Joker Costume for Halloween

Hey, thanks Mitch and Jester for your input. I really appreciate it. I just contacted them to see if I could possibly get one before Halloween. Also, their sizing confused me a little, so I asked for some clarification.
I guess I better also make sure to ask about the pocket, huh? ::LOL::

I got an XL, it fits fine, That the size I would wear . The collar is a little tight and it took 11 day to get to me and I live in Maryland

This is what Sinister over from TDH had to say about how he dyed his light grey pants to a nice, deep purple:

The dye ratio is pretty simple. I used a five gallon bucket. Using hot water I fill the bucket about three gallons full. Add 1/2 cup of table salt to the mix. Add one packet of Rit Dye or one bottle of the Rit Liquid.

Be sure to wet the material with hot water before soaking in the dye.

Stir the material in the dye for about 30 minutes and then make sure they are fully submerged for the time needed for each color.

I used the purple first, for about 24 hours.
Then rinsed them in a water solution with one cup of white vinegar.
Let them air dry before putting them in your dryer.

After that, mix up a new batch of dye using the royal blue. All the same quantities.

Repeat the process, but only stir the material in this mix for about 1/2 hour. Then repeat the rinse and dry process.

His pants look great, too.

So for all the people who went to the dollar store to pick up the grenades... WHERE DO YOU LIVE?!?!?!?!? I went to 5 different ones today and found nothing!!! haha. But... LOOK WHAT I DID FIND!!!!!!!!
IMG_0354.jpg

The gun slide I painted shortly after I bought it, but I think for 3 dollars for the handgun and 8 for the shottie, I think I made out okay. haha.

Oh and I know the shottie looks shotty... but I have been playing with them all day. LOL. They both shoot! Pretty far too, but I will not have pellets on my for halloween, I think that may make some cops a bit agrivated...

So everyone's been talking about being the Joker for halloween. But can you act it out? lol. I've seen some on youtube and boy are they horrible.

I needed to find some pink bias tape for the nurses costume....I ended up buying 8 yards of it, because sence my Wal-Mart is removing all their fabric and most of their crafts, it was only $1 for 4 yards--So now I've got enough if I screw up. LOL.

So far everyone who has heard my impression has said it's pretty good, so I'm happy with that.
And a few of these people are actually movie buffs like me, so their opinion is quite valuable.

So, I took a trip to Goodwill today with no intentions on shopping for my Joker costume, due to the fact that I thought I had finished it. Well, I happened to stumble on a sweet pair of purple pinstripe pants while digging around in the jeans, then I found this awesome bluish/gray blazer and the rest was history. I ended up putting together a more screen accurate Joker costume to go along with my other one! And guess what... I actually got the timer to work on my camera ( after dropping it on the floor no less ) so I was able to take a ( well almost ) full length shot of my newest costume!

Now I'm thinking I like this look better than my more 'original' stuff I threw together. I already had the shirt at home. It's an awesome blue color with this very faint golden shine. I'm also thinking about dying the vest darker as well and I most defiantly have to take the shoulder pads out of the blazer cause they make my shoulders look HUGE!

And of course, since I had my make-up on again, I couldn't resist taking a few more candid shots since everyone seems to get such a kick out of those. I hid them under the spoilers to save from spamming everyone with my mug...

I'm keeping my eye on you... couldn't resist playing with my new toy after I painted it.

Can anyone help me out? I have dyed my pants twice, but everytime I dry them after washing like the directions day, they come out lavendar, not the deep blue/purple that they were when I pulled them out of the dye...Thanks

Have you tried using vinegar in with the dye mix? this helps especially with polyester pants.

I sold it unfortunately. Had a bit of unexpected medical expenses over the last few weeks that needed paid for, so the shirt along with a few other misc Joker costume items went up on eBay. Blah. Hated to part with it, but I needed the funds more.

And thanks for the comment about my make-up! Still trying to improve on it every time I dive into the warpaint!

yes.

i have actually been accused lately of talking like him and licking my chops too much unconsciously when i dont even realize im doing it (usually after a drink or two:cwink:).

i think most are really overdoing the voice. it needs to sound weird and creepy of course but its also very deliberate and measured, with subtle tonal inflections. but its not zany at all.

and yeah of course i can recite all the lines and scar stories and monologues etc. but more importantly (imo) i have adapted his manner of speech to my own voice so i can talk in my joker voice quite naturally. it also helps that i naturally have that "flat midwestern" chicago accent that heath worked so hard to fit into his performance.

after all, i cant just walk around all night repeating lines and growling "why so serious?" can i?:oldrazz:

i really want to unnerve people and sell the character completely. i want people who know me to be worried about my mental heath for a day or two (as if they aren't already:wow:.) ya know, introduce a lil' anarchy, upset the natural order and all that.

I'm with you there, although with all of my "costume tests" these past few months, my loved ones are convinced my sanity has bid them all a good night, lol.

BUT im surprised some of you dont do the makeup the way Heath did.

WB released somethin on the make up and they described it, ive done it once before and it came out pretty dead on.

but anywho

props all.

Soooo, I tried my hand at liquid latex scars. Tell me what your thoughts and what you think!
(and yes, I'm aware that i don't have the lip scar. I'm most likely going to use collodion for that)

Anyone here tried the iron on transfers for a tie? Does it make the fabric too stiff? I just finished a new tie pattern but if I put it on zazzle it probably wouldn't arrive in time and Darth Balls might rip it off.

That's how I did mine, It's a little stiff but not too hard to tie up and I figured it's under the vest the whole time anyways:

The *only* thing is (as was pointed out on here) is that I need to Sharpy the white bits black so they aren't so obvious. Otherwise I think it worked really well (and was a hell of a lot cheaper than all the other ties I've been seeing!)

Should I add the viegar to the dye mix, or to the rinse mix like is mentioned in the above dye intructions?

Thanks

not bad although its kinda hard to see. and the right curved side goes up a little too far and high but other than that, good work.

I can't recall if this has been discussed or not in here, but does anyone know what the name tag says on the Joker's nurse gown? My sister claims it says "Matilda" after Heath's daughter, but I can't get a good picture of it anywhere.

My sister is trying to get her costume as screen accurate as possible for one of the Halloween parties she's going to and has been bugging me the past few days to try and find out.

I'm peety sure the results are inconclusive about what the nametag says. Some say there's two words, some say it says Matilda, etc. I'm going to wait to see if any higher resolutions pics. surface of it/him before I get mine.

Kelikala, you derserve a plaque or something. Awsome.
