Thank You!!!!

its unfortunate that this thread has suffered from a bit of a malaise of negativity, griping, and poor advice as of late. i guess it was inevitable that the massive popularity of heath's joker would bringout the kooks ("the kind of minds the joker attracts").

fortunately there are enough of us "old schoolers" and well meaning clowns to keep it in check.

having said that let's all try and keep this thread the useful tool that it was intended to be. if you offer advice, please try and get your facts straight as we dont need any more bad info floating around and we crtainly dont want anyone's time wasted. if you dont want critique, stay out. and if you dont appreciate what everyone is doing here, just go home. and before asking "where can i get a purple coat?" try and read the thread first.

everyone is looking good and all of our hard work has really paid off. its great to see how much some of you have improved since your first attempts. its just a few more weeks till hallow mass so lets keep it up clowns!

oh and clintf i have to say you have been a great asset these past few weeks. i'm sure your constant suggestions and tips have helped many a budget clown and i wanted to let you know your positivity hasnt gone unnoticed.

good work.

OK I have a bit of a dilemma. About to use the dylon pre-dye on my brown 100% cotton trousers. In the intructions it says to put the item in the washing machine for the hottest (95 degrees C), longest time then add the the pre-dye 15mins into the cycle. Simple enough. Only because the trousers are 100% cotton and says to wash at 30 degrees only i'm scared of them shrinking. Have e-mailed and rang the people at Dylon but no reponse yet. Any idea guys?

IS ANYONE WORRIED...

that we might not recieve our Hexagon shirts from the ebayer and utopiabase.com?

i ordered mine on saturday, and given that it is supposed to be shipped in two days..... i havent recieved anything about a tracking number yet... i emailed them on monday, and they said i would have the tracking number on tuesday.... that day came... no tracking number... then i emailed them yesterday asking if i would be recieving the number any time soon... and no reply as of yet....

I sure HOPE that this isnt a scam :(

I just got mine in the mail today. S'all good.

A little bluer than I expected, but feh. **** is perfect for me. Only complaint I might have is that the cuffs and neck are a little tight, but after I tried it on, they fit perfectly around both wrists and my neck (which is a miracle since I have a neck like a bull (or so all the little old italian tailors tell me). I also like that it's starchy as all hell (why, I dunno. Knowing me that ****'ll be de-starched and looking like a snot rag within a week).

Anyway, here's a picture of it on me:

^^ Dude it looks like the same people I got mine off. I bought mine on E-bay though. Took a while but came the other day. Was really impressed with it. Not screen perfect but 100 times better than I could produce!!

cool Thanks!...

In the email they sent me, it looks like the shirt might not turn up for quite a while, which sucks... so just as a warning it might effect some of the other shirt buyers too!

'hi i am sorry to inform you that your package was held up at the exchange station in hongkong during the recent tropical storm, i was inform that the earliest the service could resume to normal will be around the 10th sept (there are massive back-logs), that means that you will be getting this item within 8-16 days from the 10th sept 2008.
let me know if this is acceptable to you , else i can get you a refund and you can purchase the items again at a later date ( when normal service resumes)

what the ****?! if thats the case im gonna flip on Simon for waiting forever to ship out the shirt and now they come and pull this crap its ok tho he'll be getting negative feedback out the ying yang for this crap

I am pretty sure that is the exact design, but in all white. I dunno if my patience could take sitting there and coloring in for that long though.

lets be srious tho 5 min a day for a week and you should be fine but that is the suspendersss

yea its nothing compared to drawing hexagons on a dress shirt. The suspenders are like a walk in the park

If this helps....from cosplay.com...

I know it's a bit late but...through experimentation I've found that you CAN dye polyester - it just involves SUPER boiling water. I personally think that's too messy and am not willing to burn myself. So I invented a new way to go about it - and I will prove that polyester CAN be dyed easily and with regular materials you probably have lying around your house somewhere.

You can use whatever dye you want, however I used the RIT - so I can only speak for that brand. Instead of mixing with WATER, you use RUBBING alcohol. (For the record, you CAN use water but the result is MUCH stronger with alcohol.) The ratio is 7:1 - 7 parts alcohol to 1 part dye but you may want to test this to see if it's the strength you want. Now you dip your fabric in PURE alcohol first. You then dip it the dye mixture. Let it sit for a few minutes. Once you're done, the results will be VERY intense - DO NOT RINSE - I promise if you rinse, it will completely wash out the dye, hang to dry. You can use a blow dryer if you're as impatient as I am :P

Once completely dry, the fabric will be kinda stiff. Like a starchy effect. Take your iron and set it on as high as you can go without melting the polyester (you may want to test this onto a scrap of fabric as everyone's irons are different). Iron all of the dyed part. This will partially melt the polyester fibers and force the dye pieces to attach to the fibers themselves. Once it cools, you can wash off the excess color. Hold the material under a hose or faucet or whatever and make sure the water goes from cold to warm slowly. You can control how much of the dye you want to come off this way - the hotter the water, the more dye that will come off. You choose how faint or dark you want the effect.

for all the boys and girls that need suspenders a little green fabric pen and an hour or two and these are perfect dont ya think?

Damn that's expensive, 40 bucks for suspenders? Time to search more.

I managed to order my new purple jacket and vest from two different cosplay sites (one from ebayUK), and I will be taking the hex pattern to a shirtmaker within the next week or two. This weekend I'll be ordering my new tie, gloves and the violet neopaque. I have quite a few options for the blue blazer, yet the best/closest matches are two button, so I may buy one and add a button myself to make it accurate. All that will remain is to hit up some shoe stores and get the chain.

If anyone wants the link to the vest:

There are 2 left, and its as close as I could find (with TSSY removing theirs) without making it myself.

For those asking about the Manic Panic Goth White make up, i think it works great like i said cause you can put it on like a cream based but it wont smear or rub off as easily throughout the day/night.

Also as for Weathering the overcoat, how bout sprinkle some baby powder on it here and there then wiping it to give the effect of where some of the white make up as been rubbed off onto. Also Baby powder is great if you are using regular cream make up, apply your white base then have a friend put a SMALL amount of baby powder in their hand and then blow it onto your face, this helps the make up not look as greasy and will prevent it from going anywhere or running etc etc. Im definately going to weather my overcoat so ill post my techniques for you guys, shame to dirty and mess up a new jacket but its not like im going to where a purple coat the other days of the year besides halloween so no biggie.

thank you very much for replying about the makeup. definitely wanted some "customer ratings" on the product. once i have the money ill order so. im not a fan of oily based stuff anyway >>.....and baby powder on the coat, now that its refitted to me, good idea. that and joker will smell baby fresh hahahahh xD

attention clowns! just so no one takes this little nugget and runs with it. dylon is not suitable for polyester. in fact 9 times out of ten 100% polyester (as well as most pure synthetics) will not take a dye at all. synthetic blends may dye but it might take more than one go to get any kind of desired result. my pants are a poly/cotton blend and they had to go into a dye bath four times. and as has been mentioned dylon will work on cotton. in fact i would reccomend it over rit as its just a better product and does not require boiling. just a heads up. dont want any misinformation out there ruining any coats or wasting anyone's time:o:whatever:

p.s. how about we get our facts straight before helping our fellow clowns people?:csad:

sincerely

dfa

um dude Dylon is what I USED for my Joker pants to dye them a darker purple and it worked just fine O_o thats why I gave the advice because its exactly what I used. The Joann fabric employees were warning me about using Rit on Polyester. I guess they don't know what they're talking about either? [edit] forgot to add it, but my pants originally were already a lighter purple and I just wanted to make them darker. so I used a Indigo Dylon dye.

Found the old product package. "For cotton, linen, ramie, and rayon, to full shades. Lighter shades on polyester/cotton mixes, wool, and silk. Do not dye 100% polyester, acrylic or nylon." I don't know about coats, but my pants were a direct polyester rayon mix. But since I was knew to fabric dyes at the time, I wanted to take the advice of more experience fabric people. lol So I let the store employees look at my pants and thats what they told me.

Glad to see people try to keep the original spirit of a thread, that I admit I do admire. But lets all try to remember, aside from myself, that sometimes people make mistakes. It happens and sometimes people can be stupid....it happens. And I've been in the thread long enough to see other spurts of drama here and there. But that's what "second chances" are for. Everyone's entitled to an opinion so that's perfectly fine. But everyone is entitled for a second chance. So lets all try to also remember to not throw out "judgments" too quickly. With that ALSO in mind, onward with the Joker cosutmes!

good work.

Thanks for the words DFA :) yea im believe in just helping out those who probably arent going to be able to go full on 100% accuracy so i want the kids to do the best they can, fellow "old schooler" here as well ;) and im with you about this thread, its turning more and more into a "hey look at how much i know about such and such, and huh uh your wrong dude, etc etc"

Also you new clowns just joining, i gave away a free pair of pinstripe pants and shoes and heck even threw in some of my prototype latex scars(and of course the items werent screen accurate but hey free is free) for free to someone in here, he just paid shipping of course, so when i go on my weekly goodwill excursions i am always finding a better pair of shoes, pants etc than i have so keep checking if i post any other freebies. Im just not a fan of the "kooks" that are buying the same 3 dollar pair of goodwill shoes, pants etc and listing them on ebay as "joker shoes/pants" for like 30 bucks.

DFA, before you start bashing on me also, you may reconsider, I am 44 year old mother of 3 kids, my oldest 19 and you are acting like my middle 11 year old!

Mia

I love you >>......and your welcome on the advice part btw. :3

Bloody Hell lol... the day i get the email about my shirt being held up in delivery centre.... every one else seems to be getting theres :( lol

Here is a tie I picked up at Wal-Mart, I know it isnt at all screen accurate but its busy enough for my taste, if anyone else thinks they can settle with one like this then head to your wal-mart.

I just finished these gloves... Originally Black, then painted with two coats of the violet paint. I then sealed the deal literally with a coat of water proofing spray- which actually gave the gloves a smoother surface and will protect the paint to a certain extent. I have a more accurate pair of gloves that I am going to paint soon.
