over at the dented helmet forum were having a custom design printed with in 3 weeks time from now and its going to be 20$ a yard. the guys ordering like 400+ yards so if u want a few to make your own id get over tehre and put ur name on the list

Good deal mate. Does anybody have a rough estimate of how much it would cost to have a shirt tailor made? Because if I buy roughly 3 yards of fabric at $60, I'd just like to have an estimate of what I'll end up paying. This is a great find though, CT Joker, I just wish I could find some money in my pockets. Damn textbooks :cmad:

Nice job. This is going to sound stupid, but did you use a commercial printer to get the pattern printed onto that size paper, or is that the fabric after you've ironed on several pieces of transfer paper? Any advice would be appreciated, considering the shirt is currently making me want to tear my own eyes out.

Yep, that's from a commercial printer it is one big 2x3ft sheet of heat transfer, or basically 1 yard of 24" wide. Nice thing was it was a mom and pop shop and the guy was so interested in this project after I described it to him, he simply printed it for the cost of the transfer sheeting. What I'm holding is still the transfer sheet. I will actually be putting it on a pre-made shirt. So I will be cutting templates for each section of the shirt (front right and left panels, collar, sleeves, etc) and doing it in sections. My design is a repeating design so it can be cut and jigsawed together fairly seamlessly. Sounds hard, but it's not. I even tested a piece with my iron at home and it worked just fine. It's very easy to use. And when you think about it in the end, one process is going to be just as difficult as the other. If I was printing on fabric first, then I'd have to tailor a shirt, or pay to have it done since I am not an experienced tailor. 6 of one/half a doz of another!

Yeah minimum of $40-50 to have a shirt made. And with 2 yards of fabric your getting close to the $90-$100 range.

I don't know for sure, but using my creative side of my brain and knowing how paint works for artwork, I'd guess it would.....please don't take my word for it though! I'd do a test first to be safe, but I don't see why it wouldn't work if the grey is light enough.

Dylon do great fabric dyes that you stick in the washing machine.
You just weigh the garment and get the right size of dye appropriate for it.

http://www.dylon.co.uk/products/dyes/fabric-dye-for-machine-use/

There's two colours on that site that may work well seperately, French Lavender and Intense Violet, you can combine the two if you fancy.

:)

thanks for the info!! n for posting on both forums :)

that's cuz ppl buy them in large quantities specifically to resell them later at jacked up prices :/

Yes but where? Ive been keeping an eye out for them on ebay for sometime now but none have shown up yet. man i wish turnbull and asser would just start making more ties again.

Hey all. I've been reading these forums for a few weeks now and you guys have done an amazing job in posting and helping each other out, and some of your costumes look incredible. One person you've helped out immensely is me! Here's the progress I've made so far in a few dye sessions:

Here's the jacket that was found at a thrift store ($1.50)

Here are the original pants ($2.00)

The formula I used in dying: 4 Purple and 1 Navy Blue

I forgot to snap a pic of the gloves before I dyed them but you can see them on top in the mix. The gloves were purchased at Wal-Mart in the men's clothing department for $8.40. They are leather and are a work glove.

Here are the results:

I'm pretty pleased with the results, but here are a few things I'll do to improve on the first run.

#1. The gloves look great IMO, but the thread on the seams didn't dye, so I'll probably get a purple marker and dab out the thread

#2. The jacket could be a little darker, as well as the pants.

#3. The search continues for pinstriped pants. This will be a back up pair if I can't find anything cheap.

I found great shoes on Amazon.com for cheap! ($30)
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...t_shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance

I also have a trench coat ($5 at goodwill) that I have yet to die, and I have a grey vest that I tried to dye green but it didn't work. So if anyone out there has ever used the RIT Color Remover, please let me know if that works. It's a great vest and I've not yet seen one better (or I'd have it lol) and I'm not looking forward to ruining it. As always, your feedback and guiding light is appreciated. What do you think?

so i saw the dark knight tonight for the billionth time and i just noticed the jokers gloves have straps at the wrinst that fasten with snaps.

has anyone else noticed this?

i found a picture...look closely.

RIP: Joker Coat #2. Whatever fabric it was, it wasn't dye-able. I open the washing machine, and - lo and behold - the coat is still the same color, and there's purple dye everywhere. So much for my second attempt. :csad:

Now, I don't have a wig or prosthetic scars yet. So the lips are going to look completely different by Halloween. My own criticism is that I used a little too much black around the eyes, I need more white overall, and I need to bring out the wrinkles on my forehead/face. But, it's a work-in-progress, and - with your comments and advice - I'll capture the look I want in no time.

EDIT: Sorry that the pictures are so big. I'll resize them tomorrow, but I need sleep right now.

that photo of the joker reminded me, that i wanted to tell everyone (just in case this hasnt been mentioned/noticed already) that the second button on his vest is ALWAYS undone, throughout the entire movie.

Ct Joker, I'd be willing to pay up to $100, nothing more, for a men's medium shirt, which I figure is roughly 3 yards of fabric. I could use PayPal to pay, and the money for the fabric could be split away from the total, and the remainder would go to the person who actually makes the shirt with the fabric. If this is an option, then I might be persuaded to sign up.

Yeah, I noticed that too. this is the closest I could get. Its more of a hole in a strap that fits over a metal peg. For all I know thats what the real ones do, but I hav'nt seen any close ups.

So quick update on my costume.

Here's what I've pulled together.

The corset- http://www.amazon.com/Victorian-Vintage-Shaper-Corset-Cincher/dp/B000XRO6W8

The green is very dark yes, but personally I like it. And if the costume nazis have a problem well they can just suck on my multiracial booty.

The shoes ordering today - http://www.spiegel.com/shop/product...&cm_ite=DATAFEED&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=30698

The gloves- http://shop.vendio.com/theprimroselane/item/989476191/index.html

The pants that will be a skirt - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...7.m32&_trkparms=tab=Watching#ebayphotohosting

What's left? Shirt :( Stockings, makeup (scars and clown makeup), and green for hair.

Yah like what you said. Ease up on the black. more white but defined wrinkle lines also are good to.

Thank you! That's very nice of you. :D No special technique to the makeup, I assure you...just Ben Nye black and white creme makeup. I apply the white with makeup wedges and the black with a brush. :)

Haha, thanks! The necklace was given to me by a friend of mine who's an amazing award-winning childrens' book author and illustrator. He has great taste. ;)

The card was just one my friend had lying about in a stack of mismatched playing cards...I switched it out with a Queen of Hearts card that I Jokerized as well just for kicks.

I like your makeup, by the way! Very creative. :) Nice take on Harley.

Thanks again for the compliments!

Ohh thanksyuu (:
&& yuur welcome *hugs*
... I think I'd need a lot of practice before being able to do the makeup so neatly as yuu :woot:... thanksyuu for all yuur help though, Very helpful :) ... I would love to go as Harley for halloween .. so should start practising now hehe.
Thanksyuu again (:

Here are some better scans of the cards i have, again you should just be able to open them in any paint program and they "should" be the correct size to print already, if not just format the image size to 8 1/2 x 11" (not by pixels)Or if you cut out one card at a time then the image size per card should be set to 2.58 x 3.58 inches. Here ya go

Does anyone have access to a printer tha can do a light cardstock paper, even glossy cardstock or something of the sort. I have 36 joker cards (fronts and backs) form the TKD movie. They are already sized correctly and positioned correctly. The files are what I would consider to be very good and clear. If anyone would be willing to help me out and print me a set or two of the cards I would gladly give you the files so you could print your own set. PLease PM me if interested. I will only respond to PM's. thanks
