Joker Costume for Halloween

So your going with the adult rubies wig but the damn thing keeps moving around? Well go get 2 "side combs" ,if you have a wife/gf/sister then you can get one as almost every female in the world has some. Take one and hot glue it to the underside of the front of the wig and do the same to the underside of the rear of the wig, this helps it stay snug like a real wig with the teeth to grab your existing hair. I photo shopped the side combs onto my rubies wig to give ya the idea.

Here's a test application of my new scars.

those look completely seamless. i am impressed. they look great.

alrighty! i did some trials with my new method of apply the scar prosthetics and lemme tell you folks... im very satisfied.

(i skipped the right scar because i didn't have an unpowdered one prepared... also i know that the placement is probably slightly off... this was just some testing)

ok, so... my first step is to apply two or three thin layers of liquid latex directly to my face with a small sponge. you can either put it on the sponge then dab it to your face, or on your face and dab-sponge it around, i tried both and had the same effect. sponging gives the latex a really nice skin like texture and makes the layer perfectly thin at the edges.

once the latex on your face is cured, you can take your molded prosthetic (cured but unpowdered) and stick it right on top of the latex layer on your face. i think most liquid latex, and especially the brand i have, really adheres to itself. this is a real pain in the ass when trying to peel it out of the mold. but, when it comes to your face if you just stick it and apply a little pressure for 2 seconds, its on and its not coming off.

lastly, and the most painstaking, is apply a few more layers using the sponging method around the seams and all the way over the prosthetic. again, this gives an awesome skin texture all around. on my prosthetics the seams are usually really thin... but sometimes they dont come out perfectly. if you directly apply a bead of latex on the outer edge of the seam, let it set for a moment, then sponge it... you can almost make it blend perfectly yet again (what happend to me with the top seam of the left scar... i had a huge bump where that flap stuck back on itself... i just kept messing around and it eventually worked itself out.)

now... the best thing about this method is that you don't have to mess with any kind of adhesive, spirit gum, crazy glue, whatever. these things pretty much stay until you decide to peel them off. i haven't tried these out with the makeup on just yet but im hoping it still looks as good.

i think you want to move that scar about a half an inch down your cheek. it looks a bit too high. but other wise good application. nice blending edges.

Hey guys- haven'y been here for a while, dunno why.
i'm actually doing the joker nurse myself, and hopefully i can get started on a bank robbery suit, but i dunno...
anyway, i sculpted a new set of scars and wanted to know what everyone thought. I also acquired a free joker shirt thanks to this forum- because back in january i posted a shirt pattern i was going to use but eventually decided it was all wrong and ran out of silkscreening time. it turns out if you google "joker shirt pattern" my old pattern comes right up, and i contacted this guy who is making the shirts over at utopia to see if he'd give me a credit, and he sent me a free shirt! it's really great- i couldn't believe it. granted i'm not yet doing complete screen accuracy, but i think it enhances the overall look better than the black pinstriped shirt.

I'm getting a nurse dress from the INCREDIBLE existential bat a.k.a. Darren a.k.a. Notsoserious, i have the mask from my vet girlfriend, dent stickers curtesy of ebay, the wig and the nurse watch. all i need is pen, nametag, socks and footwear.
let me ask you this, joker nurses:
what kind of undergarments were you wearing when you went out on the town?
AMAZING. It's not just the awesome makeup job, your face also just happens to look almost exactly like Heath Ledger's. I am insanely jealous.

He does, doesn't he?! Even his teeth are similar :wow: :woot:
Pollyestergrimm, you've got to post more pics around Halloween! :yay:

Everyone's costumes are so well thought out, I'm really enjoying following this thread!

On a side note, I decided to go as a pirate for Halloween....not very original but I'm going to customise it as much as I can. Short on funds this year ya see. I would've liked to go as Link from Zelda, but there's not enough time now. I'm determined not to go as a ****ty pirate however, which is what most girls around here tend to do. :whatever:

What?! A girl in the UK dressing up as something OTHER than a **** for halloween??!
That's definately a first in my books. :yay:

And I am well aware I'm not completely SA. I don't care. I have the just of the costume. And I like it. So be jealous.

That was me ^ _ ^

I thought they would come in handy for alot of folks, which is why I ran home quick and told everyone about them as soon as I bought some! I might go back tomorrow and get another gun though! You can never have too many guns, knives or grenades for that matter!

 fantastic job with the outfit, and dont worry about being 100% SA, i think its great to get the look of the joker without having the exact "look" , its all about presence anyway. Oh and im in the same boat with ya about drawing in the designs within the hex's, uggggggg, but in the end i think it will be worth it.

Again great work

So here is the dillema.... I got my "Joker Tie To Buy" from Zazzle a while ago and have never been fully happy with the whole printed tie look. So I was at the thrift shop today and found a new tie, but I dunno which one is better.... The fake SA one, or the not SA one that is still cool lookin'.... Any thoughts?

Can you guess which one is the Zazzle tie? haha.

use the real tie. its pretty close to the real design and doesnt look like it was pinted off a computer. the zazzle printed one looks pretty poor imo.

Yea i see your point and dilemma , Me personally, I would go with your new thrift shop find, i love it, cause its more vibrant and eye catching, and yea maybe not SA but like i keep saying sometimes SA shouldnt be a such a stress bomb.

Ugh yeah...don't really know if I have the patience to do the designs in the hexs...I'm gonna shoot a hole in the roof. And thanks. :D

OH! And I just got to my other house (parents are divorced, lah-di-dah) and I got the gloves today! They aren't leather - they're nylon. But they look great with my ensemble. Not putting it all on again, so I included a shot of just the gloves.

The lighting made them look more...wool-like then they are. They are smooth and a shade of purple similar but still lighter than the jacket I have. And I think they help (almost) complete my look. :D

Gah! More Joker hotness! If this keeps up I'll be an extremly confused man. :wow:

I found some slip on shoes with a heel at Wal-Mart for like $10 for my nurse costume (Hey, told you I was confused.), the size 13's fit my 15's so I was happy. :woot: Found a pair of shoes at the mall for my Joker, but all they had was way to small, 10.5's. And they couldn't order me more because they were on clearence. :csad: So I guess I'll keep on looking.
