Joker Costume for Halloween

Where did you get your vest?

Everything but shirt(UB), tie and socks(HT) came from Human_Go from eBay. I just asked for the black buttons instead of the atrocious green ones that were too big.

I love it all. As for screen accuracy, the pants are black instead of deep purple. Also, the jacket is a dark gray instead of a slate blue or w/e. And the purple coat's sleeves have buttons, but doesn't button. It also came with a gray shirt and black tie that I haven't really touched. Free dress shirt+tie as far as I'm concerned.

ok... my wig was an utter disaster. i'll spare the details, BUT, i am definitely just not going to wear a wig with the costume which leaves the only other alternative as to wearing a hat.

so, in the sense of trying to match TDK Joker's ensemble and asking the question "IF he had a hat"... what hat style/color should i go with?

I'm thinking something along the lines of this in green (partially because i have a few lying around):

http://www.hatsinthebelfry.com/product/windowpane-ivy-cap-borsalino-firenze-365487.html

or maybe a fedora or some sort, as long as i don't look like an indiana jones hybrid.

so what do you fellas (and gals) suggest? believe me, at this point your input will probably determine what i end up wearing.

sigh... no one liked my collage. I used the fancy french word and everything.

Spidey, I'm jealous. Your costume is beyond amazing, your craftsmanship on all of your little details and just...everything is spectacular, and you just have the look down!

Why do you have to be so good?! xD
Thank you

if i were to put a hat on this incarnation of joker it would be a short brimmed bowler hat. like the one alex wears in a clockwork orange.

I agree with deathfromabove about the short brimmed bowler hat. You can get a rather inexpensive one from buycostumes.com

A little paint would turn it the perfect color you need!

if you didn't want to wear a hat, you could always slap a bank heist mask on...or some other kind of clown-y mask, store bought or custom made.

but bottom line is presentation. you get that, and it doesn't matter if your hair is less than 1/10th of an inch long.

good luck!

oh and btw, my costume is almost pretty much completely done. pics to come!

yeah if you get one of those cheapo white masks and paint it up you can just wear that on the top of your head all night.

or you could just get a john mccain mask and wear that on the top of you head. when you reveal your true mask it would provide some subtle socail commentary. have you noticed the way john boy licks his lips?

i saw this great nixon mask and i almost bought it. it also would make for a pretty funny reveal at parties and it would also be an homage to miller's dark knight returns.

but i agrree with lem. presentation is everything. try making your real hair work if you can.

It was kinda like Christmas in the Spango household today!

I got my shirt from UT and my Tabio Socks are here. Disregard anything other than the shirt and tie in the first pic. Everything else is still a work in progress (getting down to the wire...I KNOW! lol). I'm relieved my overseas items made it in. "Now I'm always smiling"

Got bored. Took some pics.

Still need to dye vest and pants.. (retouched first pic so they look way too dark, they're not that bad!)

now for a horrible facial expression...it was bright. i squinted. i look pained. blah.

Images are mirrored - the chain is on the correct side.

I knew because I looked at my nose ring...and it's not where it is. So my images are mirrored...xD
It's looking marvelous so far. Bravo! :)

Gonna post this again:

Quick question for anyone using the rigid collodion:

How much is really necessary? Especially if you're using it to hold on liquid latex? I'm going to order some later, but need to know if I should get 2 or 3 .25 ounce bottles.

I have a 1 ounce bottle and so far it's lasted for five applications and I still have half a bottle left. I usually use about five-six coats on each side of my face, then seal the edges off with the liquid latex. Hope that helps!

I am quite impressed with everyone's costume. I would like to go as Nurse Joker this year but am having a hard time finding a decent costume. ONe that will not cost $100 like those people on ebay are selling. Does anywhere know where I can find a similar Nurse joker costume? If so thanks. yeah!

they have a bunch left at hot topic, honestly don't let the tranny pic on the website fool you, it actually looks pretty good.

I'm having a helluva time finding the perfect vest without shelling out mad $$. Outside of dying your own or the HT vest, has anyone found an affordable lapel dark green vest?

I'm just going to buy a vest with lapels and use paint to make it green. That seems to be my only option - outside of a Goodwill miracle.

I bought a blue waistcoat (with blue satin back) for 50p off ebay, and bought some green felt for £4.99 at a fabric shop. I'm just going to stitch the felt onto the front and create lapels, and maybe even fake pockets.

Also, my UB shirt arrived today! Only 8 days after I ordered it! I thought it was going to take weeks :woot:

..oh, and it doesn't have a chest pocket. Not that I care, just some people were discussing that a few, well, many pages ago

It just looks really short in the HT pic. Although, me being short would help that....

I think the guy wearing it on the website might be freakishly tall... I tried one on at Hot Topic and I'm 5' 10" and the bottom hem stopped right above my knee.

what a big difference a year makes... to be fair, last hallowe'en my costume was based on a single photo of the Jokers face (the first released pic), with the rest of the costume just guessed at...

the new version is much better... the only survivors being the blazer jacket and the shirt.

sigh... no one liked my collage. I used the fancy french word and everything.

it was very good blonde santa

TO THOSE WHO HAVE USED RIGID COLLODION AMNY TIME WITH MAKE-UP:

IS LIQUID LATEX NECESSARY????? OR WILL IT LOOK GOOD WITHOUT???

I would HIGHLY suggest using the liquid latex with the collodion. After awhile the collodion starts to lift up around the edges from talking/smiling ect. and the liquid latex REALLY helps keep it all down. I've had it last six hours straight will no lifting, so yes, liquid latex is a good thing to pair with the collodion if you want it to last longer.

its not overly necessary, but if applied sparingly can enhance the effect when rigid collidon has reached its limit... i used a few drops of it and it worked really well...
