking accurate scars, this is the best way to go about it, to look at that image of him.

thanx for the reply imuboy....
well i dont know how to sew or anyone that knows how.. i bet i can find someone. and our idea with using the liquid stitching stuff would work but i would need steady hands..

edit: plus i looked at the coat and idk how i would cut it out.. because the lining goes all throughout the coat including the sleaves. i dont wanna mess up and ruin the coat

Hey guys, total noob here! I have finally finished reading this thread, took ages! All of the costumes on here are so hardcore! This thread is just so awesome. I've learnt so much, and am using my new found knowledge to make my own costume, so far I have made a green vest and have purple gloves. I have also been experimenting with liquid latex prosthetics. So far my only pictures are cellphone ones in the bathroom so they aren't really good enough to post but I will get some decent ones soon.
I'd also like to thank those who put the shirt design pattern up here, that was so helpful.

Also also also.... Its so kewl to see girls getting into it. I think female joker is a freaking great idea.

....and whats the deal with all these girls looking so good. I mean where Im from female Batman fans aren't really very common. But theres heaps on here and they're all really... well...(without sounding sexist) HOT!!!! Sorry, this is prob not a very good first impression but o well.
:)
