Joker Costume for Halloween

Hey guys- haven'y been here for a while, dunno why.
i'm actually doing the joker nurse myself, and hopefully i can get started on a bank robbery suit, but i dunno...
anyway, i sculpted a new set of scars and wanted to know what everyone thought. I also acquired a free joker shirt thanks to this forum- because back in january i posted a shirt pattern i was going to use but eventually decided it was all wrong and ran out of silkscreening time. it turns out if you google "joker shirt pattern" my old pattern comes right up, and i contacted this guy who is making the shirts over at utopia to see if he'd give me a credit, and he sent me a free shirt! it's really great- i couldn't believe it. granted i'm not yet doing complete screen accuracy, but i think it enhances the overall look better than the black pinstriped shirt.

I'm getting a nurse dress from the INCREDIBLE existential bat a.k.a. Darren a.k.a. Notsoserious, i have the mask from my vet girlfriend, dent stickers curtesy of ebay, the wig and the nurse watch. all i need is pen, nametag, socks and footwear.
let me ask you this, joker nurses:
what kind of undergarments were you wearing when you went out on the town?
Damn thats amazing make-up job. You look a lot like Heath in them pics.

I love that third picture in, it looks awsome mate!!!!

For my nurse, if/when I begin, I'm going to wear a pair of white "basket ball" shorts under it. Ya know....So my balls don't fall off. I meen....out. Gah......tried to work a Joker quote refrence in there.....Darn it. :csad:

I promised a few more pictures and since I had a lot of free time on my hands this morning I decided to play in the make-up again...

I am SOOOOO glad I decided to cut my hair...

Man, everyone else gets their Tabio socks today, and the freaking post office screwed up my shipment, so I have to wait until tomorrow.
On the plus side, I got my gloves. They're from that leather glove online store that one guy posted a link to earlier (in all fairness though, I did happen to stumble upon them before finding that link).

They look AMAZING... if they're not screen accurate, I don't know what is. You actually have to cut a couple threads to get the wool lining out, despite the fact that the site says they're removable, but other than that, they're great. Of course, they don't come in purple, but we've figured out how to correct that, haven't we? Also, thanks to rewn for the advice about mixing in black base, I was wondering how to make them a darker shade.

those are the gloves i got. had to send back to resize i ordered them to big but those are cool if u keep the lining in u can tuck the ends up and it gives it a snugger fit but also its a bit bulky..so if u take out the insides id say order smaller so the leather is tigther to ur hand...i ordered a small now hoping it will be a better fit with just the leather shell im gonna use the neopaque as soon as the new set arrives. looks really good with my redballs coat

What are you using for the make up, mainly the red? It looks good

I'm going to sew my own vest for this thing using a Simplicity Pattern. What kind of fabric should I use for the front and back of the vest?

For the white and the black I'm using the cheap .97 cent cream make-up in a tube you can buy at any Wal-Mart. It's made by Rubies. I dabbed the white on with my fingers and used a 1/4 square tipped paint brush to apply the black. I sealed both with a light dusting of baby powder using a make-up brush. As for the red, I'm using a tube of $1.00 lipstick I bought at Dollar General. The name of it is BLC248 Cherry Red and it's made by L.A. Colors. I used the 1/4 paint brush to put that on as well. I dabbed a bit of a darker shade of lipstick balm in the middle of the lighter red as well and sealed with a light dusting of baby powder as well.

These are the scars I pull in Skin-tite.
004-8.jpg

I've always used it right from the start (about May I think)
I moulded in non-sulphur clay, cast in smooth cast 300 resin and then a quick 5 min pull in Skin-tite.
Half a tea spoon of part A and B to adhere the appliance and your all set.
Beauty of making the molds is that you can pull loads of sets and have spares ready when you need em.
I've had them on for twelve hours straight and no problems at all.
They move exactly with the skin. No problems eating or drinking.
The only thing I wouldn't recommend is eating greasy food as the grease tends to breakdown the silicon and your scars can end up peeling off from the mouth corners.

So yeah give smooth-on skin-tite a go you won't be dissapointed.

Thats pretty cool. Im also using skin-tite. It really caught my attention after I saw the tutorial on smooth-on.com

good advice!! that's the only thing i am still working on for myself... the makeup. i used the cream tube as well... im not really feeling it though... i must be doing something wrong...

is that what other people are using for the white color as well? that cream tube? or are there other alternatives or types of makeup that i dont know about...???

yea that's why I really wanted to try it. I'm not actually making a mold though, I'm just going to apply it directly onto my face like they showed in one of the videos (a guy going it right on his wrist)

for the vest I'm making I used a green felt (almost forest green) for the front and a dark blue satin-like material. I'll probably put some thin stripes on the back with a fabric marker (in the name of SA). the felt (where I got it, @ JoAnn's) was like $10 a yard, but only about 1 yard is needed for just the front. the material for the back was only like $5 a yard and, again, about 1 yard is needed (can be more or less, depending on how big you are obviously). good luck with yours. if you discover any helpful tips lemme kno haha

With the white, I got the best results by putting on two coats. I let the first coat dry until it was slightly tacky and then put on another coat. Also, avoid filling in the area around your eyes and the area where your scars will be with the white. It dulls the colors down making the black look gray and the red look pink. While the second coat was a bit damp I put on a thin dusting of baby powder to set it. As for making it look right, I found that by putting it on with just the tips of your fingers works best. I also only filled in one area of my face at a time. I did my left cheek, forehead, right cheek, chin then my nose and I save my ears for last. I made a YouTube tutorial a few months ago on how to apply the make-up, but I really want to do another one with the more recent techniques I've been using because they look a heck of a lot better than my first attempts!

Yeah, I'll let you know. And thanks. :)

Did you use wool felt? Cuz I was looking through the fabric briefly and regular felt seems to cheap looking, but the wool felt was much nicer and it was ten dollars a yard.

Great pics Grimm!

Although, I would want much more than a shirt as compensation if someone was making thousands of $$$ off my work.

yea i took a look at regular felt but it was pretty crappy so i'm using wool felt.

i'm still at square one for the pants though. i hate to hafta just settle for blue, but with how expensive purple pants are going on ebay & how little options they have at my local thrift store, i may just hafta suck it up...

Why don't you sew the pants as well?

I was at JoAnns and they had the perfect color (with the pinstripes) in the "suitings" section.

Just use a pattern.

i would... but it's actually my dear sweet mother who's the seamstress for this, and she's so busy that pants would be impossible. she's nearly killin herself just to find time for the vest lol

I tried the same thing on my arm and work perefect. The only thing about the face is that it tends to run a bit, but with some practice it can be achieved.
